I'm so happy that this topic is mentioned 'cos I wanted to tells my few thoughts that is a bit connected to this in different way.
Let's talk about STI it herpes ot other sexually related inf. that is even more hide sometimes and if you going to club do you asking personally everyone about that? Certainly not ..
Going in deeper .. disco or trance party in London .. do we thinking of that?
Or back in 2000's playing music in club and taking home or in the car that cute blue eyed one who wanted to appreciate that you let behind the decks or played her fav track ..
anyways thinking back and realising how many times I playing with my life 'cos not not take risk seriously ..

Insist you both take a Lateral Flow Test before and after. PCR even better.
Make sure you both have your Test & Trace apps (and Bluetooth) on. Sanitise before and after the visit. Both wear masks throughout. Make sure all windows and doors are open all the time. Stay 2m apart at all times. There, you’ll be fine. . And definitely test before you go near your elderly parents. |

This is exactly the problem. Yes, he can pass on the virus if he is not vaccinated. Yes, he can pass on the virus if he is vaccinated but he is far less likely to. He is also less likely to die of it if he is vaccinated.
You have identified the risk - the higher risk that he can pass on a lethal virus to your parents and kill them, via you. Why would you even take a chance on it?

Because I looked it up and checked the figures after your response. Google is your friend . The exact figures don’t actually change my point; there I always an element of risk.
In simplistic terms, in a population of 52.5 million people where 50 million are double-vaccinated, 2.5 million of that 50 million are still vulnerable to the virus if it is 95% effective. The other 2.5 million unvaccinated are also vulnerable. So even with 95% vaccination you would expect the same number of people in each group to get ill. But obviously, having the vaccine will reduce your risk drastically.
Simplified statistics but hopefully it helps explain why you still see large numbers of vaccinated people getting Covid. |

Just ask him if he has even mild symptoms. Being unvaccinated and no symptoms at all he is more likely safe for you. I would’ve been more worried if he was vaccinated as these days there are a lot more cases in areas with a higher percentage of vaccinated people. Or just buy a lateral and ask him to test. If he is contagious there are about 80% chances that the test will pick it up. |

My opinion is irrelevant. Your reasoning is about as sensible as "it said in the advert my car would do 60mpg." Yes, it did. On a test track, without stopping or starting, without traffic jams and cold starts.
But that isn't real life. Nor has pretty much been anything said about the pandemic by this government who just pick the bits of science that they like and that they can sell to the Daily Mail.
Science changes, by experiment and analysis of results. That's what science is, not some carved in stone fairytale.
Those are best left to the people who voted for this clownshow in the first place.

Well, you need to consider the safety of BOTH parties, and the risks each pose to each other.
Since it has been said many times that being vaxxed does not mean you cannot still carry the virus, the person most at risk is the unvaccinated one (assuming the visitor is vaxxed).
However it's safer for all if neither meet.
And regardless of vax status, transmission happens between people so it's best not to meet at all to be honest. |

I mean if he is showing signs of covid then I wouldn't but other than that, crack on.
You mentioned your parents, I assume they are trippled jabbed by now (not as though that seems to make a blind bit of difference), do they go to the supermarket etc? If they do, then there is your answer...go.
