We've all been looking at other countries as to what measures we take here in the UK.
A lot of the world has been focusing on Italy with its high death rate.
Here are the findings of deaths in Italy during the Corona crisis.
Italy has a high number of elderly and is also quite high on flu .
It has been noted that there was also a pneumonia pandemic happening since November.
These are the official findings and as noted many had underlying problems, some with more than one comorbidites.
Also note that you do not die of Corona but die with it.

Our stats shouldn't reflect those that is happening in Italy.

The praise Germany has been receiving for keeping it's mortality rate low (0.5%) comes from their more extensive testing. Hence they have a high number of diagnosed cases (they aim to diagnose as many as possible irrespective of status).
Also it's hard to compare mortality ratios and spreads country to country, the spread of corona on Italy is thought to be exacerbated by the higher number of elderly relatives living with extended family as opposed to other countries (Germany, UK) where people leave the family home at a younger age and elderly are more likely to live separately. |

You can't compare London to the rest of the country (or to Italy) for a couple of reasons.
Basically, London relies on an overcrowded public transport network which is obviously a huge Petri dish. Also more Londoners live in close proximity to each other and in shared accomdation (flat shares and bedsits and maisonettes etc). So somebody who has contracted it on the tube could then potentially spread it around the surfaces in their dwelling which are shared by other people. |

The only stats to look at are deaths... And these seem comparable for all countries Italy Spain,UK, France (Germany unknown) you need to trend the data... The UK people do not learn anything... Stay at home means stay at home.. I still here that people are still visiting girlfriends in houses that are not their own... You have just doubled the chance of a household infection... If everyone stayed at home... (who can stay at home) the peak would be in three weeks... Italy has so much more control of the situation (at least in the north of Italy) than the UK |

My sister lives in Milan. I was due to visit at Christmas but got a new job in November the day before booking my flight, so didn’t go.
My brother-in-law was ill end of November, then my sister. My brother-in-law worked from home to sick to travel and my sister became ill. She said it was a good thing I didn’t come as they'd never been that sick in their lives.
They didn’t fully recover until mid January. They're convinced now, they had the coranavirus. |

Also more Londoners live in close proximity to each other and in shared accomdation (flat shares and bedsits and maisonettes etc). So somebody who has contracted it on the tube could then potentially spread it around the surfaces in their dwelling which are shared by other people. "
I wonder in normal times how often the handrails on metro/tube trains and ATM keypads are cleaned properly. Considering biros like corona has a layer of fat and can live up to a reported 17 days, those surfaces must be responsible for huge numbers of infections |

The reason why it happens more in italy and less in other countries is of few things and one is there it is tradition to live to together in generations there. |
