Country Closing for Christmas...
Jump to: Newest in thread
You planned this OP? Or you've had s stockpile of meets ready, before it happens?
I read yesterday that there were 2 known people with the new variant, so I assume that could be 100 or so, based on no scientific principles, just that the number is potentially rather larger.
It's great that some flights are now stopped and I hope that we haven't cut border force staff too much with austerity etc, to be able to find travellers who may try to evade the bans. |

At least some restrictionss can help to suppress infection levels . I'm hoping you've got some meets in the bag, just in case |

Would you be supportive if you received no furlough/benefits/money from the government & no money from your employer (holiday pay used if you have any?) |

He doesn't say if he is supportive to a lockdown yet" . The way I see it let’s wait and see if there is going to be a lockdown it’s still early days. I don’t think a lot of people would be supportive of a lockdown if it meant they had to go with out salaries or benefits and as for furlough will the government do it again at 80 % personally I would be surprised if they did.As I work for DWP I know that I and my colleagues can WFH or go into the office so I personally wouldn’t be effected but that doesn’t mean that I want to see anyone else suffering and going without. |

Sorry but the comments below are certainly not articles being banded around in the News!

Before we're all locked up again for the winter.

You say full lock down part 3.
But let's be honest it was only the first one that was an actual lockdown.
The rest was just lockdown lite.
But if a lockdown is needed to reduce the rise of infection then so be it.
Due to the mild weather we haven't seen the full effect of winter on the NHS most hospitals are just treading water at the moment a huge rise in infections and a sudden influx of flu case's would bring the hospitals to try their already buckling knees.
So if a planned lockdown is needed then I for one will be happy to follow the guidelines again. |

Shut the country down for 2 weeks...
Freeze all bills.
Essentially putting uk in snooze..
Eradicate all virus.
Only emergency services and essential trades
Traveller's to do as they are by staying in isolation for 10 days.
No human contact.. no spread..
My opinion.
Not all will agree naturally |

"Come on this government planning anything REALLY
This - the cynics give this government too much credit that they know what the fook they are doing! "
Exactly and as I have said to a few conspiracy theorists , to what end , what does the government set to gain from another lockdown?
I really wouldn't trust Boris to organise and dinner party let alone a global conspiracy to make the common folk conform. |

No they didn't !!!
That lockdown as they call it was a complete joke. People EVERYWHERE!
May balls things up for a bit, but we're in the 3rd fkin year now, and many many more to come no doubt.
Everyone stays indoors. No work nothing.
Put the country in freeze.
That is the ONLY way a virus will be eradicated.
NO New Hosts. THE END.
Like taking fuel from a fire.
Simple procedure. |

It's lined up to happen... Announcing a assessment of the situation a week before Xmas tells us everything we need to know.
The way this government acts tells us a story too. Deny daily that Xmas will be affected, then shut it down days before Xmas... They did this last year... Or doesn't anyone remember?

Over 32% of working folk were designated as essential workers during the lockdowns. FACT
You cannot control this type of virus unless 100% of people stayed home.
Which would then kill ten times more people than the virus.
Then you would have to keep all borders 100% closed. Forever.
The idea cannot work. |

I wasn't Christmas last year, they let it run through, allowed families to mix and then the kids back into school for one day in January to mix it up some more.
Only then, did they realise they screwed up again at a cost of the loss of life to families. It was so out of control (although few actually stayed home) it took weeks to drop rates down.
This is exactly what we are walking into again. Shut pubs, clubs and schools 2 weeks early, masks and 2 metre and we're in with a chance.
Otherwise, it's LD3 as said earlier.

Plenty of places were fully locked down for Xmas. Some even went fom Tier 2 to a Full lock down instantly the day before Xmas Eve, completely ruining plans.
Most families will not comply again. |

What planet are you on no one from any government or science crew nor vast majority of people thonk it would be eradicated.
Minimised yes if folk get a get jabbed. Simple really also look at measles mumps german measles etc none are eradicated but due to mass vaccinated there are very few cases its not rocket science.
The very best that can happen re covid is to get to just to get 2 injection per year its long way off if that could happen. |

The difference between this Christmas and last Christmas, is the vaccine.
We have caught this new variant early, and its still being assessed by the scientists. The quick action on border controls will lessen any impact on this country.
If people use common sense as per masks and vaccines, then there will be no lockdown. |

Probably an indication we should all be a bit more careful over the next few weeks. Try to keep distance while you can. And hopefully another one won't be necessary.
No doubt they'll be people who just ignore and carry on and then moan if more restrictions are put in place. |

Hopefully if people take precautions now it will keep it under control, however you would need people to actually want to take precautions and there seems a lot of people who think their civil liberties are being restricted by using a small thing like a mask so it looks grim at the minute. |

People don't have to agree with him, but some have mentioned concerns of more restrictions if it goes pear shaped, there is no harm in being realistic.
If people start panic buying after reading a post on the virus forum of a swinging site they must be deluded. |

Covid...not worried, had both jabs.
Supercold? God that was bad, 6 boxes of medication and a month to get over it.
Flu? Had my jab, tender left arm that's all.
I'm only worried about the cold as that's the one that has no vaccine...if only. |
