"Hoping for a few days away in the Bangor area early September - looking for recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Many thanks."
Going to be pedantic here...
You heading to Bangor as in the university city in gwynnedd or Bangor-ysa-coed better known as Bangor-on-Dee the welsh marcher village about 5 miles east of wrexham..
If the village you've got 2 pubs royal oak and the buck...it is b not an f.
Royal oak more of a dining venue though the buck does do bar food.
Both venues sell Wrexham lager the oldest lager in the UK not just Wales.
You also have the famous racecourse...as in Bangor on dee racecourse not wrexham racecourse..the bangor on dee racecourse is the only major racecourse in uk without a grandstand...on the other hand the wrexham racecourse is the worlds oldest continually used international football stadium.
As said 5 miles away is the delightful border market town of wrexham..
Market day is monday, though once upon a time buses from all over north wales for its famous market..these days youd be hard pressed to locate the actual market stalls never mind those attending the market. |

We are staying at a place called Llangeod which is close to Bangor; does that help?
