Hopefully that try will settle the nerves and we can compose ourselves at half time

Kicking too much away, playing right into the hands of Fin, Price and Hogg

Big improvement needed the second half

Hope Halfpenny is ok, but he's been weak, which is unusual

Honestly, can Gareth Davies not see Biggar? He's passed behind him 2 or 3 times and it kills any possibility of attacking

Could easily be 20 odd up already

We're gifting too much possession from the boot

Not mentioning Halfpennys defensive blunder

We need to improve

Gareth has kicked far too much away

He can't box kick well enough to put any pressure at all on the opposition

Every time he hoofs it it just gifts them the ball

Not perfect, but with 3rd, 4th and 5th choice centres on the pitch at the end, and Sheedy missing a couple of sitters it’s all on for theTriple Crown in 2 weeks!

Gareth Davies

Biggar

Wyn Jones by the way... If he says fit he will be wearing a. Lions suit come summer.

Gareth Davies is a fine rugby player but terrible scrum half. His basics are barely pro standard.

Lloyd Williams is a better nuts and bolts scrum half. The cupboard is quite bare.

"Tbf, Tompkins played out of position for 50 minutes after Willis came on for Halfpenny "

Looked to me like he didn't know what position he was in for the entire match. His marking was terrible and his lack of commitment to the tackle was unforgiveable in a 12 Jersey.

There were far to many basic errors from experienced players yesterday especially the kicking game we kick far to much ball away then spend periods defending! I thought the bench had a good impact on the game but worrying that we don't have a half back pairing that is any good, Gareth Davies and Biggar are terrible at the moment.

Agree Biggar’s out of form at the moment, and the bench had a much better impact on the game yesterday than I thought, but assuming Halfpenny’s not selected (injury or not) then we can’t risk Sheedy’s goal kicking so they’ll start with Biggar.

If Johnny and North are fit we will have an exciting back line.

Halfpenny is finished but we will struggle with goal kicking, as it looks like Bigger is also. We now have two great wings with Liam at 15, should be the way fwd. Loyd Williams must join the party now but 10 is a big problem. I still fancy bringing Jamie Roberts in alongside George for the England game.

Tbf Watkin isn't a 13.

Apart from Foxy there is no top level out and out 13, most are 12s who switch purely because they have no choice.

Quality out and out 13s are a rare find these days

Think Foxy might be finished at this level - too many injuries. This is why Picac’s pushing North at 13.

I’m a right negative cunt, who happily admits (ok, bows and scrapes) when MissP is proved right.

Very pleased for Halalolo. Beard too, particularly his influence in mauls - an aspect of the game that was never that great under Gatland, even with Charteris around.

Agree about Watkin - very different defending at 13 to 12. Don’t feel he should get stick.

In a packed stadium i would be more confident. Cardiff does put the fear of god into England and they rattle easily if you stick it up em early on but behind closed doors and with so many players out of form or true position, not sure where that rattle is going to come from. Should be a great contest but ohhh soooo nervous.

Strong rumours Hardy will start instead of Davies. I'm happy with that as Hardy is the better scrum half in the basic sense, though Davies is much the better athlete.

Strong rumours Hardy will start instead of Davies. I'm happy with that as Hardy is the better scrum half in the basic sense, though Davies is much the better athlete. "

Also flying about that Foxy may start at 12 inside George

Bit of an odd one that with Williams and Halaholo with fit

Hardy ahead of Davies can kond of be expected, as Davies has had a mediocre season at best, and his kicking game gives too much possession away, shocking box kicker

Totally agree with you there Miss P, Davies pass has been slow and game management none existent with his pointless kicking, forwards pick themselves and just hope the bench is as strong again. Whole backline is a lottery apart from Zammit, Williams and Halfpenny just for his kicking!

So Foxy and North midfield. Hope JD is actually fit.

Feel sorry for Johnny Williams, I thought his distribution might be the better option.

