the wetlands

Has anyone considered how much extra water is being used nyn everyone washing their hands several times an hour ?

It's unavoidable I know, but I also noticed how many people are washing their cars and pressure washing driveways just for something to do

Food rationing no, water rationing very probably and soon.

Have you not noticed the winter we have just been through, every reservoir must be full to busting. Consumption will have dropped in other areas; less glasses to wash in the pub... Industrial consumption is likely to be down.

The reservoirs are usually full this time of year.

No idea how much industrial use will be down but residential use up very significantly. Hand washing is very wasteful but as i said unavoidable at the moment

Has anybody looked out of the window this winter?

There's been enough of the bloody stuff falling from the sky to make sure reservoirs are full - we've been flooded about three times....

Chuffing ‘eck, we have had more water then we ever had.

We are at a 1000 ft and we are only just surface drying out.

The moors will be feeding for months.

Older Hot Bearded Guy

Funny you should say that... I got a random message from a mate this afternoon saying he’d bought a hose from Argos to wash his paving with, because he was bored.

I will now stop washing my hands or showering, I will flush the toilet once a week on a Sunday and will try and collect the moisture that gathers over night on the lawn in a glass to use as drinking water, any one who does not take these steps is just pure selfish......tune in tomorow for the next scare mongering ridiculous thread on if we are going to run out of oxygen because of coronavirus shutting the oxygen factories down.

Think we’ve had enough rain to cover a few more daily hand washes. No restaurants or pubs using any water too why do people need to start panicking about everything

There was a report in some North of England newspapers earlier in the month on this, but the overall state of the UK's reservoirs is they're all at healthy levels.

This one goes in the same pigeon hole as the one about the upcoming fuel shortage..... Yep, really likely with about 85% of the traffic off the road and a dropping fuel price.

Some folk do not look at or consider the FACTS before posting...

From what I've bèen reading around here, the biggest concern would be a shortage of batteries...

Ow the irony, I started reading this thread and it started raining. (though I personally feel the clouds knew I was washing the bedding with intent to hang it out in the garden)

If people are going out less and not meeting others, there's not a big need for people to have to wash their hands much differently from before. You may be drinking more tea, coffee, alcohol than before, so will use the loo a bit more but won't need to wash hands until anyone returns from outside or items enter your home, additionally to after the loo.
