Date: Thursday 10th February
Time: 2pm (time for you to have lunch first as there is no food at the venue)

Really good for a first time social event as its not too big to get lost in, but big enough to have plenty of people to talk to x
As one of the organisers we come and meet people if they are nervous coming in and introduce you around x |

So there more to consider i suppose.
I think they are re introducing table service only.
Tables may need to be booked
And it unlikely you can do a speed date type 5mins switching tables as likely sits outside of rules of pubs so trying to socialise maybe difficult.
Only other option is outside venue which cater's for larger numbers. Think current 50.
But venues with outdoor are few and it brrr cold
Indoor planned at capped at 30 but would likely need to return to paied social as costs would be involved for booking a room.
Maybe easier to reschedule unless dripford changes his mind but his track record more likely to lock down further.

If I'd booked (I'm shit so I forgot) I'd personally still go and stay the night. Make a night of it rather than waste it.
But on the subject of the social I'd just say bite the bullet and postpone it a couple of weeks. As said, the venue could be really strict (understandably) and people won't have as much fun being unable to mix and mingle. Would just take the shine off the evening. Just in my humble opinion. |

Holding off on decision for the time being.
Premier inn allow you to change the date of the booking but dont allow a refund.
Rearranged date would be Thursday 10th March. So people can change their booking.
Hotels have been good with rescheduling bookings in general.

From Friday, 28 Jaunary: Nightclubs can reopen and hospitality will be allowed to operate normally. Covid passes will still be required for large events, cinemas, nightclubs and theatres.

There are quite a few reasons for it being a midweek, early start social as not everyone works 9-5, Monday to Friday. Therefore, with a 2pm start time, shift workers etc and others can also attend. The Swansea social isn’t a quick beer and run, it’s a day long one and often many book hotels as it finishes at closing time and more; Meaning it’s accommodating for people that either can only attend for a short time or are in it for the long haul. For people with family commitments, the usual weekend, evening ones can be difficult to attend so the midweek one, where you can maybe take some time off, work flexi, or already be available in the daytime, can be advantageous. I’d love to attend but why out this in during the day time mid week when people are working ?
There are quite a few reasons for it being a midweek, early start social as not everyone works 9-5, Monday to Friday. Therefore, with a 2pm start time, shift workers etc and others can also attend. The Swansea social isn’t a quick beer and run, it’s a day long one and often many book hotels as it finishes at closing time and more; Meaning it’s accommodating for people that either can only attend for a short time or are in it for the long haul. For people with family commitments, the usual weekend, evening ones can be difficult to attend so the midweek one, where you can maybe take some time off, work flexi, or already be available in the daytime, can be advantageous. Furthermore, it’s a great idea as it’s something different from the norm. The Swansea social is always busy and very friendly even with it being a midweek, early start.
