Who’s had COVID and how bad was your cough. If it was dreadful, did anything help ease it?

I’m four days into COVID and despite feeling like death warmed up thought I’d got away without the coughing symptom, but this afternoon a little tickle started in my throat and now I’m lucky if I can get 10 seconds without a coughing fit almost to the point of throwing up.

Thanks in advance.

Feel for you brother. I was lucky as my symptoms were mild but the cough was persistent. I took lemon and honey in warm water but my symptoms as I say were mild.

If you’re in doubt or worried phone the NHS help line for advice and professional help

I didn't get the cough at all (bizarrely) but Mr KC did and he coughed pretty much incessantly for a few weeks. Our son (18 at the time) caught it at a separate time and had a cough for a couple of weeks in total too.

Hope you feel better soon.

"Hope it eases soon."

Thanks. It’s not quite to the point I’d need to phone for backup, but if this night is a difficult one due to it, I’ll see what cough syrups I can mail order.

I had a honey and lemon before bed. Might go make a pitcher of it to have at the side

Thanks again

Thanks. If it does carry on as bad as it is tonight, I think I may look into removing my throat. Seems worse when I’m lying down too, annoyingly

Oh and no, nothing eased the coughs for Mr KC or our son (to my knowledge).

See if you can prop yourself up with pillows etc or even sleep upright in a chair? The main symptom I had (other than loss of taste/smell) was exhaustion. I slept for most of a week. Also a banging headache that nothing shifted.

I found having an extra pillow at night to support my head helped with coughing.

I also used sparkling water and lemon at night which helped.

Hope you feel better soon! X

3 weeks later I still have a cough, although it's better than it was. Am still struggling to breath sometimes as I have asthma. Other half is pretty much better apart from a little annoying cough. Hope you feel better soon OP.
