Dyson ventilators

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I've looked about but I cant find the cost of these per unit anywhere.

But i did see the cost of a new one that was developed by oxford kings collage that would be ready to go almost immediately for a £1000 each.

So does anyone know the cost of a dyson vent?

I think the cost would irrelevant at this point.

If Dyson has the manufacturing capability and parts to successfully supply these units he will wait until the dust has died down before he asked for some sort of payment.

That's if he does. It might be good will on his part and he should be commended for that.

Either way it's good publicity for him and his company.

It's only at the concept/pre-production stage at the moment.

The cost will be commercially sensitive.

Are you asking so you can buy and donate a few to the NHS?

No he is making 10000 for which the uk will pay for ..the a further 5000 which he will donate 80% to for free.

I just think some accountability needs to be here as the one from kings collage has that accountability to it when they both will take around two weeks to be in use.

There was an interesting article on BBC Wales a couple of days ago about a company who has come up with a robust, quite cheap one that also cleans the air in its vicinity..

Think the Welsh government has ordered 100..

Well if the UK are paying for them I would assume they have already agreed the price.

Like someone has said the it will be a sensitive and closed subject at the moment.

Why are you so worried about the cost?

Not about putting a price on someone's head when there are 2 options available.

People are always quick to point to a ebay or amazon seller ...even in parliament for profiteering.

As I said I know the cost of one so it should be available for the other

Dunno. Shame they to blow rather than suck. Otherwise most of the girls on here (according to verifications) could do the job!

The dysons are likely to be shit, because they’ve been developed to be extremely low-tech and have been designed very quickly and to a budget.

The drager ones you really want are £25-30,000 upfront with a service commitment on top.

Healthcare is fucking expensive

The one I seen that was developed at oxford kings collage looked brilliant and sony are ready to go with making the circuit boards and can do 5000 per week...they have been tried and tested and only cost a grand each. So as I said it's about accountability. Especially as parliament is now closed for a month and maybe a lot longer.

You said it yourself it's down to availability and cost.

Drager may be doing the same thing in Germany.

As for being built like shit you don't know that yet.

Would you turn down the Dyson ventilator if your life depended on it?

For a grand each they will be shit. Hopefully they won’t need to be any better than that, and hopefully they’ll only be in service for a few weeks.

After all, a ventilator ain’t something to scrimp on. It dies, you do.

Fact that you know the availibilty and supply of both units?

I agree with you that we need them and we have a solution I just find it strange that your looking for someone to take accountability for something that is needed.

We are going to have to make hard choices. We could have infinite ventilators but we don’t have the beds and people to work them.

If this hits the worst case scenario then it will not matter how many or who is making them.

Your missing my point as one is as good as the other as far as I can see.

I agree we need them but it seems the government is just going ahead with the dyson uncosted one. So in the short term I say bring it on with both as we are going to need way more then 10000...we need that amount now! By the time 10000 hits the nhs we will need 10 times that.

My gripe is that a openly costed one does not seem to be in the running when we need it

So does anyone know the cost of a dyson vent?"

I put up about this on the Forums last week about Dyson who had produced a Ventilator in only 8 days.

But it's still at the prototype stage but being urgently assessed by NHS Engineering experts.

It doesn't need electricity, just oxygen so can be set up almost anywhere, in any medical environment.

As said, it's still being evaluated, but they say they could start production within days of approval.

Therefore, costs at this stage aren't publicly known.
