... who are self isolating because of minor cold symptoms, feeling extremely frustrated that they can’t get back to the frontline to help?! Wish they would test NHS staff so people aren’t needlessly staying away from work when we are needed more than ever.

There's a change org petition to try get NHS staff tested.

not sure whether it will get a response as ideally it should be on the parliament petitions, but there's already over 1.1m signatures

Yeah already signed that. So frustrating! I want to help and I’m sat at home with a mild sore throat that’s probably a bit of a cold.

aw i know the frustration. but there's susceptibility even as a vector...i know a ward (nurses, docs and few patients) that all contracted the virus from one staff member few weeks ago and now things are chaos.

you wouldn't want to contract it while your immunity is down trying to fight your current sore throat. keep yourself safe to keep others safe, and you'll be back to work serving the public soon enough on full form

I stayed in bed for 2 days earlier this week as I had blocked sinuses and was sneezing. Didn't wanna spread my germs in the office and around patients. But I went back as I felt better and was getting bored at home.

Thanks ... trying to stay positive but.. checking emails from home daily and seeing the pressure my team is under and not being able to help is doing my head in!

Not atm but I have a long term health condition (only under active thyroid) so classes at at risk which is crap so I’m classes at at risk but worried I will be forced to isolate from Monday. NHS are saying people with long term conditions will be told to stay home from Monday I’m just hoping it’s just advisory and not compulsory I dared not being able to work x

Big up to all NHS staff. You are effectively gonna be the army for this country in the coming weeks, fighting the effects of this pandemic. You are the best that walk amongst us

I'm not NHS staff but I am front line, work with adults with learning disabilities. Yesterday, we got told we all have to self-isolate for 2 weeks (including agency staff and service users) as one service user got diagnosed with the virus. Nobody is getting tested unless they develop symptoms...

People isolating now will hopefully be ready to help in a couple weeks when the shit is really starting to hit the fan.

It would help if they tested staff so they have a clue as to whether they were now immune or not though....

It’s stupid, I’m a Nurse on an acute mental health ward so we get admissions who are so psychotically poorly they don’t even know who or where they are let alone answer any screening questions and the Ppe we have and contingency plans are shocking, It’s only a matter of days until ones comes in with it and we won’t kniw for ages. Then will somehow have to isolate them probably under restraint x

Right yeah cause if you just stop testing it’ll all just go away and there won’t be any more deaths .....

If they test us all and we all come back positive, the NHS is fucked. Hence why we aren't being tested.

Yup and nearly had to take 2 weeks off as my flatmate got symptoms. Someone saw sense and sorted me out for accommodation but that was nearly 2 weeks without an intensive care doc for a hospital with 50+ tubed covid patients

Good luck to you all in the coming weeks...

my sister is in the NHS and i try to talk to her every day....

i work for the civil service and i feel the same, because of my immune system i was on the "self isolation" list as of last tuesday... and i feel helpless being at home!

That’s so frustrating for you. So are you in isolation for 12 weeks now?

Watching your profile is raising my body temperature, heartbeat and part of the good, old pipework. I might start coughing from swallowing hard. I'm sure I'm not alone, and would label you a superspreader.

Seriously though, hope it's just a minor cold. I'm in Spain, and health and care workers are tested in drive thru tests. However, these facilities have only been up for a couple of days, and not everywhere.

I'm high risk & still working well above my hours. Mr KC is extremely high risk & is work from home - he has lots to do though - hes tasked with our staffing levels

I'm frustrated, angry & sad - we are working our collective bollocks off yet we dont have what we need to keep ourselves safe

This is going to get so much worse - if you can still be with your loved ones - enjoy them & cherish them x

It doesn't even make sense why they won't test those that are going to certainly be in contact with it. Those that are required to help deal with the consequences of it all.

Like that doctor who did actually have it, was treating patients for a few days but just thought he had a cold or something... Just mindless stupidity not to test.

There's also the false negative aspect. Just because you're negative at one point, it doesn't mean you won't be positive a few days later...

So how often should someone be tested? I suspect government want to err on side of caution and minimise contact to those who are well.

There are healthcare workers as patients now, let's minimise risk as much as possible.

It's frustrating for all involved, but everyone is playing their part in the bigger picture.

Just have to get the message to lay public about just sitting tight and stop spreading.
