Appointment booked.
Turn up on time and find a queue of around 30 people. You get to front but time is now past your appointment. Feeling apprehensive the lady booking people in doesn't even have your name but tells you to move on forward. Then you hear a shout 'Get your arms ready'.
You are sent into a room to get the Jab but they have no record of your previous vaccine status and to make matters worse they offer you the other vaccine to the two doses you had before

Booked my Appointment:
Arrived only 5 mins early because we had a text about inclement weather and bring a big coat and gloves because it's cold outside.
It was busy, very very busy, maybe 150 people or more, arriving and leaving all the time.
Marshalling staff outside couldn't have been more helpful and cheerful even with the snow falling on their heads.
Arrived at the front of the Queue and a very lovely quietly spoken Receptionist asked for my name etc then directed me to wait outside a numbered room a little way down a hallway. 2 mins later I was in, and a polite young man asked my name again - matched my details - made a computer entry - then a volunteer jabbed me.
All in all 15 mins of my day. I arrived feeling human and I left feeling human.
Yes. I am glad to have had my Booster jab. |

I had my booster on Sunday. I knew it would be the opposite to what I had previously.
I have been to the doctor today to be checked over as I have my lymph nodes in my neck and under my arm swell up dramatically.
The doctor said I had a great reaction, her words not mine. And that the swelling would go away in 7 day, is it painful, yes, is it worth it, hell yes. If it protects me and my loved ones I'd have it 20 times more |

yes. We can echo this. Just got home from having our moderna booster jab. Brilliantly organised. We are so grateful to live in a time and place that this is readily and freely available. |

As they are just using Pfizer or Modrrna as the booster, it could vary from the first doses but the evidence shows that you get a really strong immune response from them 
So I'd have the jab and be grateful of the extra protection.
It's tough for the teams under pressure but I think the conditions in the flu pandemic a 100 years ago were probably far worse. |

I am not against taking the booster, its why I booked an appointment.
The reason I posted the scenario was for people to understand how uneasy this particular vaccination centre made me feel. Reading other posts I can see many of you have had a better experience.
Would you insist the booster shot was the same vaccine as the first 2 doses? |

Appointment booked...turned up on time so only a couple of people ahead of me. System checked to make sure I was booked in...identity checked using NHS number includingdate of last vaccination. Screening questions asked and vaccine being administered explained fully. Sat down for jab and identity questions and date of last vaccination checked again. Took all of 2 seconds to administer the vaccine and then a 15 minute wait before I left. Extremely well organised. |

Tbh this sounds dubious or a case of gross negligence, we've both been involved with the vaccination process for nearly 9 months in a voluntary none clinical role and a vaccinator/health care professional, clinical site lead role..
Unless it's established on the system that at least there's a record of the second dose the booster shouldn't have been given ..
It's likely there was a misunderstanding name wise or NHS number initially and then once they rectified it they went ahead..

Had our boosters yesterday. The clinician said that if you had the AZ vacc originally you would get Moderna or Pfizer. But if you had Pfizer originally you will get pfizer for your booster. Trials show these combinations have the best outcome. |

A family member has had exactly the same thing & it turned out to be hodgkins lymphoma, he's on chemo & it started as a lump on his neck/shoulder. Please get it checked. |

I did walk out.
I know many others wouldn't.
The day after this happened a friend who had two AZ as initial jabs chose differently and took the Pfizer.
He has been in hospital since the evening of taking the booster. However the hospital say it's for a different reason and not linked with him taking the booster.
It can be a coincidence but just makes you wonder. |

I had the Astra jab so I’m happy to accept what will be on offer as they are not offering that as a booster I believe.
Got mine booked in at a small pharmacy. Be interesting to see how they manage it. |

So, it's been over 2 weeks since I walked out of the vaccination centre.

I got a booster and a flu jab at the same time. I feel, and I am, far safer as a result and apart from a few hours of aches from the double hit I have had no side effects at all. |

Others could have used those appointments."
Yeah right. So if you make an appointment for something and the so called professionals can’t seem to agree on something you query or abate your reasons for concern, by your logic said person should’ve just sucked it up and took it anyway. |

I went to a walk in centre. It was a 2 hour queue. Not a problem.
Thought I would confirm with the staff again.
Showed my vaccine status letter which confirmed double dose of AZ.
Then asked the question 'Will I be getting the AZ as a booster' ?
'No, we only offer the Pfizer here'
Walked away!
So NHS helpline has now misguided me as well as the GP. |

No where is offering AZ as the booster.
Practices and walk in centres aren’t even able to order this if they wanted too.

The nhs is prioritising what it has too.
Just like GP practices being told (last night at the same time as the public) they have to deliver many millions more vaccines. It’s not optional. They aren’t choosing to do vax clinics over other work. |

If they had jabbed me with a Pfizer for my first dose this would never be a problem.
Arm out, needle in. Now go away and sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes.
Only found out it was AZ when I got home and checked the card.
This at the time when AZ was getting bad press.
Then we were told you must have the same as second dose, so no choice but to have AZ. AZ will be offered as booster when it's your time to take it.
Now it doesn't matter what you take as long as we stick that needle in your arm.
Honestly, trying to follow the rules and keep others and myself safe but it's all beginning to sound ridiculous. |

The reason as far as I know for having either Pfizer or Moderna is they are mRNA and mixing that with AZ gives better protection.
I have no qualification, it is what I was told when I went for my booster and I just googled it to get the info for you. Maybe it would help talking to a health professional such as your doctor to help put your mind at rest or help you get the AZ? |

I got the info off gov website as well as GP and NHS line. They all told me this particular centre offer AZ and would not be a problem.
I will be taking this up with my GP. I have a feeling he fobbed me off and could have done more to support my concern.

I understand your concerns, I was confused when advice was have the same 2nd dose as 1st, for the booster then to be different. I think more could have been done to communicate the why.
Hopefully your GP will be able to do whats best for you |
