Foods that Taste bad after Covid.....
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi all. I lost my taste and smell some months ago when I caught the Virus. Got most of it back after about 6 weeks.
However now when I eat Bell peppers now, they taste like pure Fairy liqid..... Strawberry Yogurt also tastes soapy, and some fruit juices taste like sewage water....
Anyone else experiencing similar symptoms? |

I currently have covid and have noticed that my sense of taste in savoury has slightly gone, but my sense of taste in sweet is heightened. Its very strange. Smell hasn't been affected so far. Seems to vary for everyone. |

I've struggled to eat anything with r*peseed or sunflower oil and corn or any kind of maize flour for over 6 months now because they taste/smell like ammonia. Even today, r*peseed oil is by far the worst of those for me personally, but your scent and taste of things that are now 'off' does improve with exposure to them.
I find if you actually take time to smell the foods you're having trouble with before eating them it helps to kind of reprogramme the neural pathways that tell your what brain something smells like, they get all messed up when you get Parosmia so it's just a cast of retraining the brain. Takes time though, no quick fixes unfortunately and there's a chance it'll never fully be the same again, but rest assured it can and likely will get better!
If you decide to give the smelling a try just make sure you really inhale and try to think about what that *should* smell like.
Good luck in your recovery! |

Some brands of coffee taste funny to me now like the milk is off.
I also can't eat barbecue sauce anymore as it tastes really sour and bitter. Coffee does seem to be a fairly common one. |

For the first time in my life sugar, salt and seasoning taste funny. Not sure if it's post covid or the fact my Dutch partner now does the cooking and hasn't discovered the cupboard dedicated purely for seasoning! |

Meat(in particular chicken) and eggs smelt and tasted like actual shite for a number on months. The meat went back to normal, but even now (18 months later) eggs can be hit or miss.
A woman I work with says to her, everything tastes of saltx |

I’m Ok with most sweet stuff except orange Fanta which leaves me feeling like something has crawled into my mouth and died. Savoury food is pretty hit and miss with gravy still being a sticking point as it tastes like soap |

"Everything is largely tasteless now.
But occasionally something will taste off. Like mayo, when it isn't off "

I've gone off coffee since. It just tastes sour. That's the only thing for me and I never thought of it being covid related till now. |

The only food I can taste are Tomatoes for some reason
Everything else just feels like a texture in my mouth.
I can't drink Coffee yet normally I'm a Coffeeholic!
Water tastes vile but I can drink squash even though it doesn't taste of anything
Hope it doesn't last forever, miss my food, but at least it's good for my diet! |
