And how much on test kits that are inaccurate. 400 million dished out by December I believe from research the cost is around £5 per test kit. How is it 2 years ago they couldn't put roofs on schools or provide paper and books. How many lives would have been saved if that money was spent on public health and deprived areas.
This is nothing to do with public health and saving lives. |

"The Government spent 32 billion on the test and trace app… that’s more than the entire research and development budget of Microsoft …
Where did the money really go? "
Are you sure they spent that money just on the app? That sounds incredibly unlikely.
I can easily imagine they have spent that sort of sum on the whole programme of work but on the app - no. |

That money could of went into recruiting more NHS staff, cancer research, treatments, mental health, alcoholism and the obesity problem and would of saved countless life’s from the destruction the lockdowns have caused. It’s amazing how so much money has been wasted and the problem we as the taxpayer will probably have to foot the bill at some stage. |

This was claimed by "someone on Facebook" according to the Fullfact fact checker. The actual cost for the app was £76 million. |

Just read this.
It's $32 billion, which is about £23 billion.
It's also the entire Test and Trace system, not just the app. So that's payments for the testing centres, consultants, labs, etc.
Still a huge amount, but not anything like is being implied here. |

Its not the app it's the full service.
Still alot of money but please be clear when stating numbers as there is a lot of miss information out there.
So test and trace includes the app but also testing facilities, the salaries of people doing the testing and tracing etc.

In related news Rushi Sunak and HM Treasury look like they might write of the suspected £4bn in Covid support fraud (business grants, furlough payments etc).
£4bn
Let that sink in. That is our money they won’t try to recover! What could that pay for? Guess how that will get paid back? That’s right, through tax rises. |

Several £billions were paid out illegaly, or is unaccounted for. Of course the 'VIP' contract lane that Conservative Ministers, MPs and House of Lords members pushed business through for money for goods that were often resale of unusable shoddy crap, doesn't get the attention it deserves ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

Tax rises. And printing money... which is a hidden tax which hits you when you are elderly.
What else will come out when the history books are written? |

Indeed. Sovereign currency provider, “prints” money to borrow from self that leads to inflation hitting us all in the pocket AND then tell us we need tax rises to pay (ourselves) back! |

Imagine if all the money so called invested or spent on aspects of varied protections would’ve been spent on the NHS. Wouldn’t be possible to use it as a bargaining chip then though. ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

If they really are paying a fiver per test then that is symptomatic of everything wrong with the NHS. It over pays for everything.
We run a Covid test centre in Germany and buy Lateral Flow Tests (LFT'S) in bulk.
Depending on the manufacturer and type of kit the price varies from 1.60€ (£1.36) to 2.80€ (£2.39). And that is for buying a few thousand at a time, not a few million.

May 21 schools and colleges 5.7 million tests per week.
Primary schools around 850k so 7.5 million alone in education in one week. Even at 50 p per test that is a lot of money that should have been spent elsewhere. Maybe on improving sports facilties or public recreation areas in deprived areas.
Its a complete scandal and has shown our government to be utterly useless and corrupt.
However most of us have known that for many years |

I once knew the NHS pay £12,000 for something that should have cost about £4,000. I know it's correct as I was involved in it.
It's only taxpayers' money! But I wonder how much of this ineptitude goes on |

Indeed we have, but even major savings are blown away by these ridiculous lockdowns |

I commiserate you on having had David Cameron as your MP.
If there was a viable opposition people wouldn't need to vote Conservative.
The Tories are a shower of shit, but they have been aided and abetted by other parties throughout this debacle.

When this app was offered to the public, under the radar the government changed the data rules for the Nhs.
They gave the public a choice to opt out, if people didn't opt out their information could be shared, or sold to data brokers, where you eat or drink, you location your contacts and the information you hold on your contacts and many other bits of data we all give out on a daily bases.
I opted out and didn't use the app I just kept the cards. |

No the money was spent on the entire testing and tracing system, including all the home testing, lab testing, labs, testing centres, app, employees at all the above, call centres for contact tracing, distribution of all the ppe so testing staff and so on and so on. |

So my point is they who ever they are, designers of the app, the government and the Nhs and whoever else have made a profit from the questioned 32 with our money by selling the data of those who opted out or were unaware of this to data brokers which is a billion dollar business. |
