Knowledgeable folks of fab... I had jabs 1 and 2 fine... For reasons I can't really explain logically I'm concerned about no 3. Perhaps because I know of a couple of rather nasty individual circumstances (one was a stroke).. Which may not have been linked at all... But but but still... Anyway hence a bit of anxiety... My local 3rd jab centre is offering a choice.. Pfizer or moderna....I know little about either to make an informed choice... But is one more effective than the other? Is one safer than another and especially regarding clotting (which is the little thing at the back of my mind). Why ask here? Because we have some knowledgable folks here and we are amongst friends. Any constructive thoughts welcomed. |

Most practically, there's a lot more Pfizer around.
I'd find out if the Moderna vaccine is the standard dose or a half dose (it's a half dose in the US, if it's a booster). The original Moderna dose is much higher than the Pfizer dose, which may mean higher risk (although still low overall). |

Modern has not been used much in the uk yet but Pfizer has been well used with very few major reactions.
If it was me I'd go for Pfizer but I had that for all 3 of mine. This is not a decision anyone can make for you. Do some reading online from reputable sources not here or Facebook etc. |

"I had both jabs astra zeneca. But apparently they are only offering phizer or moderna. I'm not prepared to mix and match "
Mixing has been well researched now and has actually shown a better immune response than having the same vaccine for all 3 doses. |

None of them have been well researched. Only very short term monitoring of effects and effectiveness.
The Covid pill will soon be on the market. Pfizer and Merck have pills to treat Covid that is supposed to stop severe illness and hospitalisation.
But that’s what the vaccine was supposed to do.
If the vaccine was a car I wouldn’t be buying another one. But each to their own |

I was diagnosed last week with a very large blood clot in my lung straining my heart. Further blood clots in my leg. I know two other guys local to me that suffered clots after the AZ jabs.
On the day I was in hospital I received the text inviting me for a booster. I am on blood thinning drugs and antibiotics so they probably wouldn’t jab me just now. However, they can fuck off! |

These pills are supposed to cut death and hospitalisations by about half. Obviously all the vaccine are more efficient than that. OP ask your doctor for advise. When it comes to strokes you are much more likely to have one from catching covid than from any of the vaccines. |

I have seen your posts before. You seem to be good at cutting through the utter crap from other people. Well done - keep it up. |

That's the trouble my gp surgery are truly awful. I got the info from my pharmacist who did my flu jab this week. I just thought I'd ask here as despite the heated debates there are clearly some well motivated and well informed folks. I'm leaning towards Pfizer because of its greater volume and duration |

The real problem is the government and pharmaceutical companies will not just come out and be straight up with information. They chop and change from day to day. Even saying the complete opposite to what they said a short time beforehand. So we all know politicians can not be trusted. As for profit driven pharmaceutical companies ??.
That’s why we depend on regulatory bodies as the referee and even those like the CDC and EMA have been very unclear on everything. Are they approved yes no well sort of but not really but for emergency use. Oh yes that’s clear. And the shadiest deal done is absolving the pharmaceutical companies of any liability arising from any side effects / adverse reactions. I wouldn’t buy a car under those conditions ??.
A bit of honesty would be refreshing.
And might build a bit of trust.
It’s like the figures the release of people in hospitals “with” Covid as opposed to what were they admitted for. Was it a broken leg, appendicitis, etc just because they tested positive on a PCR test later then they count that as a Covid patient.
As for the lunacy of putting a murder victim that was shot down as a Covid death because his dead body tested positive for Covid. Oh God give me strength.
The old thing of lies, damn lies and statistics rears its head.
Ok rant over, carry on with your day.
I feel much better now after that.
Is having a daily rant classed as a therapeutic treatment, if not it should be. Ha ha |

Good points. Have you read about the whistleblower who has revealed that one of the pfizer trial centres in the US falsified data. I wouldn't be surprised if this was just the tip of the iceberg. |

OP personally I’m really happy to have Pfizer jab. I had 2 jabs while pregnant, the last one at 37 weeks pregnant and I had a very high blood clot risk then and now. I would still go ahead and have Pfizer boosters as often as needed. I wouldn’t have a AZ. I don’t know enough about moderna |

I had the az for my first two, and like you I was worried. But over 2 months later and all good |

When did you have your jabs??
Clots from vaccines normally occur withing the first few days not weeks or months later. |

Well quite... I know one... And it may not be linked... But it may be... And if it works like a duck and quacks like a duck... I know "normally" this doesn't happen... Normally car crashed don't happen... And yet they still happen. Its just enough to make me a bit anxious. Hence the original question. |

For what it’s worth, from a good friend who is an intensive care doctor.
1. The vast, vast majority of cases in ICU at the moment are unvaccinated. Vaccinated patients very rarely get sick enough to need ICU, and usually survive if they do go there.
2. The early data for booster jabs came out this week and is simply stunning. Prevents about 90% of infections that double vaccinated people would get, let alone compared to unvaccinated.
3. Pfizer/Moderna has a negligible risk of myocarditis.
4. AZN has a very small risk of clots.
5. The risk of getting a clot, or cardiac problems, is massive if you get Covid. It far, far outweighs the risk of vaccination.
6. We are all going to come into contact with Covid - Delta is too spreadable not to. My friend, and all who he works with in ICU, have had their boosters.
Clearly everyone can make up their own minds. But for me I’m getting boosted.

Thanks Doc" dont need to be a doctor. The reports on the clots I took very seriously as my mum died from blood clots and I'd had both my jabs as AZ. So was more than a little worried. So finding out that if I was going to have issues with blood clots it would have happened in a short period of having had the vaccines it was a relief. Also when looking at the actual figures it showed that the pill I'd be taking all my life and flying were a much higher risk of developing a.blood clot. |

I had Az for my first and second vaccine but then had phizer for my booster last week. It knocked me for six for a few days and I had nausea really bad. When I had my other jabs I just got a headache and slept most of the day and felt fine the next day.
I didn’t really think about which one I was having for any of them as there’s a lot more risk in my normal everyday medication. |

Having been hospitalised just over a year ago with Covid where in all honesty I thought I was a goner before I went to Hospital. I would not wish Covid on my worst enemy and I have a few of those. I had my jabs as soon as I could and will be getting the booster as soon as its offered.
The statistics are clear on current hospitalisations the vast majority of people having to go to hospital are unvaccinated and the same for deaths.
The majority of people I know who have caught Covid after being jabbed recover much quicker including 2 people who have had it a second time after being jabbed.
The small chance of having a reation and being ill do not compare with catching the bastard thing and being ill.
We have all heard the horror stories of a few people having a reaction but it is miniscule compared to the over a billion successful vaccinnations.
Sorry for the length of this message but its important.
Vaccines save lives. The proof is in tbe puddding. Small Pox, Polio, TB, Measles, Rubella and controversially Covid.
Give yourself tbe best chance and get the jab |
