Discuss the future.

How are we going to stop the spread of viruses in the future?

What rights need to be taken away?

A social passport?

Social scoring?

Grass on your neighbours who invite friends round?

"Stop people selling live wild animals next to butchered ones.

Most likely from chimpanzees that had eaten monkey

The chimpanzees were then consumed by humans

Just for the record they have found the HIV virus in blood that was taken in 1959

I think its possible when all this is over there will be an international treaty for compulsory medical tests when travelling to susceptible countries where disease and poor hygiene are endemic.

That's EXACTLY what we were trying to tell you about Brexit. The difference with Brexit is that the food supply would have been interrupted and the panic buying would would have commenced with no re-filling of shelves.

You called it scaremongering. Exactly what people were saying about Coronavirus a few weeks ago.

Hopefully you'll listen now.

There should be some sort of world health committee..I know we have the world health organisation but they seem to be funded by the us.

I mean a proper scientific democratic organisation with reps from all over the globe.Tasked with helping the world deal with the next pandemic.

If we keep screwing up the environment by invading the natural, wild habitats of animals that haven't been exposed to humans and we destroy their habitat, sadly we will have more diseases like that.

So you want to cull people or limit them to one child policy like China?

How will you limit travel? Allow 1 trip a year 2 if they're good?

Sex spreads diseases

Didn't say i wanted to, but that is an answer to the original question.

And the internet enabling people to meet from a wider area of people also set the STI rate soaring in places that aren't usually rife.

People cause disease epidemics, the further they travel the wider they spread them. The more people there are in an area the less easy it is to contain, so logically having less people and restricting their travel equals easier to contain diseases or even prevent epidemics in the first place.

What about other coronavirus’ such as MERS. Should we ban camel rides which is believed to cause the spread? Should we have banned slaughter of pigs to prevent swine flu? As long as humans and animals interact there’s the risk.

The biggest hope for me is that next time there’s more of a global appreciation and a global response instead of by country and in some cases by town

For the vast majority life will be back to normal by christmas. For those that have sadly lost someone it will never be the same

I got 3 things that should be done once this is over (if this is ever over that is, now we have shown our superiour overlords all over the world how easy it would be to not only take away everyones rights but for us to hand it over on a silver platter whilst screaming and argueing with are neighbours, family, friends and loved ones to hand over their rights too without question).... but anywayyyy thats a whole other discussion.

But for now back to the topic at hand about discussing the future of and when this blows over.

1. All goverment funded and private funded reserarch into the development of man made diseases (believe it or not there is lists of man made deseases and all patented) should be abolished.

2. All types of wet markets and killimg and eating of exotic animal's should be banned world wide.

3. goverments the world over should now realise that we are not each others enemy's and somthing so microscopic can bring all worlds economys to an end in a click of the fingers.

So there for all those trillions of dollars/pounds we spend on nuclear weapons, warheads, bombs, and all that stuff that goes towards destructuon of other human life and every single penny of those trillions should be spent on the advancment and propsperity of all human kind maybe starting with the eradication of world hunger and homeless and then better health care (and free health care to every individual on earth), then better education and schools, maybe vast investmens into land where in every community where all types of foods can be grown (fruits and veg) and everyone gets to eat healthy foods for virtually free or very very cheap.

I dunno just running ideas through my head on how the world could be better if trillions wasnt spent on destructuon.

Ofcourse non of this will happn.

Those 3 things wont happen even though every normal common sense person would want it to.

Been giving this one some thought. It seems very likely CV has come from bats. Other diseases have originated in animals. Wonder why it has taken so long for these transfers to occur given that we, as humans, have shared the planet with other species for tens of thousands of years.

Answering my own question, guess increased population density and the easy availability of mass travel have been contributory factors... Does anyone know how the 1919-20 epidemic originated? Guess many would be "run down" with "shot" (excuse pun !!) immune systems after enduring the Great War....

Any other thoughts, people ??

It will make very little positive difference.

Money will still rule the world. The likes of Boris and Branson will feel 1% the impact that ordinary people will.

A fresh rise of austerity will be "justified."

Racism will continue to rise.

Poverty will increase exponentially.

Trump will be re-elected. Putin won't need to be.

Agree with both above. It has just hastened what was already happening in retail. Do wonder if there are some specialist retailer who could survive and even prosper?

Yes, in the end it will have to paid for. Our grandchildren will probably still be paying it off.

I do hope some of the mega rich individuals and corporations are forced to make their contribution. On past performance, I am not holding my breath... Doubt whether many/any of them will be forced into bankruptcy unlike many "normal" businesses, many of whom provide "real" services people need and often provide employment... Hope we stick with the ones who stuck by us, supermarkets as an example. My daughter works for Tesco and have to say they are being very supportive of their staff, mind you they need them and do have an income stream....

It's interesting times we live in.

A lot of people begging to be locked down from day one.

A lot of businesses and lives suffering.

Me personally think this is a live drill and testing the responses of the country's governments.

Now how we rate that response is up to you.

But life will never ever be the same again.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be.

Even the gov report states that too as it is no longer classed as a HCID.

High consequence infectious disease.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/high-consequence-infectious-diseases-hcid

I am not saying the virus doesn't exist and is not dangerous.

If you do have a good immune system you will fight it off.

However if you do mix with vulnerable people their immune systems aren't as good so will clog up the NHS beds. And those highly at risk will unfortunately die sooner.

It is interesting seeing other countries responses though and at what depth they will do to protect people.

Forced immunsiatons.

Complete lockdowns.

Martial law.

Quarantine tags

Heavy fines

Arrests

There is most definitely going to be a recession after this.

Have no idea how long for and we are all going to have to pay for it.

A global reset on world economies and a push for digital currency.

Restrictions on travel etc.

A bit like a new world order.

Be prepared for the long haul

This virus is here to stay until an antidote is found. Even if we eliminate it in the UK we still have every prospect of travellers bringing it back into the country and re infecting. Travel and holidays abroad will be a thing of the past for many years to come. As of 23rd of March all of our lives will never be the same.

Good to a post which is reasoned and thought out.

Yes, it a serious situation but there are plenty of examples of blind irrational, panic and hype. Not of course helped by some of the media...there as surprise.

Cool heads, steady nerve and a bit of luck should see us through it.

One stat: in Britain 1500 people die EVERY day (that was pre virus, actually a 2018 stat). Just brings some degree of proportion to the situation.

People will still be dieing of totally unrelated causes.
