Hopefully no one would meet if they thought they had any kind of risk associated with them, signs ie. temp, being in contact with anyone who had the illness.
I trust anyone that I am to meet to be as responsible as I would be |

Flu season and STDs being a thing doesn't stop people so I don't know why a virus would.
Treat it like any other risk and just take precautions.
Don't really want to brag here but I was washing my hands regularly before Corona virus was even a thing
(Although, the amount of people we see at clubs not washing their hands after peeing is alarming and disgusting) |

Virus takes from 2-14 days to incubate without showing any symptoms. Why take that risk and possibly affect others with underlining health issues. It is highly contagious, whether people want to believe it or not. My friend's grandad got it now. Also my friends son's primary school got 6 cases. A student in my city died from it... And we just going to accept its just one of those winter bugs and carry on like normal? Look how Italy dealt with it, burying their heads in the sand about it and now look where they are. |

We are all probably going to catch it at some point so might as well continue as usual if healthy but stay away from high risk people. |

The poor Italians and the rest of us are the result of this virus! Am I alone in thinking, the Chinese are hell bent on domination of the entire world! They’ve no regard to human life, I’m feeling this virus was deliberately introduced to the world’s population? Yes, they’ve probably slaughtered thousands of there own citizens, but that’s nothing to them, they’re over populated in there country. This is just my thoughts. |

It’s a fact. Worldwide, over 150,000 people die each and every day, nothing to do with covid-19. Over two thirds of these deaths are age related deaths. So over 100,000 elderly people die every day . |

Right... so, what’s a few thousand more?
When there’s thousands of people sick and needing intensive care, I wonder if you’ll be as nonchalant when they tell you that you need a ventilator but you can’t have one because you’re 54 and there’s a 29 year old that needs it... |

In the UK, every year tens of thousands of people die of seasonal flu. A few years ago it was 23,000. Mostly elderly.
23,000

Why don’t you go and read some of the advice from world experts in this field, who have said -repeatedly- that this isn’t the same as the flu.
I think some people are just wilfully ignorant.
It won’t be til your lungs are filling up and you’re dying, and there’s no NHS care availble for you because it is overrun, that the reality of the situation sinks in.
I wouldn’t be so cocky at your age. You’re not far off “elderly” in the eyes of medicine. |

I was very similar. Light cough on Thursday. Decided to self isolate Friday. Cancelled dentist apointment for Friday. I have felt a bit achey yesterday with light cough. Hotter than I should be but not awful, still a bit achey this morning but not as bad.
So I am just staying in bed as much as possible |

I read somewhere this morning that BoJo was going to ask manufactures to make more ventilators with speed. So I assume that hasn't yet been done or it only very recently has which means there is 100% definitely going to be a ventilator shortage in the very near future
Also it's so easy to quote that it's just the old and those with underlying health issues that will be the first to go, there has been a lot of young healthy people dying from this too, no one is guaranteed to come out of this alive, all you need is to be a bit under the weather for it to hit you harder. People are being far to nonchalant about this thing |

What matters here is that we all are socially responsible and follow the guidelines.

Exactly, I have a friend who’s been asked to collect two months of her medication for cancer so she’s not exposed to being in a hospital waiting room more than necessary.
The hospitals are struggling in the cold weather anyway, they never have much capacity without the added pressure from this virus. |

No one said it didn’t affect the over 70s. I’m not allowed to visit my grandmother at the moment and I find that really difficult. She’s already feeling lonely, but we are trying to keep her safe.

Well you seemed to be saying you didn’t think it was a big deal that more elderly people will die?
What WERE you saying?
If you’re simply stating a fact, that the elderly are more likely to die, then sure I agree with you. But the whole point of the thread is whether we should change our behaviours because we CARE that people may die as a knock on effect.
Personally I’m happy to do without exchanging bodily fluids for a bit if it protects people, even if those people are elderly. |

So far 21 people in the Uk have died of corona virus all but one or 2 have had their ages released. 80% were in their 70’s 80’s and 90’s, all with pre existing conditions. I think 1 person was in their 60’s. The worldwide statistics are broadly similar. |

There are going to tough times ahead for all businesses and it will affect everyone. To reduce the effect on the economy we need to take appropriate action now. The organisation I work for is asking us all to work from home and do all meetings virtually. Other organisations do not have this luxury - factories and distribution centres for example.
Running a business that relies on personal contact (like pubs, restaurants, and swinging clubs) is a tough gig anyway, but if they do not take action now, they will make the problem worse, not better.
Jaydees did the right thing last night, particularly as Jaydee himself is a “mature” (and very fine) gentleman. We were very concerned that other clubs did not take his lead, and relied on arguments such as “we are very clean” and “we are following local and governmental advice”. These are irrelevant when the virus is airborn and many people are in close proximity. If only one person is Covid-19 positive, then potentially 50-100 people will act as carriers to diverse communities.
For us, we will not be attending any large gatherings of people (like clubs or parties) but we will continue to meet privately if none of the people involved are showing any symptoms and have not attended a club recently. This isn’t risk free but it reduces the risk.

