Hello all, I've read a number of profiles tonight of people who are obviously feeling personal mental health issues. I've tried to reach out to people but am restricted due to there profile restrictions.

If anyone wants a confidant, a shoulder to cry on, someone to chat too or someone to just listen, please send me a message.

No strings whats so ever.

Take care,

Steve

Working throughout the pandemic and have been the last 3 months doing 6 days a week in healthcare with 6 hours a day sleep (not a doctor), finally everything became too much and I just broke down.

Luckily my job has been understanding and given me more sociable hours and offering any support needed.

Hi guys, it's a shame it took a brake down for your employer to be sympathetic, understanding and get you the support you needed. That said, they helped, there are 100s who won't even get any support, that's why I thought I would be an ear for anyone to talk into. Little things I know. Would love to chat to find out in what form your support was.

Thanks for taking the time to post. Take care, Steve

Actually had enough earlier on in the week after a " vanilla " date had me up until 4am arguing .

Went to work Tuesday and the lack of sleep on top of some other issues had me making so many mistakes and even had tears streaming down my face as I was trying to work. Thankfully my manager sat me down, talked to me and told me to go home and take some time out to get myself together. Been off all week, sorted out a few things that were playing on my mind and drew a line under them. Had a good chat and a few hours just chilling yestetday with someone who I've always referred to as " my therapy " and starting to feel so much better. There is help around people, talking and taking time out does the world of good. Great of you to bring this subject up OP it really does need talking about more.

We mainly have had staffing issues because of the pandemic, police background checks have grinded to a halt so we literally can't replace staff.

I am really lucky that I can talk to my boss about mental health issues because of my industry. I know there are much worse off people out there

Hi Simon, many thanks for sharing your experience. There are a number of external proffesional organizations who will help, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to name them here. Please message me and I can share the details with you. If your looking for a sympathetic ear, happy to connect.

OP, thank you for being such an advocate for Mental Health. It's such a huge factor for our wellbeing but so often over look.

It's commendable the post you have written! x

Top effort Steve this is a huge issue especially with covid etc. As an employer we have just booked all the staff onto mental health first aid training the hope being is I and others can recognise better when people are struggling.

I’m in the building trade and it’s getting worse and worse with material supplies costs rocketing etc. I dread to think how hard it must be for care/health workers.

Hi Playful (sorry can't view your profile for your name). Thank you for your kind words, I think Covid has exasperated the menatl health issue. Companies shout safety but whisper health, I think this is flipping on his head at the moment, and so it should.

Thanks again, Steve

Everyone calls me PP, but thank you for checking it Steve! It's absolutely true. Health is not a priority to some companies, but ultimately has a huge impact on productivity. Here's hoping there are some changes in the future to ensure Health is prioritised x

Same here tbh

August everything came to head and had bit of a break down. Couldn’t understand at first how I didn’t notice the signs kept saying to my dr I work in mental health for 12 years I should know. But now I’m the other side the signs was there. But working in mental health is hard enough but during a pandemic it competly through me through the loop. And talking wasn’t happening. In our family we don’t talk like that but since opening up more it does help.

Sometimes someone you don’t know is a better listener than someone you do know
