I think it's likey April from what I hear.

LOT'S of people are gonna be 'climbing the walls' by April without a gym!!!

Sure glad the first thing I did when we moved here was have my own gym built that's open 24hrs a day

I do feel for those that are stuck without

Don't forget there are many ways to get in a maintenance workout using a tree, chairs, a log for squats, shoulder pressing, benching etc

I almost joined gym again just before first lockdown as not been for years. Thinking about getting some resistance bands for now as better than nothing and you can use them anywhere you go

I use resistance bands and bodyweight exercises now as gyms seem a long way from opening.

I find I can get a decent workout in, apart from legs.

Looks like a home gym is the next best option.

Honestly, I spend far too long on the Internet (don't agree, it wasn't a free pass at an insult.. ).

Allegedly the 'best' ways to keep fit involve using only the human body itself as it's own resistance.

How many times can you press up? 90? Impressive. Now how fast can you reach 90? And then, how long does it take you to recover before you can do another 90? Dare to go to 100?

Gym-honed honeys will laugh at the numbers but the basic principle is sound. Find your natural maximum, and increase it.

Just be sure that you can get yourself over an 8ft fence without breaking a sweat. Just in case the zombies come

They do, but 150lbs isn't that much for a deadlift or a squat. Plus resistance bands feel very different to weights, with very little resistance at the bottom of the movement compared to the top.

But needs must.

I’ve got a bit of weights at home but it’s not enough ! and everywhere sold out. The more body weight I do the more weight I lose lol typical!

I'm making do with some Dumbells, kettlebell and a barbell, enough weight for upper body stuff and some light squats/deadlifts but not heavy enough compared to what I'd use in the gym. But needs must. And will start running again when the kids are back in school, although I actively dislike running

I wouldn't recommend running, too many negatives to outweigh the benefits.

Cycling is better and if you cycle bodybuilding style you'll get a really good workout

All that is needed to build a good set of legs is cycling....my style and squats...my style

Depends what your goals are. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss running. Hill sprints for example are a pretty good way to improve power and burn a ton of calories.

Not gonna get right into detail, far too many studies to quote.

Your not gonna burn half the calories hill sprinting compared to my style cycling and squatting

Not quick to dismiss, bodybuilders have known for decades the downside of running jogging.

Please Google weights vs cardio and not just read several studies but LOOK at the images of the body shapes alone

Running....saggy butt,chest,face...basically sagging of the skin.

As you age less collagen produced

You won't build a hood set of legs running either lol.

MUST cycle and squat ....proof is in the shape.

I never said to run exclusively, absolutely agree that some resistance movements like squats are needed for quad development.

And I didn't advocate steady state jogging either, though if you want to improve cardiovascular performance and VO2 max then there are benefits. All about your goals and what you enjoy doing imo.

Then we have diet which I never really pay attention to but really should

Anyway, off for a surf as my daily exercise.

Guess I'll have to double up then and get more, never used them myself

I wasn't asking for recommendations but thanks. Running along with weight/ resistance training at home works well for me when I can't access the gym. Everyone is different, and different things work for different people. Exercise isn't a one size fits all thing

While you all might be missing lifting your weights and that at gyms,

You should all feel sorry for the wrestlers, boxers, jiu jitsu guys who can’t train and can’t even supplement it with a home workout

I don't think people are competing for sympathy. Just venting frustrations and sharing ideas. Anyone who is unable to access their usual form of training regardless of what that might be are probably equally as frustrated as each other. For many, training in a structured environment is as much about mental health as physical health and many struggle to adapt without it. We can all be supportive regardless of our situation
