The latest Covid strain is descended from the previously dominant JN.1 variant, itself an offshoot of Omicron
No need to wet yourself or come across all antivax,it's unlikely you'll be eligible and it's predicted to be mild anyway |

Apart from the incredibly vulnerable, this makes zero difference to the rest of us and I very much doubt that the incredibly vulnerable would be frequenting a site like this…. |

"Pretty much a cold then "
No. COVID has demonstrated that it's very different to the common cold, including with the widespread Long COVID, affecting people severely for many months and for over a year. It's also potentially a fatal illness, which you'll not find the same with a cold.

Puts hand up. Vulnerable enough that I bloody well don't want to catch it. One infection was enough to trigger an auto-immune disease (and yes, it was the virus, not the vaccine), fuck knows what another dose of even a supposedly mild strain would do to me. |

Doesn't everyone go into the camping section and tell them that camping is only for poor people and masochists, hotels exist? |

You will actually find both things can and do happen with influenza or the "cold" |

Thankfully, it's known that Covid imposes substantially greater impacts on us than the common cold, as stated. |

It is, well spotted. You failed to see your own failure of logic though in attacking others with an absurd slur.

This is about not spreading at all it to the vulnerable. |

"Anybody who didnt want a vaccination against covid by the sounds of it "
Unless you're over 75 it's a moot point
COVID is still out there and if you don't want to read about it then it's probably better not to open posts about it ? |

I’m just getting over it, and it made me so ill.
Constant coughing, either sweating buckets or shaking with cold, headache, sore throat, lost voice due to all the coughing, still can’t smell anything.
Mild it is not and so much worse than the original strain. |

No, you said "it very different" then gave examples of how it can cause long covid and death and then you said" which you will not find the same with a cold" that is misleading and totally incorrect... |

The forums aren't really the place for English lessons, but the second-person pronoun you is used for both the singular and the plural. In the above case it's being used in the plural ie everyone in general.
Hope this helps |

That's random.
As stated in the op this is simply discussing a variant, no need to get all hot and bothered about a vaccine that you most likely won't be eligible for.
You this time is used in it's singular form and referring directly to the poster quoted. |

So your posts aren't a slur against those that did choose to take the vaccine ?
Maybe time to get over it, as thread starts off it's about a new variant of covid and nothing to do with vaccines

Very true, and people have been taking a vaccine to help prevent the worst symptoms of influenza for a long time.
They've been working on something for the common cold but it's not high enough priority to gain sufficient funding for the necessary development and trials. |

And that's why it's good to discuss it and hopefully find reassurance if the new variant turns out to be a mild one as first cases have shown to be. |

Your seeing something that doesn't exist. Nothing offensive except perhaps your post but hey...
You're right, stop perpetrating that hate and discuss the actual subject.

FYI
antivax is an adjective in the dictionary, it's been around since the 1890s and using it refers to people that dont believe in vaccination.
First recorded in 1810–15 as Anti-Vacks (in the sense “persons opposed to vaccination”), in a letter by Edward Jenner)
It's use in the op isn't an insult, it's using a common phrase to get across a point that the vaccine won't be given to anyone not considered vulnerable and the new variant won't change that.
Anyone taking offence at that probably needs to take a break from reading about viruses. |
