Yup, although not been for a while due to knee injury & the pandemic !!
If I’m feeling fit I’ll ride Afan park, lazy or stupid then it’s an uplift day up Bike Park Wales.
It can be cheap though, second hand bikes are a bargain !! But then there’s the expensive side too.... |

Yeah there’s quite a few decent places around, can make it as easy or crazy as you like too, there’s something for all skill levels !!
Will definitely try and get out more this year if the opportunity arises, knee is healed & I could do with dropping some of this lockdown weight haha !! |

Yes ! I have been Mountain Biking for most of my life. I used to Race XC, semi-professionally as a Teenager. I now live on a Farm near Aberdulais, & I have a Van Life Sprinter which has a Bike Garage. I work in a Bicycle Shop as a Technician. I have been coming to Afan since I was 15. White's Level is just amazing 3. My all time favourite. I am hoping to ride the Brecon Beacons when restrictions allow . Hit me up if any of you fancy this type of riding. Afan in particular, as it's local for me. |

We only have budget hardtails (£600 & £700) but we like to get out of the rough stuff. Living miles away from anything good means the investment in better bikes isn’t worth it for the occasional road trip. |

OP you're right about the amount of money spent it's very addictive and very easy to spend a few thousand on kit that sometimes isn't needed depending on the type of riding you do . Hopefully Bike Park Wales is opening again soon something there for every level and a great day out |

I've recently started back riding up afan after a good few years off being lazy. It's surprising how unfit a person can get. Blue scar is my go to at the moment until I get the mojo back fully |

"Only been to Afan once but was really impressed. Usually haunt is Barry sidings in Tregaron but its crazy steep!"
We sometimes go to Abergorlech (when rules allow). Nice little pub there. camper, bikes and a nice meal. Great, can't wait |

I am one of those! Haha! E-bikes are for cheaters!!!
Seriously though, I want to use my own body power for as long as possible and then I’ll get an e-bike! |

Depends on the type of MTB riding you do, but yes £1,000s can easily be spent.
Personally was never a serious downhiller so still go around Afan on a 2nd hand hardtail I bought in 1998!
Been looking at ebike conversion kit for it since my legs don't work like they used to. |

I've bought an E MTB , some will call it cheating......I'll say #### off lol. Fitness isn't great even though I work hard. Just makes options open up that you wouldn't consider on a normal bike. Life changer.
If it gets you out, it's good |

Wasted years pissing about with road motorbikes which intimately ended up frustrating me.
Wish I'd spent the time and money on mtb and road cycling instead. Would've been cheaper I think especially as work pays my expenses when I race and take colleagues out with my MIAS level 2.
Live in Somerset now and wish I was into it when I lived in Bleanau Gwent. Too busy with the sports bike, booze and red heads |

I ride Afan all the time.
It’s not a cheap hobby, but it’s great when locked down in the middle of some of the best trails in the country. |

Love mountain biking, done most of my life on and off, had a few big accidents to lol. Can't do bike parks anymore as I've bought a eletric mob but aint UK legal for parks as it pulls 28mph on the flat and no pedal asset so motorbike setup really lol but wot a beast , but usually ride caerphilly mountain now and surrounding area |

Looking to get back into it as well, had a bad off some years a go, so got metal plates and cables in me now.... not ridden much since, but Margan sounds good. There are 2 trails just up the valley from us, they quite good as well. |
