No. It’s a huge part of life at the moment, and one of Fab’s strengths is that people discuss a broad range of topics.
Banning topics people don’t want to read apart is a slippery slope. If it waa of no interest, it would wither naturally. |

Nope they shouldn't, there is something known as freedom of speech. If people don't want to hear about it just steer clear of this part of the forum, it's that simple. The virus forum was created to keep discussions regarding the ongoing pandemic off of the main boards so that people had a choice to participate in the discussions or ignoring the board if they so choose. |

OP it takes a special type of entitlement, arrogance and a blinkered sense of ones own self importance to request the shut down of a website sub section just because you don't want to see or use it. 
Here's a thought don't go into, read or post in the virus section if its not for you.
Yes at times it can be heated but ultimately it has acted as a support area for many people through these unprecedented times.

No topic should be banned.
This is the problem. People suggesting things should be 'banned' or 'cancelled' or whatever.
We should all be rooting for Free Speech. And reminding people that with that necessity comes diligence, awareness and consequence. |

I suppose the thread could be used for other purposes.
It allows us to avoid all the conspiracy nut cases out there
At somepoint I'm gonna spend an afternoon skimming through it and blocking those types. (the conspiracy nuts I mean, not people just generally discussing things) |

Agree totally on the latter point, would say I think on the whole the mods have binned the more outlandish down the rabbit hole stuff when made aware..

Although tbf many posts that fit in this tend to dog whistle.
There's are some very pationat anti covid vaccine ppl here. And for those that have been directly affected, I understand that. And they spend a lot of time raising the what they see as valid awareness. And as they don't believ data they seek to do so through anecdotal evidence.
If I was them I'd be pissed off with some of the easily disputed "anti" evidence... Like whistling towards the Wigan (I think) footballer who wasn't even vaccinated. Or the 'fifa" list which included deaths from before the vaccines came about. If you hear enough crys for wolf you start to become cynical. And pro vaxxers will miss any real sign of wolves because of it.
I don't think anybody can say that the above examples are just different points of view or different (valid) data. |
