Swinging clubbers and party organisers
So does this mean we now have to produce a COVID pass upon entry...so to speak?
No problem as will do a lateral flow test tonight but just wondered...

I only recently found out that lateral flow tests are just a routine check for people who do not have any symptoms. If you have any symptoms whatsoever, you must have a PCR test. Is it just me? |

Yep. It's been the rule ever since they came out. Pcr for symptoms. |

Probably a postcode lottery, but where I live last week, I was lucky to book a PCR test on the same day and got the results the next day. |

I have been thinking about this, if you travel abroad you must pay for any tests through a 3rd party and they upload the data once complete.
Will the LFT required by non vaccinated people be the same, paid by the individual to a 3rd party?

No, not at the moment. You just take a free LFT.
In fact, you don't even have to take the test - just enter the barcode on their website and say it was negative and it will update your Covid passport.
It's a fucking farce. |

Yes.
From .gov main website:
From 15 December, certain venues and events will be required by law to check that all visitors aged 18 years or over are fully vaccinated (currently a full course of vaccination without the need for a booster, but this will be kept under review), have proof of a negative test in the last 48 hours, or that they have an exemption. This means that those aged 18 years or over must show their NHS COVID Pass, or an alternative proof of a negative test result, such as an email or text proof, to gain entry into these venues.
You can access your NHS COVID Pass through:
the NHS App
NHS.UK
A letter that you can obtain on NHS.UK or by calling 119
The NHS COVID Pass lets you share your COVID vaccination status and test results in a secure way for entry to domestic venues or events.
You can obtain an NHS COVID Pass two weeks after completing a full course of vaccination or with a negative test in the last 48 hours. The NHS COVID Pass can be obtained with two doses (or one of the single-dose Janssen vaccine), but we will keep this under review as boosters are rolled out. You can also obtain an NHS COVID Pass if:
you have received a trial vaccine as part of a formally approved COVID-19 vaccine trial in the UK
you have a medical reason that means you cannot be vaccinated, confirmed by your GP or a specialist clinician
You can also show email or text proof of your negative test result in order to gain entry to these venues.
The use of the NHS COVID Pass is required as a condition of entry into the following places:
- nightclubs, dancehalls and discotheques;
- other late night dance venues. These are any other venues that are:
- open between 1am and 5am;
- serve alcohol during this time;
- have a dancefloor (or designated space for dancing); and
provide music, whether live or recorded, for dancing.
indoor events with 500 or more unseated attendees, where those attendees are likely to stand or move around for all or part of the event, such as music venues with standing audiences or large receptions;
outdoor events with 4,000 or more unseated attendees, where those attendees are likely to stand or move around for all or part of the event, such as outdoor festivals; and any events with 10,000 or more attendees indoor or outdoor, such as large sports and music events
There are some settings that will be exempt from requirements to use the NHS COVID Pass including communal worship, wedding ceremonies, funerals and other commemorative events, protests, and mass participation sporting events. |

If that is the case, I see no reason to have a covid passport, they're not fit for purpose. |

Most people I know don't realise this.
I also did a thread about it a few weeks ago asking and most people on the thread didn't realise.

I don't understand how people do not know ow this. Right from the beginning it has been said if you have symptoms you must book a PCR test.
All I hear from people at work is I've got a cough but I'm OK my lft was negative then they look at me like I'm stupid when I tell them to leave the building book a PCR and come back when they know they are negative. |

I don’t understand why there isn’t more of a focus on testing! It seems to be mostly aimed at the symptomatic and the unvaccinated.
I personally don’t care if you’re vaccinated or not - I care if you’re infected!
It seems that the new plans don’t care much to test the vaccinated, which would be fine if there was no chance they could pass it on.
Maybe I’m missing something. |

Same at my work. All the covid symptoms but they just do LFT and carry on working.

When I came back from fuerteventura last month I had to pay for the 2 day lft and take a picture of the negative test and upload it when registering do it could be verified |

It's stupid and selfish. As well as reflects the government failure to create a properly reimbursed payment syste, for people who must isolate. |

It's always dependent on the circumstances. Where I am, you must show a passport for all shops. I had a PCR test yesterday, with results in about 4 hours. Mask wearing everywhere. Group sizes limited. If people test regularly, isolate if any symptoms and a passport system supports people who are tested, with a good testing system, it can reduce the levels of infections |

Yeah, that’s what you have to do for travel but it’s not that way to attend things in this country. I’ve just had to do one for a course and it was literally scanning the qr code and ticking negative. |

I understand the use of the pass and in theory it should really help reduce the number of unvaccinated people ending up in hospital beds.
However, if all it takes to get around the pass is to upload the QR code and tick the box negative, the pass is no longer a safeguard and I do not doubt for 1 minute the people who are determined to ignore advice, not test, not wear masks are well aware of how simple it is to bypass this covid pass and enter crowded venues unchallenged. |
