Will life ever go back to normality?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

My honest answer to this is I don't think we will ever go back to normality there are still people out there very scared of getting close to someone, back to wearing masks again in certain places.. I went to an outlet couple of days ago called Cheshire oaks if anyone has ever heard of it before, went into a few shops didn't have to wear a mask the minute I went into the expensive shops they demanded that I wear a mask

You are already living your normal. You can’t go back to normality. Even without Covid life would of moved on anyway

Normality changes often. There is no definite 'normal'.

C will be around for a while. It's not going to up and leave one day. It's your choice whether you let it take over your life.

Ps. Yesterday was Wednesday

I can't imagine life going back to what I think of as normal i.e. living without this darn virus and the restrictions it causes. It will happen, it happened after the flu pandemic of the early 20th century it just seems a long way off.

I think a lot of us long for "normality" whatever that means to us.

I saw this at the apple shop last Christmas. I had to wait to go into the shop and watched as security enforced a no mask no entry policy. A few tried I'm exempt, security asked to see their exempt cards, which nobody had, they were given a choice wear a mask or leave, they all took a mask.

Our Aldi and Tesco has a traffic light system and Co-op has masks at the door.

Of course noone had an exempt card. There is no such thing.

No retailer had the legal right to question why someone is exempt.

New mask regulations aside, i think the vast majority of people have got themselves vaccinated and pretty much returned to normal life; certainly if central London is anything to go by they have.

It will only go back to normal, when people say enough is enough and start living again. Covid is going no where. H1N1 is still around today, it just mutated to a milder form. So Covid is here to stay.

I refuse to walk around scared and judge people on their medical status. People are profiting of this fear and it will never end whilst people are still banging on about it.

If you live your life with fear of dying, unfortunately you wont be able to live.

Sitting in doors and not socialising and not being able to mingling with people you dont know, not being able to have a conversation and hear about other peoples life experiences and views is a boring unfulfilling life. A simple conversation with a stranger in a pub or somewhere out and about, can be a get experience. But we are now in a time, where those conversations are few and far between because we have been fed fear. Its sad times, however is finding this time interesting was probably boring before this pandemic.

Its time to put your big boy pants on and start living, we are here once and we are not here for long.

With over 5 million Covid deaths (and I'm not going to nitpick comorbities), the last thing I would call this is "boring".

Tragic, devastating, awful and heartbreaking yes.

Boring, absolutely not.

We are pretty much enjoying our life and its new normal.

The only major change to how we act is wearing a mask in public.

Otherwise our social life is back where it was and the changes to working from home instead of an office are welcome.

We don't know the evolutionary path of the virus, so can't predict how things will be. It looks like the vaccines are going to be available in the UK, so the major suppressive tool will continue to have effects here. We will be subject to mutations elsewhere though. Life will likely be impacted by those unfortunate enough to live in places with little help.

How the virus acts is unsure. How people vote for those who have had tens of thousands more deaths than we could have had, is unsure.

We took a very rare trip out yesterday, stopped for food at "Michael Wood" Motorway on the M5, barely a mask in sight!

That's what I find most disappointing, sad, annoying and very possibly threatening to other people's health and livelihoods.... Is that, even after all of this time and "comms" some people just seem to be ignorant or rebellious of any basic health and cleanliness, hand washing, covering mouths when sneezing and coughing, staying away from others when ill etc... Its very bizarre. Is it that they were never taught basic life skills? That they choose not to read the postering that's everywhere?

What has the sacking of Drs and Nurses got to do with your original comment or even your second one? I must be blind to not see the correlation?

Your notion of a corrupt government, was it corrupt before Covid, or has it become corrupt since Covid?

If it was corrupt before, what stance were you taking then? What were the pressing gmatters of the day?

Coronavirus is here to stay, says infectious diseases expert

An expert in infectious diseases has said coronavirus is likely to be "around forever".

Asked whether he thought the UK was closer to the start of the pandemic than the end, Professor Paul Hunter from the University of East Anglia told BBC Breakfast he "wouldn't necessarily agree totally with that".

"I think this virus is around [and] going to be around forever," he says.

"The last time we had a big coronavirus outbreak we think was 130 years ago and that virus is still circulating, we get infected with it fairly regularly, every three to six years, and it basically just causes the common cold.

"That is likely the way that this pandemic is going, so we will be repeatedly infected with COVID, we will be repeatedly infected with new variants but by and large, they'll just be another cause of the common cold."

He also said he did not think family gatherings this Christmas are "under threat" because there are usually fewer interactions between people, with people off work and children out of school at this time.'

"The longer people comply the longer the pandemic lasts

Yes. Let's not get vaccinated, not social distance, not wash our hands, not wear a mask.

Thats sure to make Covid dissappear and end the pandemic.

Winston

Didn’t say any of that did I Winston… any how keep following your corrupt government and dancing to their tune , i however would rather die on my feet than live on my knees !

Yes, yes you did. You're suggesting we don't comply with guidance/rules/advice etc, so that's exactly what you're saying.

You'd rather die on you feet than live on your knees? You're making yourself sound like a revolutionary.