Hardy at 9 is a plus.

He must be seeing something in jd in training. He seems to have lost a step in pace so not as effective at 13 but he has played 12 a lot so hopefully the gamble pays off.

Halaholo on the bench is a good decision as he brings an element of x factor

Do happy navidi is back, we need to match their power game

Guscott made interesting point..

Is privac kiwi sizing us....

Like New Zealand we are now rarely leaving there 22 without putting points on the board...they soon add up..

England will be livid not with the decisions but their own Ill discipline....golden rule no. 1 you dont leave their 22 without points on the board..

Golden rule no.2 you dont turn your backs when you've conceded a penalty...

West Wales and Cardiff

When the ref signals that play can restart in the first try, England players have already fanned out to the opposite touchline to the way Biggar went. They are not in a huddle.

LRZ does touch the ball forward for me, but it doesn’t matter. My understanding has always been that it only becomes a knock-on if it touches the ground or another player. It touches him again, then goes backwards. It seemed fine to me.

The fact it went forward from his hand doesn’t make it a forward pass - think how many times you see players juggling a ball a few times before catching it while running.

What it highlights is that many pundits have a very shaky understanding of the rules.

For a player to give 5 penalties away and not been yellow carded is another mistake by the ref! Zammit knocked the ball forward no doubt about that but I thought the 1st try was fine Biggar hadn't signaled to the posts and until he does you don't turn your back on him whatever the ref is saying.

France have looked the stronger and more consistent team, but I think a lot will depend on how many of the squad suffered ill effects of Covid and how they’re getting back to fitness. The Scotland game will be a good marker as to how they’re playing. Let’s not forget that Scotland are looking stronger than they have over the last few years and could turn them over.

But I do think France may turn us over in Paris

It’s has, just a shame the crowds couldn’t be at the stadiums. We go to one or two games each year and we had hoped to be in Paris this year

Not matter what happens in Paris, the English aren’t lifting the title this year

Teams out early

Gone full stength, good to see to keep momentum

Only changes in the starting 15 from England are Hill in the row with AWJ and Gareth in at 9 for the injured Hardy

Ball and Lloyd Williams slot in on the bench, with Carre and Wainwright the other 2 bench changes.

Other than maybe giving Sheedy a whole game, I'm happy with that. Keep that momentum going and not taking Italy lightly is the right way to go

Agreed, secure the win, we can always take key players off after that for a rest.

Strong team. I understand the arguments to blood new players or give the new generation more game time but it’s also a competition. We need to ensure a bonus point win. Let’s not forget that we are only on a three game winning streak.

In the same token though, Italy are super physical in the breakdown. Perhaps we should start with our strength on the bench and bring them on when the Italians are inevitably knackered so not to risk injury blows going to France.

Heads of the Valleys

Would have rested Biggar this weekend and give Sheedy the starting spot.

Start with the strong team and hopefully put the game to bed by 50mins and get the main guys off early.

Would have like to seen them ditch a back in the subs for a extra forward so we can rest the back row

I love both myself, hopefully she's now on the right path to cheering on Wales in all sports!

She does but rugby was always a sore point with her and her Dad as it got more coverage than football but that has changed now.

She is a very proud Welsh woman who is a member of Plaid Cymru and Yes Cymru and will be voting for the first time in May

Could all come down to points difference if we don't beat France so we need to make it convincing today

Exactly, we haven't set the 6 nations alight yet but wouldn't it be great if we beat Italy and then go on and play great rugby and blow France off the pitch like we did to the English when we beat them 30-3 to take the title from them

Problem with Italy is I can't see any way of them improving, and their club sides are the same

I watch Zebre and Benetton play week in week out and apart from the occasional win (and Benetton had a strong year a couple of seasons back) they are usually bottom of the table

Maybe bringing in a relegation system to the 6N would be an idea

I don't know

I didn't see an issue with the old 5 Nations myself
