Modern science has often been touted as the new 'religion' and so it all comes sown to faith.
As with religion those with faith will follow it's recommendations without question.
Also, it seems, those without faith are being treated like heretics and burned at the metaphorical stake.
Who would have thought that in 2021 we'd descend to the ideology of the middle ages. |

I think the issue is much more to do with which science politicians and the media have chosen to focus on and which companies have been funded to pursue what.
Then throw in social media and we get conspiracies and confusion.
Science isn't the problem. |

You are suggesting that those without faith have somehow been swayed, that they are unable to think for themselves? That seems quite a generalisation and overly simplistic.
I have no faith, i also have no time for conspiracy theories nor any interest in social media.

Faith was only a stopgap until science caught up.
With those that hold onto faith ignoring the proven science being wilfully ignorant. "
I am not equating modern science to religion. Substitute faith for belief/confidence if it helps but you'll find that they are synonymous. |

You don't need to be on social media to be influenced by it.
Something the pandemic has highlighted is that actually people don't think for themselves.
They prefer to follow.
That includes those that call themselves 'independent thinkers' but that are actually just saying the same stuff as all the other 'independent thinkers'. |

Claptrap. Faith is the belief in something without evidence, or even contrary to it.
When it comes to science, what we have is a reasonable confidence based on rigourous method and repeatable results. |

Rest assured i have not been influenced by social media, nor do i regurgitate the ideas of other 'independent thinkers'.
As for 'following', are we not being encouraged to 'follow' the recommendations and guidelines set out by politicians at the behest of the 'new religion'.
Who then can claim to be truely thinking for themselves?
The real problem comes when the guidelines and recommendations stop being the guidelines and recommendations and take on a more sinister bent. Sadly i feel we are fast heading towards that. |

Science is based on data, empirical evidence and statistics, faith is based on belief. The two are very different. Science won’t necessarily be right but it is better than the alternative and guessing. |

How is science and religion the same thing ? They are different things entirely and cannot be comparable. God has given mankind the best brains so mankind gradually gets better at scientific discoveries and solutions.
Religion on the other hand is about how you should live your life in this world, ie, good morals and values, and also how you can save yourself from Hell by not being wicked or immoral, and thus attaining heaven by being good human beings and staying away from the devils temptations. |

That is how science works, a theory holds up until new evidence emerges which shows it is wrong, then the theory is modified to take account of the new evidence. Very different to faith. |
