Terrified, not so much for me but the thought of losing my wife who has a heart condition. Then the amount of other people dying is heartbreaking. It's just awful, making me feel sick all the time |

That must be really hard, worrying about your wife.
I am lucky in that respect - my close family and my partner are generally young (all under 60) and no really serious health conditions. But I do have asthma, so the though of getting it and having complications is really scaring me. |

My ex wife called, she has all the symptoms and has been told 14 days inside. That includes my children and her new partner, I have offered to help in any way I can.
It’s finally hit close to myself the virus, I still care for her but my children could be affected or in danger. Knowing a teenager died recently, makes me really scared about my children suffering or dying.
Now I’m scared really scared. |

We're being ultra careful that's all we can do, any of us but there's no rhyme or reason to who seems to get really ill, a 13 year old dies whereas George Alagiah who's having chemo is fine. Everything is so uncertain |

Yeh , all I see are ambulances racing pass my house with lights on , old man across the road was put into a body bag and into a private ambulance, it’s closer than we think , each day the amount of people dying is getting higher , and we haven’t hit the peak yet , dark times indeed , but we ALL have to stay positive and look after each other and what happens will happen |

You are definitely not alone OP.
Watching the news makes me feel sick, seeing all the hospitals and morgues being set up etc. Young people die-ing as well as older people and alone is heartbreaking.
Wondering if things will ever be the same.
My kids are trying their best but they are lost, I can see sadness in their eyes |

Prove it?
Please don't tell me to search this obscure website or read an article written ten years ago or that a newspaper said this.
Cold hard proof of what you are claiming please coz as far as I can see just about every country worldwide is taking this extremely seriously and the amount of money being poured into this is also proof.
Oh and btw my wife's a frontline nurse and trust me she's taking it extremely seriously and is seeing the carnage first hand.
So please I ask you in a respectful way in the spirit of debate and open-minded discussion.
Please provide absolutely 100% proof please. |

We aren't scared as there is no point in being scared. All that will do is damage your mental wellbeing.
We are aware but are having to continue with getting on with our daily lives as best we can.
At the end of the day what will be will be. All we can do is protect ourselves and others as much as we can and that's it. No point in working yourself up into an unhealthy mental state. |

It the failing of preparation that winds me up. Years of cuts, nothing in storage for such a 'preducted' event.
People in Spain and Italy making their own PPE just to work to save others.
For years those warning another was due were shot down as scare mongerers. Bill Gates 2015, for one - Search YouTube for his TED talk, then Desease X in 2017, yet they did nothing to prepare.
What the hell posessed them to go for "Heard Immunity" at the outset after seeing what was happening in Wuhan. It is this musled delay that is costing the lives we are seeing today.
How nany times did we hear "it's just a bad case of flu"?
That failed approach is the tide thats going to hit us this week and next.
Going forward, there is going to have to be a travel curcuit breaker (by referendum) which the WHO can trigger and isolate problem areas in the future to protect the rest of the world while it is dealt with.
The number of times I heard "this is a democracy and we prevent people travelling". Is this the cost if freedom to travel, dessimated families and trashed economy.
Outbound travel should have been stopped and inbound to return through quaratines before being released into general population.
Yes, its painful and inconvenient for those returning but for the sake of a few, many, many people will die in one to two weeks time and beyond and many don't yet know it.
We are going to have to ask some hard questions in the future else it will happen again and again.
The mortality rate is high due to being so infectious, imagine if SARS was so efficicient at transmission at 10% mortality. It can and will hapoen and the world should have been better prepared.
MERS - killed my father a few years ago, at the time he was given his last rights in Intensive Care on a cruise ship. He survived but with severley damaged kidneys which then took 3 years to kill him where weekly dialsys stopped working for him.

I'm really scared, I have have lost people, I have had friends loose people and I have friends whose parents are very ill now. I really want this to be over as soon as possible. I don't like talking to my family about how scared I am because I don't want to make them more worried than they already are. |

We are all scared, but we'll get through this.
Just keep to advice given to stay home and limit going out to shops and try to keep to quiet times. Return anither time if looks busy.
Wear disposable gloves while out, throw them away before touching car or door handles, use hand sanitiser then as soon as your hands as soon as you get in. Try to use one hand to push trolley, open freezer doors and the other to handle food into trolley, use this hand to unload into belt.
There are websites selling disposable gloves, I found the last lot I bought on a hairdressing suplliers. Nitrile are less prone to tearing.
It is starting to gain traction that wearing a mask outdoors is recommended although although only reduces risk as well as have a shower if been out.
There is a lot of emphasis on the virus being 'sticky' which would be logical if it's natural host is furry such as a bat in order to transmit to others in close contact within a colany grooming each other.
Treat everything while out as contaminated and keep your home space seperate from outdoor stuff such as bags, coats, hats and gloves.
Double bag shopping and leave outer bags in hallway. Wash hands after handling post or deliveries.
Be wary of wind direction as 2 metres is a guide. If talking, ensure good distances and keep wind direction to the side not straight at you.
Avoid pleasentry's at checkouts, nod and smile but dont enter into
any conversation at close quarters.
Use Pay at Pump when getting fuel, dont go into a kiosk. Wear dispisable gloves to enter PIN number and while dispensing fuel. A friend thinks she caught something as had only picked uo fuel and was very ill for two weeks early March although better now - could have been Flu.
Try not to use hands opening doors while out. Use elbows where you can, gloves or tissues.
Wash outdoor clothing regulary on a standard wash with soap, Dettol additive is nowhere as good as simple soap and a good slosh around.
If dropping shopping off to isolated family members, double bag and ensure in-house bags are only used inside and out-house bags in the car or hallway and insist they wash hands after handling.
The next week or two is going to be the highest risk as those still moving around before lockdown are about to enter the infectious stage, so restrict shopping and going out. After this it should start to fall as people get better or need hospital plus having symtoms, they should be not going out.
In many ways fear is good for us humans as it makes us alert, but please dont let it consume you.
I am happy to contact if you want to PM if you want someone to communicate with.
Just remember - it will be over and the more we isolate, the quicker it will be. |

"I have a compromised immune system, but tbh, I'm not going to let it worry me. I'm self isolating as per govt guidance, and that's really all I can do. "
It's easier for the people that have issues than those worrying about them that feel so helpless and useless |

Personally I'm getting sick and tired of all the ridiculous conspiracy theory posts, when all the proposed 'facts' can be easily disproven by a small amount of research, and by research I don't mean YouTube. |

Scared...but also hopeful that we can learn from this and create a better world for ourselves.
For example, I think we won't take things for granted as much.
Stay strong! |
