I like the concept that viruses are a highly intelligent enemy and quickly adapt to the changes on their battlefield.
The reality is that they are such simple organisms that even their most basic function (replication) is clumsy and un-precise... this is what causes mutations.

Variants will arise in countries with low vaccination rates (who have a strong correlation with poverty rates amongst other factors)
Delta was initially from India
Omicron from Botswana (I think)
More will occur naturally and unless all international travel is stopped indefinitely it is what it is
But no, nothing to do with the vaccine itself |

The omicron variant isn't as strong but a higher transmission rate.
The problem is now with so many people getting it and isolating our infastructure could break down.
They are now reducing the 10 day isolation period , I've been saying this for ages.
What is really pissing me off is they are hiding certain facts like how many people are in hospital with omicron who have had the two jabs and the booster.
What percentage of people are in hospital who haven't had the jabs .
They are just giving figured like number of deaths or number of people who are positive. These are all scare factors to get people to isolate themselves |

I doubt they're hiding anything, but collecting data takes a lot of time and effort, and making it available to the public in an understandable format, even more so. Especially because you can guarantee that whatever they provide, someone will want something else.
A lot of the raw data is available on various government web sites. |

Theoretically just virtually no unvaccinated people in hospital they only make up 9% of the over 12 year Olds and also younger people are less likely to be hospitalized by covid and they are the majority of the unvaccinated. If the unvaccinated are making up more than 1 or 2% of people in hospital then the vaccines are working. |
