"We just got blocked for telling someone to get photo verified! Why? Clearly a fake profile."
The exact same thing happened to me last week!
To be honest, I trust absolutely NOBODY on Fab unless I've met them before. The verification system is embarrassingly broken; a much quicker method is asking the person you're speaking to to take a photo of them holding something obscure, like a tea bag, next to their head. Sure, they'll momentarily look like a dick, but at least they're a trusted dick! |

This seems extreme but it does make you wonder! |

Did they already have verifications?
If someone asked us to get photo veried, we'd tell them to do one lol.
however, if it was a completely new unverified profile, we would want to check that she/they were genuine (no-one fakes being a single guy, do they?). |

No they didn't have any verifications. |

I've never really given the green flag much thought as verifications have usually been sufficient, and full face photos are invariably exchanged after telephone conversation, including talking to the lady, so I know it's not a guy posing as a couple, before actually meeting. |

Chatting with a couple at the mo, want us to take a photo holding a card with their name on it and send to them to verify ourselves, and they are the new ones who aren't verified.. .. The fact we are both photo and meet verified means nothing does it?? |

I've had something very similar to this but from a single female not a couple. I just reply by saying sorry but I'm meet verified and you're not and that I'll send pics after they do. Usually ends up in a blocking situation. |

Fab's verifications mean absolutely nothing. Its incredibly easy to doctor an image of someone holding a piece of paper, the admin who check them can't spot forgeries and dodgy "meet" verifications are dished out without due care like a virus infecting the site.
The best way of establishing who exactly you're speaking to is by video call or by sending personalised photos, as I mentioned above and as the couple you're chatting to suggested, on an individual chat-by-chat basis.
No photo, no chat! |