I was talking with my mam last night, never in her 52 years has something worried her like this.
If you think they would close whole countries down, risking a world recession, and keep people in their homes without this being extremely serious, you are in cuckoo land.
Anyone stop to think they might not be sharing the full figures to control mass panic?
There is absolutely a reason they are going to the extremes they are, and it is not looking good.
I have already cancelled all social plans for the next 3 months because I will listen to experts, not risk my health or my loved ones through my own ignorance. |

This may be true in countries like Iran or China but in the UK so many people are involved in the collation of the data, inevitably there would be a “whistle-blower”. The main issue is under-estimation owing to the time-lag from testing to reporting, the incubation period when individuals are infectious, and cases not being detected through non-testing of low-grade or less high-risk individuals. They try to adjust for these in the estimates, but there will inevitably be wider confidence intervals. The true infection rate is almost certainly much higher than being reported but not for the reasons you suggest, at least in the UK.
Everyone should make their own decisions about the actions they take in the next few weeks/months and yours is perfectly sensible.

I can see where you’re coming from. I work on the till in a fast paced retail environment - in close proximity to many customers daily and handling bacteria laden money regularly. If I catch this virus it’s far more likely to be at work.
I’ll be contacting the head office where I work to suggest measures to reduce cross contamination between colleagues - and to suggest that employees with respiratory issues or immune deficiencies shouldn’t be on the tills. Whether they’ll adopt these procedures I’ve no idea!
I think there’s got to be a balance between protecting the economy and protecting life - and it’s incredibly difficult to know where that balance is!
The reason there’s so much contention around this topic as it develops is that there’s really no black and white - people will lose - both lives and livelihoods - that’s already obvious! |

We love sex here in this fab group.
We can continue having fun using technology. I know it’s not the same but I think it is the best for everybody
Maybe we can create a Kik group or a WhatsApp

"I decided to take a break from meeting a few weeks ago but now, with the current situation, I definitely won't be meeting for the foreseeable. I'm in the "at risk group" so better to be sensible to abstain from any unnecessary contact, not even socials. We all need to be sensible and protect ourselves and loved ones as much as possible? "
My job involves meeting people often, I dont get the chance to say im not meeting you.
Neither am I being payed to sit on my backside at home.
For the seeable future I have to take some precautions and just be careful and sensible. |

"For some yes, others no.
I saw Jaydees have decided not to open because of the virus.
All should do the same
Really? And go bankrupt?
Suppose all public spaces should do the same - and also go bankrupt?
What we really need right now is another major recession!

Absolutely - it’s about balancing the risks to health/life and the rest of our existence. This risk assessment will be different for all of us and may change with circumstances. Calm heads needed.

Peachy it’s difficult - I want to go out for a walk as being 3 days locked up in my room has driven me nuts
Have 4 days to go if the symptoms ease. I don’t know how work is going to work.
I can work from home but I have just taken a new role that was expecting me to work in Birmingham this week - that’s not going to happen, one as I am self isolating and two as work have put in place a non travel to work rule.
As now I am self isolating or am I sick or just working from home - I don’t know and haven’t got a clue. I think organisations are treating this on a day by day basis. |

OK I'm going to go with you here, just maybe the Chinese are hell bent on world domination...... so they develop a virus to decimate foreign populations.... Then they release it into their own population....
Makes no sense. |

While I agree that it's not overly logical, at the same time look at the human rights that China walk the line with. Look at the protests in Hong Kong. Its not out of the realms of possibility that certain governments would at the very least consider doing such a thing to push their own agenda forward. |

The Virus comes from the Chinese wet markets where you have all these different animals species mixing that wouldn't normally be mixing do close together. So any virus that wouldn't normally be able to transmit to humans, in wet markets its able transmits into an animal that can cause it to jump to human.
SARS and Covid was found in originally bats which transmitted it to other animals and eventually to chickens
So no it's not intentional, but they do need to address how they store live animals for food in these wet markets. |

I'm all for conspiracy theories, I don't believe we landed on the moon, and I'm not convinced the Titanic actually sank, but this is so far fetched it astounds me. |

Well the government has now closed all schools, our sympathies go out to all those parents who rely on there jobs to survive! The government say they’ll support everyone, but we all know it’ll only be the top 1% of our population. Hopefully they’ll do what they say, but I’m not an optimist.
Help for key workers? I’m a delivery driver to supermarkets and now the fifth emergency service. By the time this virus is over we’ll need medals. Lol |

There you go now..."
Some people still don't take it seriously now...
Remember folks:
Anyone can die from this. Young/old, health conditions or not... stay safe in the present so you can plan for the future. |
