So who is going to have to carry on working through this?
My husband works in the leisure industry and will be laid off from this weekend.
I am going to be carrying on as I work with vulnerable young people with special needs at a college.
It's a daunting prospect, would rather be social distancing with my family, but we have to do what we have to do! |

I am about to leave a job where I can essentially home work from now on to go to a new one where I'll be back out hopefully helping people through this.
My fear currently is that I end up unable to do that and then unable to keep a roof over our heads |

My work is still open. I have opted to work from home 4 days a week and do all necessary jobs that need me on site on the 5th day until they tell us not to return. Not everyone in my work have this option though.
My work have been great to be fair. Keeping us up to date with their plans, doubling the cleaning, especially commonly touched areas and putting sanitiser in all entrances (which havent been stolen by idiots btw) |

I K will be working. I work in care with adults with LD. I'm in a respite service but our plan is unclear.
We could stay open to take the load of parents who are over 70 and self isolating. We could be looking after people who's parents get the virus. We could be a unit for step down for those in hospital whose beds are needed. We could be shut and used in other ways (we work for local authority so could be community care, etc).
C is discussing the option of working from home. |

Been informed by our management team that we're going to be working through it as the government has told us we are an essential service.
I'm an advanced telecommunications engineer and we have the responsibility of trying to keep all the telecom networks working.
Priorities are hospitals, health screening laboratories, fire, police and ambulance services, followed electricity gas and water companies. And the airport's.
Of the engineering staff in Manchester around 50 are in self isolation caught from home visits to repair faults in their services.
I'm one of the 8 advanced engineers in Manchester who is looking after the fibre network, every team of engineers has at least one guy/girl off with suspected virus. |

I'm a lorry driver in the food supply chain. Being hammered with overtime right now. I'd love nothing more than to hibernate in my little flat for 2 months. I just don't want 15 hour nightshift after 15 hour nightshift, all because of the fucking panic buyers messing it all up. |

We're continuing to work in education, but remotely as of tomorrow. We aren't set up for distance learning, so it's starting at square one and seeing what we can pull together with staff scattered hither and thither. |

Working through until government tells us we can’t travel to work
The empty buildings and offices need looking after as if the essential maintenance is not done they will become another health hazard when people do start to return
When and if that does happen will look at how can help out as an engineer |

I'm self-employed and I've been waiting to see how the new IR35 legislation affects the contractor market before I look for my next job. With Coronavirus thrown into the mix I'd imagine it'll be at least June before I'm back in employment. Was hoping to spend the next 2 months getting fit but that may well get scuppered if I'm locked indoors for a large period of time!
Luckily I'm single and I've got cash in the bank to see me through but I feel for those who are gonna struggle financially until the crisis is over. |
