Hi guys
Really hoping our source is wrong but looks like it’s happening again soon.
With wales shutting night clubs down I guess chameleons in Newport is a no go for us now as was heading down there between Christmas and NYE.
I don’t think I could manage another lockdown as it really screwed with my head last time and I lost a lot of hair, gained a lot of weight and for me became a lot quieter - started to come out my shell last few months again.
School has told my girls to take all their stuff home including books
What’s your thoughts?
We’re double jabbed (literally and medically lol) and boosters on Monday |

Don't worry about something that hasn't happened or may never happen
The news of school pupils not going back into school in the new year was reported on this week and is something head teachers are preparing for to be one step ahead of predicted Omicron increases.
A lot of people are mixing up planned precautions with imminent lockdown.

Would you be supportive of a lockdown with no government support financially? "
I can’t afford a lockdown as I need a wage. That’s that problem. I also work for a childrens hospice and we need the shops open to bring in revenue x |

The issue is that Boris doesn’t current have the clout to demand tougher restrictions with the whole number 10 parties scandal
Especially not before Christmas
If he wants to lockdown, it’s gotta be after Christmas
There’s no point doing that because omicron will have taken control.
88k positive tests yesterday. Omicron is said to be double every 2 days
That’s almost 3 million cases a day just by NYE if things keep doubling
There’s no controlling this. Lockdown won’t do anything unless it’s a Chinese style lockdown, which the public don’t do.
And I think they know that. |

Be careful, you'll be labeled a "Lockdown Masterbater" by even mentioning the word.
I agree though, it's coming (or something in another guise) and has hateful as they are, vaccines are going to be 'too little, too late'.
This scenario should have been planned for in summer and started rolling as soon as they heard of it.
Now they are running round like rats in a sack injecting people with vaccine that takes at least 2-3 weeks to have an impact at a time infection is rising exponentially.
Why now are they on their knees begging for volunteers when all this could have been put in place and planned over summer.
Be careful falling for the "this one will be milder" as where it was observed, was in a population that had not long been vaccinated naturally by a Delta wave.
We've been caught with our pants down, again!! |

That’s true, you’re right. It’s just that they didn’t anticipate omicron would happen during the summer months - so the urgency wasn’t there.
I think that there might be tighter restrictions rather than a full lockdown. And if any tighter restrictions are imposed, they are more likely to come after Christmas than before. |

Yes most have survived but many of them have been left with damaged lungs and or other long term health problems.
Even a lot of those in research groups who feel perfectly well have been shown to have lung damage on scans which will more than likely impact them in later life.
This isn't just a flu bug that you completely recover from and we are still making discoveries about the damage it is doing in the background to seemingly healthy people.
Avoiding catching it is really the best option. |

Boris said from the start of releasing Lockdown earlier in the year, many, many times over "so long as a new variant doesn't appear and set things back".
This infers a variant was possible (listening to his SAGE advisors, even expected), that a new vaccine would need to be prepared and distributed quickly.
The 'shell' of rapid response should have been put in place months ago. It will play out time and time again as it does with updating flu vaccines.
A 'Vaccine Task Force' as Ed Davy has called for. Taking reliance away from the NHS to distribute and jab leaving GPs and hospitals free for Primary Care. |

Never really seen what good smashing windows and setting cars on fire ever achieved other than getting the water cannons deployed. Protesting yes everyone should have the right to do that for whichever stance they take but when the line is crossed in to violence and destruction it has a very negative impact on what you were standing for |

Whatever you think of Boris I will give him credit that he’s trying to balance public health vs the economy.
Furlough only ended in October, so the government had basically paid people to stay at home and paid your tax and NI in the process for 20 months, that’s why we currently have a debt that’s running of 108% of our GDP.
SAGE advisers keep pushing lockdowns because they still get paid their full wage, it doesn’t affect them.
Morally Furlough should be reintroduced if we have another lockdown but we are having a tax rise to fund the NHS, how will that work if you are regurgitating the funds you have if you are paying it back out.
Interest rates are going up, mortgages are going up, will the banks and building societies offer payment holidays again ?
Finally, if we get another variant a couple of times a year (like the flu has variants) for the next 5 years are we going to keep opening and shutting the economy because if we do we are heading for a major recession with job losses and home repossessions because whatever you all might think the ‘pot is empty’ and we got around it last time by printing more money, but that is coming back to bite us with interest rate rises !
I’m no Boris fan but a lot to consider with the likes of Whitty and Vallance covering their backsides before the forthcoming public inquiry !
