Really common.
The incidence of shigellosis is reported to be one hundred eighty-eight million cases per year with approximately 1 million deaths annually. In developed countries, the incidence is around 1.5 million cases per year.
Probably not worth starting anything sensationalist....

An archipelago that is independent and nothing to do with the canaries or Spain
It’s a lovely place with fantastic beaches but some very poor areas without running water so has potential for disease to spread |

"What has caused this surge in cases and why cape Verde?"
There is roughly the same number of cases as there was recorded in 2018/19 Think it's quite obvious why cases went down in 2020/21. |
