When lock down ends won’t the old and vulnerable people still be at the same risk as now of getting Covid 19 ?

Yes... But isn't the idea to attempt to eradicate the infection? And to be able to control the spread easier with fewer cases?

Possibly. But if this lockdown works the NHS won't be so overloaded and would be in a position to provide more thorough help. Plus more time would have elapsed so we may know a bit more about it.

We will get to see what the long term after effects of having the virus has on people.

Let’s just hope it’s not too detrimental.

Well I think it will flare up again, after all it started with just ONE person...... It has to be completely eradicated worldwide or we will be back to square one!

you wont completely eradicate it. You just have to let us build up immunity to it.. like we have the flu

. So the older people and very vulnerable will still be at high risk when the lockdown ends , my older parents won’t be any safer than they are now until there’s a vaccine ??

Apparently life may never return to the way we knew it before . It won’t be just a case of going online and booking a holiday whenever we want . If we go to another country we may be expected to quarantine after .

Impossible to eradicate this virus globally.. Even if we manage to wipe out the virus in the UK, without a vaccine or herd immunity how long until it spirals again. In January this virus didn’t exist in the UK, zero cases, a small number of infected people arrived and look where we are now... we would have to prevent International travel indefinitely. Right now herd immunity, acquired from infection or vaccination is the only thing that will shut down this virus. I hope I am wrong but my estimate is we have now had 150,000-200,000 people infected, we are a very, very, very long way from herd immunity

And one of the chinese blokes working there dressed as Batman. It seems this extremely true fact was somehow lost in translation.

Considering the amount of elderly I see out and about not social distancing, we are a long way off some normality, there are still 1.5 million vulnerable people in this country, how many of them are staying in...

Also potentially as we have the flu jab available every year for the vunerable, will we have a Coronavirus one as well?

I think we will all get this virus at some point but the plan to slow it down is to give the hospital a chance to be able to help everyone who has it that needs a hospital bed. In some countries they started off saving the old , now they are just leaving them to die and fight to save the young. Having to choose who lives and who dies. If we slow it down and make it manageable for the NHS to cope there's a better chance of everyone getting the medical help they need. Which will result in fewer deaths. After that. Hopefully we will have an immunity.

It’s obvious that they will have to let people back out again at most another 8 weeks probably advise don’t visit older vulnerable people , can see the vulnerable being in lockdown for very long time

We ALL have a (variable) level of vulnerability....its where we draw the line....
