Keep the paracetamol regular to control temperature plenty of sleep and if it affects your chest/lungs get steroids and antibiotics from doctors it worked for me still took 6 weeks for my lungs to recover though |

Very good advices given already I would add to that a lot of hot drinks (especially fresh lemon and ginger tea with honey), Lemsip tea also helps.. I know it tastes awful but it helped me recover faster when I got COVID-19.
Wish you a speedy recovery |

I tested positive in August, so did lots of my friends that went to same event.
Yes I was rough for 6 days, tiredness, fever, cough, lack of breath. I stayed in bed mostly.
It wasn't as bad as the flu, which I've also had many years ago! |

I found the muscle pains awful. Pain killers and a hot water bottle for comfort. If you get breathless later on (it seems to be one of the later symptoms that comes on) spend some time lying on your front as it allows your lungs to inflate more fully because your other organs aren’t squashing them. Hope you’re feeling better soon x |

If you are drinking lemsip don't take paracetamol tablets as lemsip contains paracetamol. |

"I have I too. Would barely even know. Few sneezes here and there "
Some are luckier than others ... and you don’t find out how it is going to affect you until you get it.
Most people suffer mild symptoms or none, and that has built a level of complacency.
Best of luck to OP for a speedy recovery |

Just to clarify the drug advice here...
Lemsip is expensive paracetamol with a bit of decongestant.
Limit paracetamol to 4g in any single 24 hour period. There is potential for liver damage if this dose is exceeded.
Antibiotics are only useful for a secondary bacterial infection, covid is a virus.
I hope it doesn't hit you hard and you recover soon but call 111 if you need support or advice. |

"I had it 6 weeks ago OP. It lasted 48 hours and was like a bad cold. I have had no lasting side effects.
I am more than twice your age so you should bounce back to full health in no time. "
If only it was as simple as age. Back in Easter, two of our teacher tested positive at the same time after sharing a car too and from a training event. The first of the two a 52 year old woman is a smoker and overweight... she was really rough for about a week and returned to school after the Easter holidays. The second, a 46 year old bloke, is slim, doesn't smoke, exercises at the gym three days a week. He was really ill for ages, and rushed into hospital twice barely able to breath. He didn't return to work at all for around 6-8 weeks end when he did he was on a reduced work load for a good while longer. When we returned to school after the summer holidays, he said he was around 80% back to normal.

When most people suffer no symptoms or mild symptoms or is easy to become complacent.
A friend if mine, early 50’s, 6 foot 6, cycles and runs all the time, fit, not overweight, and a doctor, ended up on ventilator for 2 weeks.

Hello OP, I hope that you get well soon. I'm a little confused by the title of this post; before you caught COVID,did you think that it wasn't real? And if so why? Also, are you triple jabbed (2 COVID vaccinations and a booster)? Please don't feel obliged to answer these questions, I'm just curious. |

I am sorry to hear that. I am of course double vaccinated so that probably helped. |

That is sad, I had a friend die from Covid. We thought he would recover but then he suddenly sunk.
Despite being 65 my doctor says I have a great immune system. It may be ginetics, clean living (!! ) or possibly the fact that when I worked and travelled I often had vaccinations for obscure non European diseases. I must have had over 100.
So perhaps my immune system has been kept on its toes?? |

Take even just 5 minutes of your time to check out ‘gain of function research’ by the American NIH and how the research facility was pushed out to Wuhan China and where the money was coming to make viruses found in animals and making them more infectious and more dangerous by modifying the viral sequencing and also making them able to infect humans… the American Senate is currently asking some very strong questions around emails that confirm that this in fact was the case and that fact that was happening was both illegal and immoral practices!!
Thanks |

"well it is the flu season youll be fine in a couple days"
That might be the case for flu, but the OP has stated that he has tested positive for Covid. Covid affects everyone differently.
My ex husband a 59 year old overweight, but physically fit paramedic caught Covid March 2020, was in hospital desperately ill, to the extent that I had to sit with my son to explain what we needed to do if his dad didn't make it. He pulled through, but has permanently scarred lungs and will never fully recover. He is back to work, but still struggles with fatigue.
Please do not presume everyone will be fine in a few days, as that is not the case. |

"Zinc, vitamin C and D. Plenty of water and sleep. You'll be right as rain fella"
Zinc Lozenges are really helpful for the throat / cough - I used the Solgar 22mg ones (- but important to limit to 2 a day to not overdose on zinc.)
Drink LOTs of water - covid is hard on the kidneys apparently. |

I really hope he is going to recover as much is possible but you have to understand one thing, at least 95% or more people will be fine, same as common cold, that's fact |

"I have covid. Heard people say it was just cold symptoms but it feels more like flu and I feel awful."
For me it was just a sore throat and the chills for two days. Was feeling ok after that until I got stomach cramps. It's a weird one as aside from that I mostly feel ok but at same time not quite 100% yet. I keep thinking i might be getting a cold but I'm not. |

Of course I understand that the majority of people will be fine, I was replying to the rather flippant comment about it being over in a couple of days. Unfortunately the possibility of becoming seriously ill is not solely the elderly or vulnerable people with underlying health conditions. That was the point of my comment. Yes the vast majority will recover very quickly, but that leaves a small minority who won't. |

"Tested positive for covid. Feels like I’ve been hit by a lorry. Any advice? "
Order a OxiMeter and monitor your blood oxygen regularly.
If it takes a dive or you feel light headed or start illuminating, call 111.
Many ending up in hospital have drifted down in oxygen levels in hypoxia where is it not felt only to find levels are dangerously low.
The NHS were giving out for free but unsure if still the case. |

One of my (fit and healthy) 17yo students is currently too ill with COVID to take examinations. He is being cared for by a carer at home. Absolutely nothing prior to suggest it would unfold like that for him, but there we are. I doubt he's needed carers at home for a cold, eh? |

4th day in for me...
Not as bad as flu, worse than a bad cold.
Fully vaxxed, I have it, J doesn't.
Couldn't get out of bed the first day. 2 nights of profuse sweating. Rest of the time, just been tired, drained, headaches, really dry throat, but now just like a bad head cold. First day I've worked today.
J won't let me out of the bedroom, and not for the right reasons!
Also contributing to global warming and climate she's got every window in the house open... I swear it's 3 degrees warmer outside than it is inside.

No, got to keep the door open to maintain the air flow....at the moment the glacial flow of a siberian mid-winter gale is whistling right through my Urals! |

I'll screw door open and point some big air movers from front and back doors into your room.
Any use?
Heated blankets in LIDL for £15 at the moment. Just got one and love it.. |
