Schools in Wales to reopen!

From the 29th June to 27th July

But only 1/3 of pupils at any one time...

Staggered starts, lessons and breaks also so the kiddies will have a chance to "check in, catch up and prepare for summer and September" and that everyone is "mentally, emotionally and practically prepared for the new normal in September"

Of course the unions are kicking up a fuss....

Is it too little or plain pointless?

Report did say they have 3 and a half weeks to watch and wait. In other words if it goes tits up in England, Wales won't reopen its schools.

I'll probably keep mine off til September

Unless they allow them to be collected/dropped off by grandparents I won't be able to manage it due to my shifts anyway so they will have to carry on staying at home in the "care" of my eldest until alternative childcare is permitted

I just can’t fathom how my children aren’t allowed to go into their grandparents house but can go to school.

I’m leaning toward keeping them off, which our head is completely supportive of.

Even though my daughter isn’t in the shielding category she’s still at risk being type one diabetic due to illness in general can cause complications.

Urgh it’s so tricky knowing what the right thing to do is

Yep

The logistics of it will be impossible for me until they will be allowed to go to my parents before/after school when I work

That is the only reason I will have to keep them off, at least on the days when I work

For those of us that are non furloughed/ still working, we will have to be very flexible on how we rota taking the kids to school.

Or rather have helpful empolyers

They're not exactly proposing a straight forward soliton

I may just take mine to school on my days off

Be impossible when I'm in work

Mine won’t be going back, oldest uses the school bus which I won’t be happy sending her on and she’s a little paranoid since grandparents were hospitalised. My younger two have only just got used to being home sending them in to be off again is pointless and will unsettle them a lot more. My son on the other hand really wouldn’t care either way!

Definitely not sending my little 1 back until its safe to do so. Really not worth the risk considering how undecided the government sound themselves on it.

Exactly. Else they will just stay home until September. Makes no odds to me really

Ours will be staying home until after the summer at least as one is on the vulnerable list. The younger one is old enough to understand luckily but whether that will last once she knows her friends are back in school & seeing each other I don’t know...

It’ll be a difficult choice to make when it comes to it because they can’t stay off indefinitely or until a vaccine comes along.

Swaying towards sending mine back who’s in year 6 as she needs some kind of structure and transition before high school in September. Her school is quite small and always very well organised so I’m not worried.

That said any hint of a rise in cases relating to schools I will take her out again.

Eldest in year 11 there is no point in going back as all her exams have been cancelled anyway.

I totally respect all parents views on this these are my personal views

Kids will be going back for 1/3 of the time, so 1 1/2 to 2 days a week, and online tutorials at other times.

So realistically they'll have no more than 8 days in school over those four weeks

There is an incubation period with Covid. By the time a rise is reported, it’s already out there sadly, as was seen at the outset of all this
