If someone has had the vaccination they can still carry and transmit covid. Vaccination just protects the person themselves.

On going research is indicating it also reduces transmission which is excellent news

I'm actually finding these threads about vaccines quite amusing. Unless you are in a particular occupation such as a care home worker, or NHS, the system in Wales is such that they are doing it in age group, that's why I haven't had mine yet despite caring for my mum. All these people who are not in such an occupation, and yet claim to have had theirs, are obviously telling lies about their age.

Or they have an underlying health condition. It isn’t just based on age.

Why are they amusing? I would assume everyone in this thread who isn't a pensioner (no offence older members) is either a health or social care worker or is extremely clinically vulnerable. I don't think anyone can just fake their age to get a vaccine. The system doesn't quite work like that

I dont think we will ever get back to the previous "normal" ever again.

Covid, like flu, will be here in some form for a long time, but with the vaccines I hope it will become just a minor seasonal thing. But I think a lot of people ( i hope) will take on board the best practices of the lockdowns, handwashing, maybe some mask wearing in crowded areas like transport, isolating if they get ill, and there will be no future large outbreaks.

People keep asking where has flu gone? Its easy, the precautions people atre taking due to covid have also worked to reduce flu infection....lets not undo the good work by going daft when we are finally let out to play lol

It's called a Freudian slip, CID look for it all the time. There are all lot of people here not in the essential worker group telling lies about their age, but yet they have let slip that they have had their jab on order to get meets. That's what I find amusing. I know this to be the case because of the offers I get from people who want me to accommodate, when I look at their age it's impossible for them to have been vaccinated because, even as my mums carer, I can't get the jab because I am not old enough.

"How will we all be able to confirm if people have had the vaccination once lockdown is over?"

To be honest it’s going to be impossible to know unless you know the person.

A couple of my friends on here are in the care profession and I know they have been done.

I haven’t had an injection yet but my mother has (who I care for) it could easily use her card to trick people into thinking I’ve had the jab.

Her name isn’t on the card just the dates and what type of vacation was used.

A very special thank you to the lady who replied to me privately, and who made me aware that it had now become the policy in Wales to vaccinate those of us caring for an elderly relative, in line with Scotland and England, instead of having to wait for your age group to come out of the hat. I got mine today. So thank you again. XXX Dave

Totally agree best practices of lockdown particularly handwashing should stay high on people's list but I think we will start to return to some kind of normality over time. Also I doubt flu has gone away - people not mixing probably key driver of its reduction this winter. When the pubs are full and offices, buses and trains busy again it'll come back out to play.

Why would you need to confirm if people have had the vaccine? The information pack that comes with the vaccine letter states that the vaccine will not stop you catching or spreading Covid.

“Discrimination” has a legal definition, and that isn’t it.

Fab isn’t likely to do anything of the sort, it would be too much work. They’d actually be holding personal information for a start, something they don’t want to do.
