I am speechless.

Why on Earth would you seek advice on a medical issue on a recreational sex site?

Speak to your health care professionals!

Because it takes ages to get an appointment and some of women here are on this very same medication. Peer reviews are availible here, not at the GP's surgery.

Added to the fact that the menopause heavily affects sex drive and sleep. This is a really good source of extra anedotal information.

Try this thought experiment: Imagine that this site was called FAB SINGERS, would you question the OP on asking about sore throat remedies, sore throats or even vocal cord strain?

(A clever person has all of the answers: a wise person has all of the questions) knowledge is increased by asking more people than expected, then extrapolating the answer afterwards.

For example did you know that driving French vehicles and some Japanese ones too, can cause flat feet injuries? None of the medical documents talk about this, but plenty of owner forums do.

Yes, I am talking from experience,

I am not on Evorel sequi, just Evorel. But had a look online, and it says sequi is used for women who "still have a womb and want a monthly bleed". Though I do agree that having the bleeding (or spotting) more than once a month could be a worry. It also could be your body adjusting to the HRT or your symptoms progressing/changing. Might be worth speaking to your GP or a nurse, maybe getting smear test if you haven't had one for a while?

I have the opposite problem - no bleeding for a few months, thinking Aunt Flo is not going to turn up again, but then when she does turn up, she way overstays her welcome!

Your analogies and hypothesis are utterly ridiculous.

Are recreational sex site is not the place to seek advice on the effects and effectiveness of medications as those giving such pearls of wisdom don’t have a full medical history in front of them.

To compare human hormonal therapy to driving a French designed car proves a point.

Make the appointment and wait the two weeks or so and get advice from a health care professional.

You need to tell the surgery that you are having periodic blood loss and it is urgent. I cannot vouch for your GP surgery but you have a right to speak with a health care professional within the new guidelines. Trying to see or speak with your health care provider for six weeks is outside those guidelines. Complain to the local area authority. You are being treated disgracefully.

It is common to have bleeding issues in the first few months especially if you are still in Peri as you'll still have your own ovarian activity going on which in Peri is unstable

Spotting/unscheduled bleeding can indicate a thickened womb lining, again common in Peri and/or because of starting HRT

You may need to change your type of HRT, such as having a different type. There's Utrogestan soft capsules which can be taken vaginally instead of by mouth and you can adjust the dosage then you'd have oestrogen only patches

An ultrasound scan would be beneficial because you may have a polyp/fibroid growing or be developing Adenomyosis which is womb cells migrating into the muscular wall of the womb

Xx

"I am speechless.

Why on Earth would you seek advice on a medical issue on a recreational sex site?

A) it is not a sex site, it is a swingers site

B) it's supposed to be a site for open-minded people

C) the way I read it, OP is not seeking medical advice but wants to compare experiences. As there are plenty of ladies on here, they decided to ask for other women's experience with HRT on the public forum here. Where else should they have gone for that? Mumsnet? Facebook? Yes, GP/medical professional should be one of the first people to contact with medical issues, but it's not so easy to get appointments regardless of any guidelines you mention say. Also, GP or other medical professionals are not going to give you peer review for any medication or treatment.

So please, you've said your peace, and unless you have some experience of HRT you'd like to share, please refrain from other unhelpful comments. It is a public forum though.

Which I have been told to get off! Perhaps I should refrain from giving an opinion on other issues?

Yes, I have experience with HRT. Asking for advice from non professional health care professional can be fraught with negative issues as is evidenced above.

The list of potential problems listed above made without knowledge of the OPsmedical history will cause more anxiety than good.

My experience with HRT is that administration needs to be carefully considered and discussed in detail with the prescriber. To suggest that HRT is the domain of women is just ridiculous.

As I said the OP needs to demand an appointment with her GP. Waiting 6 weeks is outside the 2024 guidelines issued by the RCGP.

We have differing opinions of what swinging and recreational sex is. Perhaps I’ll start a thread on that!

