I'd not get caught up with a them and us, as we all have value. The civil service has been harshly savaged by cuts, so isn't the healthiest place to be.
Divide and conquer is a pursuit to mean ee don't focus on the what's really important - resist the urge at all costs. |

Without civil servants the country would fall apart.
However the likes of the mail implies everyone is a pencil pusher and the feeble minded believe it. |

It’s circumstances outside almost everyone’s control.
If it’s not possible to make a safe work environment or work from home then reducing the work force until it is safe environment , if it is possible is obviously correct.
It would be hypocritical of the civil service to not follow the government advice and presumably they can curtail your banishment if things change?

thanks for the concern (auto immune problems after having pneumonia by the way!!)
its not that fact i don't want to work! its the fact that we have been told under the government guidelines we cant!!!
those who have jobs that you can work from home can and are, my job i am afraid i can't!
you do realise that "civil servants" are not just people sitting in offices being paid a lot of money in london don't you! most civil servants aren't the best paid people in the world! and they do a lot of the tireless donkey work with little recognition |

basically my understanding (and you have to realise i have not been in the office for two weeks) is that everyone who can basically work from home, and those who are in less pressured depts at the moment are scrambling around those depts that are under pressure...
for example, i know that my dept has been hit hard... so instead of being open 8-6, at the moment they are opening 9-4, just so they know that they can try and maximise the amount of bodies that can take calls.
its trying to be smart with the less bodies you have.....

Civil service affects us all at different levels.
Highways agency are crown as I remember
Police are crown/local government
Fire local government
Social workers government
Highways (maintenance etc) local government
Waste management local and district
Schools - local government
Does this help to know what a civil servant is? |

don't worry.... you were just curious and i am sure that other people probably were as well.....
you weren't the people who used it as a excuse to have a pop at people......
unfortunately... one person here was!!! I don't think they will ever come back to this thread (if i were them i wouldn't)
I just believe that in times like this, this is when you see the true side of people.... and it doesn't get much more real than that!!! |

can i just say a big thank you to all the people who have sent me private messages, sometimes when you are down and frustrated, it brings you back to a level where you have faith in humanity
when i had pneumonia and i was just the right side of not ending up in an ICU, after telling my doctor how long i had been coping with it before my body gave out said something that stuck with me...
"as much as you want to keep going, being superman is way above your pay grade!!..... so learn to listen to your body!"
the civil service are saving a lot of people from themselves, a lot of people would be at work now given an option, they are not giving us a option... because in the long run, we are more use to them alive than in a hospital, or worse! |
