No, it does not "raise this possibility" at all.

It is very simple. The restrictions were necessary when the situation was critical and are less so now.

It's the same as a flood warning.

The advice to maintain causation will remain.

I have Covid at the moment. Tested positive Sunday. You wouldn't know I have it. Couple of sniffels, that's it.

If this is it going forward, and the disease has mutated to this present mild strain, people will just need to live with it and get back to a normal life. Some will continue to wear masks and that's ok.

Clearly Boris is doing it to boost his popularity but it's good news nonetheless. Hopefully it's for good this time and maybe the UK can lead the world when it comes to moving on and 'living with' COVID without restrictions and vaccine passports etc.

I think that some might be a bit more socially responsible and wear a mask if they have a bad cold or flu is no bad thing going forward..

Since there isn't a huge surge in hospitalisations or deaths, it seems a sensible decision. I wonder, though, if it's also influenced by the current political climate. Can a government holding regular parties under lockdown expect us to follow restrictions?

I know everyone is celebrating but lets not pretend things are perfect or low in numbers. The numbers going into Hospital is are not going down yet and with 438 poor souls dying yesterday, which was 40 more than this time last week then it may not be a "surge" but it isn't nothing either

438 didn't die yesterday, their deaths were recorded yesterday. Tuesday is always the highest day for deaths because of a lag in reporting. And a reminder that these are deaths from ANY CAUSE within 28 days of a positive test.

The hospital numbers have been flat for weeks and likewise, many of the people in the hospital numbers went into hospital with something else and tested positive while there. What is it they say about lies and statistics...

Lets not be pedantic, it just spoils debate, but I will add some words for you if it helps

438 people were recorded as dying yesterday, it isn't normally months after when someone dies that they are recorded as a death so we should assume it was very recent that they died

For the rest of your post,I am reading the stats where people went into Hospital with Covid, if you don't want to believe the stats that is obviously up to you.

Blanquer was not breaking any laws – there were no Covid restrictions stopping travel to Spain and ministers had been asked to remain in Europe, two hours from Paris.

Perfecly in line with the restrictions at the time. Nothing hypocritical about that, other French citizens were allowed to visit Ibiza at the same time if they wanted to.

The safety measures were necessary.

The safety measures continue to be necessary.

This is a purely political move designed to appease the headbangers on the Tory back benches and save Johnson's job.

An awful lot of people are going to be killed or disabled just so a disgusting narcissist can continue to be Prime Minister.

"And free LFT tests to be withdrawn. Seems the death cult wing of the Tories is firmly in control now."

Good, it's only the testing that's keeping this thing going. They're not 'free', they're costing the government millions.

COVID is the only cult here.

"Excellent! What nonsense it has been. I've just read that a French Cabinet member announced tougher restrictions...and then went on holiday to Ibiza

We don’t live in France

It raises the possibility that politicians internationally have known their restrictions have actually been nonsense.

At least England is making a move in the right direction

No it doesn’t, different countries , different circumstances,

Yet very similar behaviour from pro-lockdown politicians in countries across the world. Total hypocrites

No it isn’t

The French Cabinet member cited above?

Never one to give the full facts when a nice 'headline' can be made are you?

Blanquer was not breaking any laws – there were no Covid restrictions stopping travel to Spain and ministers had been asked to remain in Europe, two hours from Paris.

Perfecly in line with the restrictions at the time. Nothing hypocritical about that, other French citizens were allowed to visit Ibiza at the same time if they wanted to.

This is getting tiresome. Did you see the 'world leaders' at the G7? The EU's Ursula Von Der Leyen, the EU's Charles Michel, Macron, Angela Merkel, Biden, Trudeau. Kept their distance and their masks on while the photographers were there...then took them off when they thought the cameras were switched off.

Total hypocrites. Did they know their own regulations were overreactions?

Tiresome? oh absolutley not I find it amusing that every time (and lets be honest there have been a few) that someone points out you are not been entirely honest you ignore the fact you have been caught out again and post more rubbish in an attempt to seem rational.

Please keep it up ive not laughed so much in years.

