Seems as if the schools are closed but not closed.
If you're a 'key worker' your kids will still be going. Quite right but I'm interested to see that defined. Nurses, police and fireman go without saying but checkout operators, bakers, pharmacy workers?
Feel really sorry for the kids who've so hard over the last two years.
They could off now until September |

My son is in tears. Year 11, he's worked so hard. We're trying to reassure him that it might actually benefit him if they lower grade boundaries....assuming they sit the exams at some point that is. |

Our daughter is pleased because she was dreading her a level exams but her predicted results give her passes in all of them. Our 10 year old son has gone from celebrating to despair and cry’s of “it’s not fair “ because he can still go to school because I am a key worker. |

That’s what I’m trying to find out. It’s really unclear. |

On the other hand it's an opportunity to do more revision and double down on getting in his head, hope everything works ok for him |

They're cancelling A level and GCSE exams, but what about BTECs where students need specific equipment in the colleges? My son has limited production equipment at home to do his stuff, but he can only record music in a very basic way and can't demonstrate all the skills. How will he and students of hairdressing, catering etc carry on? He's months away from finishing and has uni offers to take up, if unis exist in a few months. |

I would say so, I know that my mental health will be bad when I have 2 autistic kids at home all day everyday and being a single parent |

The way understood it is this...
Schools are closed except to any child that has a key worker, ie if social services are involved in the family unit for anything then those children go to school, it's designed to keep safeguards in place for children at risk so they still get professional daily monitoring on their behaviour health/mental health hygiene etc, the government are trying to keep the support in place for those that need it the most. |

And also children whose parents ARE key workers - I.e. frontline emergency services and NHS staff etc - those needed at work to help fight the spread of the virus. My query is I work in inpatient mental health services, so will I be considered a key worker or not? |

Maybe that's how the Gov will get the information out to people by informing certain departments etc of how to manage their staff. |

No he said if they have a social worker or an EHCP. An EHCP is nothing to do with being at risk. Hearing someone else speak on the news earlier he seemed to think it’s SEN children or those who attend a special school. |

Bloody brilliant. We thought that as I was a nurse our youngest could still go to school but it now transpires that BOTH parents must be key workers. They are expecting hubby to either take a lot of time off unpaid or give up work. So much for looking after the nhs workers! |

They’re asking both parents occupation at the school and from reports in the press it says both parents. Hopefully the school will view favourably but I’m not holding my breath. Nice of Tesco to announce tonight that nhs staff can shop for the first hour on Sunday, guess who’s at work on Sunday though! Sod’s law, |
