Many personal trainers out there BUT be very careful as 99% are NOT teaching people correctly with both exercising and NUTRITION. I personally have not met one (in the UK) that really knows what they are talking about. and trust me qualifications achieved in the UK are a JOKE.
I am in contact with some the the TOP guys in the US, namely Dave Palumbo, and they have told me their opinion's the qualification questions and required answers being totally inaccurate on so many levels
Do NOT pay anyone too much either, they rip people off BIG TIME which pisses me off!!
I wouldn't recommend you pay anyone that charges above £20 total per session and sessions should not be timed - takes as long as it takes, even if the routine takes 2hrs on a given day - dependant on goals. A meal plan should also be included along with a health check |

This is this gentleman's standard reply to anyone asking for advice on the subject or similar.
I'm not a PT and don't use one on a one to one basis but to say 99% of UK PTs are clueless is insulting to the industry.
There are several on this site who are probably struggling to make a living and have done for the past year so maybe stop and think about what you say and how you say it before spewing out your views at people who are asking for friendly advice.
You can have a view on a subject without being so dereogatory to other hard working people in the process

"Don't worry about losing too much, some.of us guys like it
If the lady wants to lose weight for her own health we should support and encourage her "
Agreed and I would support her as i have done with previous partners. All I said was that some guys do like it.
However, why should women be pushed or made to feel they have to try to lose weight ?

Noone is pushing anyone here
The lady asked for advice, she wants to lose weight for herself. To be told that some men like large women (which indeed they do which is great) is not supporting what she wants to achieve
Most people lose weight because they want to improve their health and self esteem, not because they feel made to |

Do well and loose abit then put it back on.
Any personal trainers?
Get a job in healthcare and you will lose weight with the stress."
Working in healthcare isn't helping me lose weight... it's more a case of grab something on the run as you're so busy |

I've gained weight but intentionally. Working from home has given me much more opportunity to train and I'm doing it consistently for the first time in a good few years.
I wanted to see if I could put a bit of muscle on with calisthenics and bands and it turns out I can. |

I speak of experience, Sheila and I have visited gyms all over the UK and have to be inducted by most before using, EACH PT that guided us through I put a series of questions to - NONE managed to answer any correctly AND gave poor advice on how to perform exercises. So I can give an accurate account of that.

Come on lets be honest losing weight and gaining quality muscle isn't rocket science - it's COMMON SENSE and piss easy - if your IQ is above 100 lol.
3
I say it as I see it and NONE of MY clients STRUGGLE to reach a goal and all would tell you I NEVER FAIL.

I train people from all walks of life, from people simply wishing to lose weight to heart attack victims to NHS staff.
43 years of experience, taught by the BEST and a body to PROVE I KNOW how to get thing's done...UNLIKE the PT's I have seen, oh and I'm 100% NATURAL

So many good views from people on this site and I can see good and bad in them all..
I personally dont go to the gym as much as I should do at 56 I am getting extra lumps everywhere I shouldn't and this lock down has certainly not helped lol
I do think if I could go and see someone like Karshe3 at around £20 a session and sounds like he knows what his talking about this would give me the lift to go more..what worries me is my brother was a Manager of a very well known gym because he was good at what he did Manage a center but couldnt tell you even how to pick up a bar correctly but when he had staff on holiday people were paying him as a pt trainer which was very worrying.
He no longer works there so I dont mind letting people no but just goes to show there are people out there that would just take your money and run and there are good ones. Just pick correctly |

Thank you.
I'm only in this as a PT because my last client from Kent suggested I make a living from it rather than continuing to help others for free, she said I should make a go of it for a living.
I just wanna help other's that need help and it seems a waste not to as I know so much about the subjectas a whole even written a book on Vitamins and minerals.
I hate seeing people ripped off, I'm NOT in this for the money, I LOVE seeing people realise their goals and setting them in the right path for a healthier, longer, happier and better quality of life.
I've trained dozens of people in the past for free, never wanted a penny, merely to help people
I'll leave there and as you say...agree to disagree ......but I'm right,LOL |

Haven’t read the full thread but if you have Facebook look at Macros inc page. They have a free calculator which gives you a calculation of both calories and the protein/carbs/fat breakdown.
This is a great starting point for most people. I’ve lost 5.5 stone so far. Still eat what most people consider ‘bad’ food etc on a weekly if not daily basis. |

I’m usually pretty consistent with my weight. However put on 1/2 a stone in the later part of last year. Normally this wouldn’t bother me as I know a hectic work would make me lose it quite quickly. However with being on furlough it hasn’t gone. Fingers crossed back to work on Monday to shift it. |

I did gradually pile on some pounds throughout lockdown
Trying to shed some now
I do the high fat low carb thing 5-6 days a week
Then have 1 or 2 cheat days where I indulge on anything I've been craving
I've never tried but I believe slimming world is a good lifestyle

During the past year and the beginning of Covid. I put on a lot of weight for my height and body frame.
I work in the NHS, up until recently was based dealing with Covid.
I have managed lose two stone in weight and this has been with diet and exercise.
So I believe that we all have our own views which in some people eyes will be wrong and right and it is important that we are aware of these differences. |

For me the wider issue is the mindset which I suspect lockdown has had on many people. I am a social animal and in my last office building we had a gym on site.
Since I have been working from home, I live alone and Monday to Friday I only see the inside of my house and once or twice a week the staff in the local Morrison’s.
I am a very confident and outgoing person and I live near Bargoed so lots of walks, hills and places to go. However my mindset is ‘I just can’t be arsed’, I don’t think I am depressed, however I just cannot get myself into the mindset of going out to exercise. I am fully aware of the risks of being overweight at my age, diabetes, stroke, heart problems but understanding that, lol I am still ‘can’t be arsed’
Personal Trainers want to motivate people but what if the mindset is the blocker! |

"I lost 4 stone 8lb through slimming world, keeping it off is the hardest thing now."
Similar to you, I lost about 4st in 2018 with Slimming World after reevaluating how I use and abuse myself as I had really let myself go. I’ve been fortunate to have maintained this albeit, I have put on about half a stone over the last year and can feel every single pound of it. It’s particularly hard now working from home and local restrictions but I keep as active as I can and make healthy choices most of the time for my well-being and to try to stay appealing to the Mr and others.
