I can't answer your question I'm afraid as I don't know.
However I saw a poster in the GUM clinic a couple of months ago that said you are more likely to develop throat cancer from unprotected oral sex than from smoking

Somehow I find that difficult to believe..We take risks and if this information is true, I doubt if it would encourage people to use condoms for oral sex...It has become a big no no for a long long time.Do you know anyone who uses dental dams? Many sexually active people don't even know what they are!

HPV infection in the back of the throat passed by oral sex can develop as cancer not just oral sex itself. |

"Is there not an HPV vaccine now?
Yes there is for sure . Completed my course last year "
Adult women are not offered it for free it's £182 per dose... Bi males are offered it in some cases via GUM clinics... |

"It's time us males were involved on the vaccination too."
Boys are vaccinated as well as girls at school... As an adult male you can pay £182 per dose, alongside women over 25. Unless you want to present at a GUM or HIV clinic, and state you're bi or gay, and you can get it for free |

"Is there not an HPV vaccine now?"
Yes. It can protect against many HPV types but not all. It's also targeted, including by age. I think the OP is outside of the target groups. Many of the rest of us will have been exposed to HPV, potentially multiple times.
The future looks so much better for those generations protected from its awful consequences |

You can get HPV by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the virus. It is most commonly spread during vaginal or anal sex. It also spreads through close skin-to-skin touching during sex. A person with HPV can pass the infection to someone even when they have no signs or symptoms.

Someone put a post of the support page, about her battle with throat cancer. She admitted it was from oral sex with people, the treatment was quite brutal from what I remember when reading it. |

Data from America indicates that 90%. of male and 80% of female swingers will be infected by HPV in their lifetime.
Although there are certain types that lead to cancer most of the time the body will clear up the infection and not lead to cancer.
The most common HPV cancers are cervical for women and oral (mouth and pharynx) for men.
I would imagine that the data is similar for the UK. |

Its not really swingers that become infected but any of the population who have been intimate, any bodily contact.
About 75-80% will carry the virus but not even know or have any symptoms.
I developed cancer in tonsil and lymph glands via HPV.
If you are going to get a throat cancer, best HPV driven, not smoking.
Still getting over surgery, chemo and radiotherapy, its brutal but back to work soon, in NHS, in cancer treatment.
Why did I develop cancer and others don't.
No idea, luck of the draw, nobody really knows but hopefully, with the vaccine being taken up by children, it will be a thing of the past in years to come.
