Help me out here… cause I am really confused
Why in some ranks are there disapproval of taking an LFT before attending a club, or taking one at a club before entering….
If we’re are saying passports aren’t the solution, and none of us want clubs to close… then isn’t this a half way compromise people should be able to get behind….. |

I would think it sensible for anybody irrespective of vaccine status to get a test done before going to an environment not suited to social distancing and where there is a likelihood of swapping bodily fluids with someone. |

We certainly have different opinions on these forums with compromise needing to be fought over.
In the red corner we have, life should be as it was before and nothing should change.
In the blue corner we have, everything should change to prevent the covid spread.
The referee for this event is someone in the middle, that is usually very quiet and makes informed decisions.
The bout will be fought over 3 years, there will be eye gauging, biting, a lot of back stabbing and definitely no winner.

I'd not understand why some would be against testing, unless they felt it made some people adopt a mindset of them being invincible, or they had a false result etc
It's a great idea and could be logged in the NHS passport.
On news today, the LFT tests are out of stock though ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

I am fully vaccinated and had the booster but would still happily take an lft on the door for entry to a club as I am awear that the vaccine may reduce how hard the virus hits me increasing the chance of me being asymptomatic and reduces my chance of catching and transmitting somewhat but doesn't stop it. I think the clubs need to do anything they can to stay in business at the moment whilst also protecting customers as best they can so a simple lft test is the best way forward as it shows you dont have the virus at point of entry. |

No brained for me! Even as fully vaccinated I would prefer that clubs insist on negative LFT proof on door full stop. I have no faith in the clubs that only want vaccination proof. Vaccinated or not we can all be carriers and spreaders.

Far to much common sense in 1 post

It really is that simple especially as I am a carer for a family member who is medically vulnerable |

Exactly this! You’ll get unvaccinated come into clubs already tested and that but if you’re vaccinated you could have covid with no symptoms but no one would have a clue as you wouldn’t need to do a test! |

Why wouldn't a vaccinated person test before going to a club ? |

The word "Before" been the operative word.
Anyone can say they have taken a test and register it as a negative result without even taking a test, all they need is a test kit with a reference number to register it on the government website. And they'll get an email stating they have tested negative and are allowed entry to venues requiring a Covid passport for 48 hours from the time of the test.
Unfortunately there will be people who will do this. The only way to stop it would be to do the test on site, but will people be willing to hang around waiting for results before been allowed to be entered x

That wouldn't stop anything. Anyone that would fake a negative without doing just wouldn't push the swab in very far, thus guaranteeing a negative.
It's more unreliable nonsense. |

What about people who have had covid recently.....
They are more likely to be negative because of natural immunity, but also more to show a positive lateral flow test because of antibodies in their system.
That's why lfts or pcrs are not recommended for 90 days after covid. |

Because they don’t actually HAVE to
Obviously some will but some won’t because they’ll just get in with their vaccine passport |

I’ve never heard of anyone having an issue with taking a LFT before going to a club. |

3 things from medical professionals we know.
(1) LFT tests are not nearly as sensitive as PCR so need more virus (on the swab) to show a positive, if indeed you are positive.
(2). Lateral flow tests have to be done properly. Done by a "professional" they're about 80% accurate, done at home by us about 20%. So pay attention to where the swab goes and how long its there for etc as per instructions.
(3). They are far more likely to give a positive if you are highly infectious as enough virus will get on the swab to trip that test - In a way this is a good thing as the more virus you have in your body the more infectious you will be. ie The more important it is you stay away from people if you get a positive LFT. |
