I have 4 packs of 10, haven't worn them yet but may consider when entering supermarket

Also have medical gloves, have about 4 boxes off 100 which I buy regular for poo patrol, wear when picking up all the garden shit, and wear when preparing raw meat for the dogs

will use for shopping too now

Best have eye wear too oh and don't forget the gloves.

Its been said on the media ages ago that it's useless wearing them.

Mind you, on the same day they said there is a shortage!

Thank god I don't read these mix messages everyday.....

I have about 2000 3M dust/mist masks in my workshop but I haven't considered wearing one in public yet but I think I probably will when I go shopping in the not so distant future. I know they aren't the answer but they have to do more harm than good providing you are sensible about their use

i work with lots of suppliers in China & HK and they are relentless in telling me that we should all be wearing masks as it is a barrier.

When you sit down and consider it why do the nhs workers etc wear masks and ppe equipment?

would only wear one if I suspected I may have it. And was had no choice but to go out or around my house around other people. As they have said it's unlikely to stop you catching it but does help stop spreading it

This..... The paper ones you see most commonly are designed to catch droplets etc....that you exhale. A dentist, as an example, will wear one to stop stuff dropping on you, the patient. They do nothing to filter the incoming air. You need something more complex to do that...

I have a number of respirators. Not worn them out the house yet but if I enter an environment with Covid I’m going in gloved and masked up.

Unless it's a P3 (not the paper surgical type) mask that you've been professionally fit tested for, you're wearing sealed eye protection and have infection control experience (ingrained habits like not touching your face, etc), those masks aren't going to do anything apart from making you look like a tool :p

No. Studies show they make no difference when worn by untrained lay people, and I'd rather medical staff have the protection they need.

Wash your hands, don't touch your face.

Co.Antrim

Only seen 3 people wearing them so far but one was a very Vulnerable young man with Down Syndrome and his Mother, the other was a young lady wearing some sort of fancy Scarf with the breathing filter on it.

Lots of people wearing surgical gloves though.

They wear masks to prevent them passing on anything to the patients they are treating. Not the other way round.

Common misconception.

Also they are only effective for about 15 minutes so are changed regularly.

Manchester (she/her)

In parts of Asia it's a cultural thing.

Where it's not a cultural thing, it provides little or no protection if used improperly (following correct donning and doffing procedures) and should be saved for those with greater need and/or who know how to use them properly.

Stay away from people and wash your hands.

As there is a shortage would you consider contacting your local hospitals to see if they need any?