In what way have I not been honest? All the hypocrite politicians I've named...which one was I wrong about? Which ones of those I've named actually followed their own rules?

Get your political blinkers off.

Over to you"

Here ya go this bit.

And to help you understand as its proving difficult

Blanquer was not breaking any laws – there were no Covid restrictions stopping travel to Spain and ministers had been asked to remain in Europe, two hours from Paris.

The announcement was made over the xmas/new year break via video ... he was already in Ibiza.

The government has seen sense at last.

Now we have to get to the truth of all this nonsense.

The next step, in the interests of truth and democracy, is to overturn the Ofcom guidelines that have restricted public access to information.

One day there has to be a series of public inquiries into the lies we have been told.

People have given up two years of their lives. People are getting slowly furious

The safety measures continue to be necessary.

This is a purely political move designed to appease the headbangers on the Tory back benches and save Johnson's job.

An awful lot of people are going to be killed or disabled just so a disgusting narcissist can continue to be Prime Minister.

At least now Ofcom stops political targeting of the oppressed with the most obviously dangerous nonsense.

Only when the public are told the full facts can public opinion really be said to be properly informed.

"I have Covid at the moment. Tested positive Sunday. You wouldn't know I have it. Couple of sniffels, that's it.

If this is it going forward, and the disease has mutated to this present mild strain, people will just need to live with it and get back to a normal life. Some will continue to wear masks and that's ok.

"

Sadly not everyone is as lucky. I have a friend fighting for his life in hospital with omicron and has no underlying conditions….. it’s still a disease that can make some very poorly indeed

"Since there isn't a huge surge in hospitalisations or deaths, it seems a sensible decision.

What is it they say about lies and statistics..."

Actually in all of the figures and the slides they show in the briefings they always make the distinction of those that die with covid.. and those who die of covid…..

And as for the high Tuesday figures… you are right, there is sometimes lag due to offices being close at the weekend… so we look at the 7 day average

7 day average figure…. Still the highest it has been in a long time!!

"Excellent! What nonsense it has been. I've just read that a French Cabinet member announced tougher restrictions...and then went on holiday to Ibiza"

Or do you post that much nonsense that you need reminding which bit of nonsense it is?

So it wasn't wrong on a point of fact; just you didn't like the way it was written?"

What was the point of this ‘fact ‘ the only thing it highlighted was the fact you didn’t understand the covid rules in France

"Some adults behave like children

And some adults, like children when caught out in a lie just cant admit to it.

A bit like your French Minister 'story'

You know the point very well but you are pretending you don't so you don't have to confront the fact that the official response hasn't even been believed in by the people making the rules.

Is that difficult to grasp?

"There seems a reluctance among the lockdown enthusiasts to separate truth from lies.

Why?"

We have not been in lockdowns for nearly a year, why do you think anybody who is wary of what's going on because they don't want many people dying actually want lockdowns?

Did the French minister break the rules or not? If he didn’t how can he be a hypocrite? Is that difficult to grasp

What fact was incorrect? I ask because a few lines up you said you objected to the way I'd written it.

Can we get to the bottom of this? What fact was incorrect?

The fact that you stated that the French minister didn’t believe the rules he had set, do you have any proof of this

Well why would he go on holiday. If you mean has he written a document admitting he didn't believe in the rules...with respect, don't be ridiculous

You, me and everyone else knows you were trying to sensationalise a story to make it appear the French Minister was being hipoctitical over covid restrictions. When he wasnt ... he didnt announce or breach restrictions and jet off to IBIZA which is what you were trying to say/imply.

Just be honest with your posts and give full context, it might be a novel idea to you but it saves all this backwards and forwards

You sound very defensive about how those who urged tougher restrictions were very casual in their own behaviour. Like you just want to defend them and ridicule any questions.

If you can't see the hypocrisy and contempt then I don't know how you would ever see it

What are you on about? It wasn’t against the rules to go on holiday to Ibiza. I am afraid you now have less credibility on the covid forum then you did in the politics section (and that takes some doing after the number of embarrassing and totally confusing posts you put in there) , it is not a good look

Simple question, was it against the rules for the French minister to travel to Ibiza? Yes or no