The typical GP appointment is 5-15 minutes, private and newly started conversations can and do provide insights. More time is needed for these in depth consultations.

Hospital waiting lists are measured in months and years, not days, depending on your postcode lottery.

Having the confidence to ask a GP to provide a specific medicine, because you've done your homework, can speed things up, especially with long term conditions.

I've had a gut health chat just recently with my GP. Despite the hospital specialist not giving me any feedback (pun intended). She was quite impressed with my product/dietary/the charity's own dedicated advice and we chose the the path to take next.

This sort of openness and informed approach can and does speed up the try-this-and-come-back-in-1/2/3/4/5/6-months. Patience is not a virtue, it's torture when you are ill.

As for my analogies, I am not comparing cars with ovaries: I am saying that the car owning forums identified the cause of my discomfort, when the medical books couldn't.

Being pregnant, overweight and wearing high heels were the stock answers and not to blame in my case.

Medical info: 0

Forumites: 1

It doesn't matter where the correct answer comes from, so long as the answer is correct and effective.

I had evoril conti patches. It took me 6 months for the GP to give me them as I'm only 36. I was told that you can have random breakthrough bleeding on all forms of HRT.

The patches didn't work for me so I was moved to a double dose gel and tablet and no issues since

I had a similar issue with evorel conti and frequent break through bleeding. Oestrogen Gel and progesterone tablets similarly caused breakthrough bleeding. I ended up settling for the gel with progesterone added in for just two weeks a month. It means I have a proper bleed every month but would rather this than random breakthrough bleeding which often amounted to more than 7 days a month.

Definitely go speak to your gp.

Hello!

I just started the estrogen gel and the progesterone tablet to try to gain some balance in life. I have had a period one month but not every month since taking I hope they will go completely at some stage. I was out the other side of menopause as didn’t have periods for a year but had a stressful time last summer and the consequences were really heavy periods and really frequent.

My doc has recommended this type of HRT to help arrest my osteoporosis in my hips. Certainly I am much calmer and happier but could do without the crazy hard nipples that seem to last for days….

To all the women struggling just keep on keeping on girls! We are so amazing even on our worst days xx

Thanks for the support! The peri menopause can start from mid to late 30’s for some and go way on into our late 60’s. It’s so crazy what we go through if teens think puberty is a bitch well enjoy your 20’s / 30’s cos the party of womanhood comes back with avengeance At age 42 I became literally nymphomanic like my body seemed desperate to procreate before it was too late. So for at least 10 years I have been insatiable for cock and cum. To the delights of many Fabbers lol. Such a good community as many of the lads have been actually supportive of my bad times as much as the fun times!

I was on the evorel conti 50 patches for about a year before I started having breakthrough bleeds. I was sent for numerous tests including a hysteroscopy as I'd been four years without a period. All the tests came back clear so it was put down to the hrt. I am now on the evorel 75 patch along with the estrogen cream and progesterone tablets and have been for about six months. I literally started spotting again at the weekend!!

Glad you got a result.

I'm on the Evorel conti patches, the GP told me I might experience spotting, which I am, but suggested it should sort itself out after a while. I'm only on my second prescription, so will hold out a bit longer to see if the spotting resolves of its own accord. If not, I'll go back and see what else they can offer.

Thank-you for everyone's advise I have spoken to go who has recommended changing to everol patch and a tablet so fingers crossed this work we had a new senior nurse practitioner start at surgery and she seems to know what she's doing better than the doctors

Glad you got a result.

I'm on the Evorel conti patches, the GP told me I might experience spotting, which I am, but suggested it should sort itself out after a while. HRT for men is even rarer as the NHS doesn't have a lot to say on it. The staffing for the andropause and the related symptoms is abysmal. One consultant for my NHS trust.

I'm sorry to hear that our doctor was the same it's only the last month or so that we had a senior nurse practitioner start and she's seems to know a lot more

I’m on Evoril Conti but was on Sequi for a year.

Any unusual bleeding should be investigated and not put down to menopause all the time.
