Mrkinky mentioned the BBC pandemic programme from a couple of years ago on another thread.

Brilliant programme which conducts a large scale experiment to show the potential spread of a virus and how vaccines are created.

It's a good watch:

Yes! I watched it yesterday and can’t help thinking how fortunate it was that they were able to build and test a model based on almost 30000 results.

So true, I hope they've been able to use the data in some way to help the current situation

surrey

Funny coincidence that the bbc showed it starting in Haslemere surrey which was the exact same place the virus was identified to have first transmitted from person to person

That’s exactly what I was thinking. When we were told the best thing in the first instance was washing hands they really weren’t kidding.

The Satan Bug from 1965 and feature film Contagion in 2011 ring bells with me. War of the Worlds too.

Even the story of Moses where God sends a plague to wipe out the first born male in Egypt.

It's always likely hard to predict a bit like an earthquake or tsunami it likes to creep up and suddenly surprise.

God, nature and man himself have the future in their hands.

They may also use the data from the clinical trial that went wrong a few years back. They all experienced a Cytokine Storm which is exactly what this virus does at its worst - they had to find a way to stop it
