The problem we have, is that a decade of austerity means there are limited police resources. A significant number are quarantining meaning even less are available. So if/when the government put us on lockdown he police are going to need help enforcing it. Simple as that |

Tech companies in the US are in discussion with the federal govt about using mobile phone data to monitor and control peoples movements. China used mobile technology to restrict peoples movements. In a city with a high population density like london, don't be surprised if mobile technology is used to stop people moving out of their area. |

I did say yesterday on my what should you have in your freezers and cupboard thread that the military had been prepped and ready to enforce isolation if they need to. I only knew it cos I was speaking to my best friend yesterday who’s husband is serving military.
Would I personally mind if there were loads of soldiers outside patrolling the streets, hmm I’d probably call a few handsome ones inside for a good cup of tea! |

Just switch your device to 2G , many people do this already, 2G antenna can’t track and is hard to intercept and there’s still good global coverage |

If the virus keeps doubling the infection rate yes I think there will be a lock down just for all non important jobs and travel . I guess that’s why people are stock piling food. |

Been calling the shutting of schools all week on Friday and was correct.
What I believe is coming next is a shut down of everything but essential transport and people allowed to go to work.
Limit on who shops and restrictions on what we can buy.All shops but supermarkets and pharmacies closed.
Then if the morons don't behave as you would like them to then I can see a total shut down enforced.
Would think starting to happen Monday.
Hope Im wrong but as the panic buying has proved the vast majority will need protecting from themselves |

Remember people fighting over plasma TV's during black Friday? We really shouldn't be surprised by this behaviour. |

And this is the problem that the authorities will face.
I suspect that they will issue huge penalties to the first few that step out of line to bring the rest of the idiots in line. |

Well if people keep behaving the way they are doing like ignoring the advice as some are in London I suspect measures will have to be implemented as the PM has now indicated.. Show some common sense and stop being so selfish then maybe we will all get there in the end. We are all in this together. |

"A curfew yes, I fully expect it and unfortunately it'll be needed because people won't just stay home "
Wont need it and it would be costly and use manpower to enforce that could be used elsewhere.
Just punish a the first couple of idiots that step out of line and make the consequence huge and show it on every news channel.

Probably, but nothing heavy, more police and army presence. Minor moments of looting may occur but that will be stamped out quickly.
Elderly, farmers and villages are most vulnerable and shouldn't be forgotten about.

The UK is about a week behind Ireland and last week We were overwhelmed with fake WhatsApp messages saying the army was on standby
Every message was the same stating that a good friend heard from his brother in the army and so on
All fake |

We have no reason to believe Marshall law will happen.
It will be a similar situation to the rest of Europe.
Uncomfortable and worrying but we will get though this, we just need to stay calm and follow any new rules/laws. |

The government have this morning on the BBC news categorically denied that a Macron style police boots on the streets style lock down is being discussed, so yes it's coming soon
Seriously, we will have a recommendation to self impose a lock down but if people continue to ignore it we will see the police and army on the streets |

I was talking to daughter about the army helping out the NHS like they have in the past. We have now been advised that 20,000 have been allocated to help the NHS and police. |

People in Britain will not wear it. It all has to be done by coercion. Any use of force would certainly lead to many taking to the streets, me included.... Many may not agree but our liberty is worth defending.... Hopefully it will be here long after the virus has gone. Once lost difficult to recover... |

As far back as 3rd March, military options were published, so I wouldn’t call any of it panic; just being prepared.
From the document freely available on the Covid 19 section on .gov
4.39 The ministry of Defence has put in place plans to ensure the delivery of its key operations in the UK and overseas. There are also well practised arrangements for Defence to provide support to Civil Authorities if requested |
