We might change our plans but that's no big deal as we'll be spending the summer in a campervan, so we'll just head away from the crowds (and hopefully towards the sun). |

Some fella tested positive the other day afer a trip to Italy. Why was he allowed to go to an infected area. And why did he choose to go the fuckin idiot. I'd build a big Trebuchet and fire the dickhead into the Sun. |

We are booked to go to Spain in early June, that's when it's predicted that the virus will peak.
We have every intention of travelling unless the official advice is not to go. |

"I’m going to Capri. Then Ibiza for the closing parties.
Possible Abu Dhabia as well.
As long as I can travel and there is no significant risk I will do so. "
That's the same for us but we were told by our travel insurance company that if the government advise is not to travel to certain place then our policy will be void. |

According to our local Welsh assembly member, the Welsh assembly are talking today about the possibility of closing holiday parks and camping sites etc to stop an influx of people that might overwhelm the limited resources we have in some of the more rural areas. No idea what they will decide but it will need running past BoJo and his team. The local health boards and local government have all shown their support so it may well happen. |

"I'll cancel only if Virgin don't fly, which will only happen if the FCO changes the advice. Fingers crossed that won't happen "
you fly with Virgin, the company that forced majority of employee's to take 8 weeks unpaid leave, whilst Branson sits back and counts his cash
will never fly with virgin again ever. |

There's been a few reports of the highlands not wanting tourists at the moment either. Still have some of the usual influx in some places I hear. I can see why though. People have seen 28 days later. |

"Will you skip this years holiday due to coronavirus or maybe you have already cancelled?
Nobody will be travelling anywhere this yr unfortunately "
Holiday areas in the UK are filling up with second home owners etc. Where I live, it’s rammed with these people.
Health professionals are seriously worried about the strain this will place on local services. It’s a real worry.
I work encouraging people to visit and have a great time when they are here. I seriously hope they’ll realise the impact they are having and stay away though. |

Yeah, I saw your post. It’s a real worry.
I understand the desire, but it’s beyond selfish at this time due to spread and strain on resources.

Missing Holidays is upsetting but not compared to losing loved ones.
People just have to think outside of their own lives and start to think about the greater good.
No excuse anymore for putting your
holiday or social life before peoples lives. |

"There's not going to be such a thing as tourist travel to foreign countries...
You and I can have a picnic by the banks of the Manchester ship canal, Polly."
The ship canal can be quite beautiful in the spring. The skylarks coughing. The strange blue/purple/glowing flowers growing amidst the piles of leaking chemical drums. The occasional giant rat out for a swim...
Actually the ship canal and the mersey have been a fantastic success story for recovering from pollution. There are now numerous parks and nature reserve areas by the waterside, some fascinating industrial archeology, even cruise boats from Manchester to Liverpool (though guess they are suspended at the moment). Yes, a picnic next spring sounds lovely. |

Very few planes taking off at Heathrow now and BA could be moving the fleet to Bournemouth to reduce costs of berthing planes at an airport.
Ba maintaining Africa, India and US flights for time being but 75% reduction in traffic.
Virgin are telling staff to take 47% paycut and full pay will not return until airline hits 75% output
Think the last air new Zealand leaves Heathrow today as they cancel as well.
Sadly loads of people are ignoring advice and are on the beaches which you can see on live cams on YouTube (Dorset).

"I still don't understand why covid checks have been removed (for fully vaccinated travellers). To me it makes no sense (unless the testing is so unreliable as to be invalid)."
Do you have a PCR test when you travel to another city?
It's pointless. People can catch it anywhere. Penalising people going abroad is ridiculous. |

Do you think that avoiding public health regulations will make the government more competent or trustworthy?
I live by the notion that I treat people as I want to be treated. I try not to spread disease, because I hope to be treated the same way. |

To be honest I think its quite obvious because very until of come from other countries and we have also spread here elsewhere. People can't have it both ways they can't say travellers shouldn't be penalised when the government of trying to make it more normal and allow travel to open up. Plus it isnt up to our government if countrys put In restrictions, if other countrys need you to have a vaccine passport or a negative PCR test that has nothing to do with our government. |

When travelling to another city in this country people don't generally fly.
Airplane recirculation systems are amazing at spreading germs around an enclosed space. I just thought it was more sensible that measures were in place to lessen the chance of somebody bringing covid on board. |

I used to spend my time looking at the ways people can break or bend systems (you can probably tell from some of my posts)
The current system is easy to abuse anyway. To me it makes no sense having a lateral flow test as the requirement to get on the flight to return to the UK as they are so unreliable. |

True i have just returned, the test i had was not done correctly and the result and cert turned up after about 5 minutes i believe they dont want the inconvenience of finding people positive and effect it will have on their travel industry.I did a pcr test when i returned which was negative but was then contacted by test and trace (i guess someone on the plane had covid) so have now had to take a government one. |

I don't need a test to fly to Spain therefore I could have contracted Covid just before flying. Whilst in Spain i develop minor symptoms but not enough to make me ill and stop me enjoying my holiday. 48hrs before returning I take a Lateral flow test which will almost certainly come back negative because lateral flow tests are bad at picking up covid once you have symptoms. I am therefore allow on the plane and will only get notified I have covid when I take PCR test in the UK.
Therefore totally pointless taking lateral flow test whilst in Spain. |