Me, I'd rather not die at all.

So I'll be doing what's best for me and those around me.

You do you.

Winston

I’m more talking about the sacking of doctors and nurses for declining the vaccine. "

Your comment was, (and it's still clearly visible here), "The longer people comply the longer the pandemic lasts"

What has that got to do with "the sacking of doctors and nurses for declining the vaccine"

Not that I believe for one minute Doctors and Nurses are being sacked for declining the vaccine.

Winston

What rights have been taken away?

I assume you're aware that there are many rights that need to be restricted in order for society to work. IE. You don't have the right to punch grannies in the face. You don't have the right to flop your tackle out on the high street. Etc.

It is a figurative meaning

And I meant to describe those untold rights that we did not know to exist before covid

Want to hear a list?

Many clubs not let people in without injection

I cannot visit my own private dentist in hungary who I know 15yrs because of covid proof

I could not drink a coffee in budapest inside a bar where I "grown" up 'cos again proof

If by any reason God Forbid I should return to Hungary for living and working I literally f.up 'cos mostly jobs taking your CV if you injected.

The Airshow in Kecskemet was only open to vaccinated (never mind, slovak SIAF was even more exciting and actionpacked)

Financially the flight ticket cost £20 but with the tests and extras the one week holiday finished at £700

And you know what .. I'm afraif that times will come when you just simple cannot go in a shop if you not c passed

Right, so either get vaccinated, or wait for the pandemic to pass.

These are not the worst things to happen to people. More inconveniences, than loss of rights.

"My honest answer to this is I don't think we will ever go back to normality there are still people out there very scared of getting close to someone, back to wearing masks again in certain places.. I went to an outlet couple of days ago called Cheshire oaks if anyone has ever heard of it before, went into a few shops didn't have to wear a mask the minute I went into the expensive shops they demanded that I wear a mask"

Surely the question is, why didn’t the other (cheaper) shops require this, as it has become mandatory again?

I agree with you 110% and like your way of thinking

That was my opinion with a words "if thinking of get ill every minute than your mind will be more picky about things that normally ignore and programing yourself to become weaker"

Do reasonable guard but take gently and not seriously..

(well it is a bit suit for life itself and humour.. few people think I don't have serious personality 'cos most of the day I make humour or sarcasm.. well actually that's how I protecy myself to become tenant of the lunatic asylum LOL

This winter seems less deadly than the last one (so far). The vaccines seem to have smoothed reduced the link between infection and severe illness and death. Some restrictions still in place, but not as severe as last time (so far).

Hopefully next winter will carry on the same trajectory in terms of things improving.

So after next winter I hope things will return to normal-ish. By 2023 we will be living with covid in much the same way we do with flu. Mask wearing will have become more normal though in some situations.

I think the new normal will be a jab or 2 a year + masks in certain situations. Oh and far fewer handshakes than we used to see.

Some mask-refusers are turning violent when refused entry.

I assume that those same people cannot afford to shop in top-of-the-range shops

Once this short term episode is complete, Masks can fuck off again.

Masks are such an easy thing to do. I never understood why some people scream about them so much.

Yes it will go back to normal. It's just down to how people are. Look at china all back to normal in months.

Yes there is some cases but it's like normal life over there. No masks, no distancing, very little vaccination.

Just in the western world the media scares people by publishing alot of rubbish stories about it.

If there was no media coverage I bet life would be close to normal

China may not be a good example to use at the moment to be honest considering the ongoing investigation into genocide and lots of other nastiness, lying about covid figures isn't really a hard stretch if they can lie about genocide is it now?

"No is the simple answer. "

Think it's a yes from us.

People get over wars, bereavement, nuclear incidents, marriage breakups, time wasters, bad meals, sickness etc.,etc.

Some folks will succumb but the majority will look back and have different thoughts and memories.

We are hoping we can get lots of positive thoughts. Get as many positives from a negative time.

Good luck everyone.

" Will life ever go back to normality?"

No.

Unless we get a very infectious but very mild version which gives everyone a natural immunity.

We’re seemingly unwilling to scale up the health service to cope with increased demand, but folk are out of patience with all the coping strategies.

"I think I went on Wednesday I went into a few shops and no mention off wearing a mask but then when I went into the fancy shops straight away that at the door...

I saw this at the apple shop last Christmas. I had to wait to go into the shop and watched as security enforced a no mask no entry policy. A few tried I'm exempt, security asked to see their exempt cards, which nobody had, they were given a choice wear a mask or leave, they all took a mask.

Our Aldi and Tesco has a traffic light system and Co-op has masks at the door."

I work for Tesco and we are not allowed to challenge people. People just have to say they are exempt and don't have to provide proof. We aren't allowed to stop them coming in

How do we scale up the health service demands to the scale we may need with omicron?

We have limits on both doctors and equipment.

Even if we get that immunity, the next variant might mean we have to start again.

No covid in North Korea either...

You do know that Chinese people report differently to the Chinese media?

1.1bn people in China are fully vaccinated. Calling that 'very little' discredits you.
