I’m still not right after 6 months, however it’s not a loss of taste and smell, it’s a heightening.
Taste-wise, salt is super salty, sugar is super sweet.
My sense of smell is through the roof, I can smell things at a distance and far more in depth than before, to a point where it’s a bad thing.
Raw meat smells foul, cooking meat, particularly chicken smells terrible. Perfumes I once liked on my wife are no longer pleasant as they are too strong.
And farts…. My god, they are something else now |

I was permanently starving for about a week when I had it back in November. Put on about a stone ! I now randomly get a whiff of burnt toast a couple of times a week when there’s not a toaster anywhere near ! |

Before this plague came along, I had nasal surgery. My sense of smell was none existent for several months and only the bad smells got through.
Thinks like aftershave and flowers are still faint, but are still weak.
I have never had Covid and the last PCR test proved it, but I did suffer with a really bad cold last Autumn, this caused me to be able to eat a spoonful of mustard and feel no heat whatsoever. It felt and tasted like mayonnaise. This took 6 boxes of cold remedies to shift.
This super-cold seems to be coming back again, this half term. So expect it to last longer than usual and keep wearing masks if ill.
Your sense of smell should return. |

"I’ve been without my smell now for 6 months and its pissing me off
I can’t smell food or perfume or owt
Hope it bloody comes back"
It comes back eventually for almost everyone, within a year, so you should be okay. It might not be exactly the same though. Mine took 9 months then came back really suddenly, from nowhere! |

You not got lateral flow tests to test yourself?
Might be a good place to start although 5 days, your probably over it. |

If you have symptoms, book a PCR or go to a walk in centre.
Stop drinking washing up liquid too. |

I had covid in November 2020,
As a part of it I lost my sense of taste and smell for around 6 weeks.
If i drank coffee, I knew I was drinking something bitter but could not taste the coffee
or
if something like a chocolate bar, I knew it was sweet , but couldnt taste the actual product.
Over a period of 6 weeks it gradually came back just in time for Xmas |

Yippee, think of the roasties and the meat coming out of the oven...then think of the sprouts and what they kick out.

I’ve had it for last 8 days, fully jabbed as well, still got senses of taste and smell but the cough seems to be getting worse, still testing positive, any suggestions to ease cough / slight breathlessness? How much longer will it last? |

"I had covid back in 2020 and my sense of smell hasn’t been right since. A nurse told me that if it’s not back to normal after a few months you will never get it back fully "
Same here. I caught it during the first wave. My sense of smell hasn't been right since. |

My smell returned after about 6 weeks. My wife's still isn't back properly and we had Covid 6 months ago. We found that we can both smell a sort of burning metallic smell a lot as well. Not sure what it is, but we both smell it at different times, so its not a fire, lol. |

Farts! Yes! Smell like burnt coals or metal? Its so odd but makes it worse for me. |

Had Covid around the time the Delta strain was knocking about and lost my sense of smell completely which came back relatively quickly.
Had what I thought was a bad cold a week or so ago and now have just a feint sense of smell and an overpowering smell of wood smoke in my nose which is quite unpleasant. Guessing it may not have been a cold. |

Had covid October last year. Lost my sense of smell for a couple of days which was weird. I'd sniff olbas oil, feel my nose tingle from it but brain just registered it as fresh air. So weird.
After coffee, tobacco, all smelled rank. Coffee now is back to normal, other two aren't and still are disgusting. Also mint weirdly has a strange tang when I first smell it now. |
