Vaccine Passports & Boosters

Now that we see other countries introducing Vaccine Passports around the world, do you think they will come to the England, especially now that Wales and Scotland have them?

And in relation to Boosters, just curious, who will have them and who won't.

Israel are now stating that you are unvaccinated if you don't have the booster.

So when does it stop? Or do we just keep taking boosters?

I had my Booster today, I think it is misleading to name the 3rd jab a booster, just like you would not say that about the yearly flu jab, although, I absolutly accept we are discussing two seperate viruses. Putting labels helps to simplify but also dilutes the magnitude of what needs to be done (if you choose), to have some resistance to a virus that is not going away in my life-time in any event.

I think it's wise for us to each look after ourselves and others, especially as many things are minimally inconvenient.

The passports seem to operate in several ways, depending on the state that's implemented them. I can see that recent test results are a potentially good and effective inclusive tool for them but they are not standard.

The more extreme right wing of the conservative government has a lot of power and will be against passport use in England. They will push back hard, if it's discussed

Austria has 10 days of lockdown for the unvaccinated from today, apart from essential work and shopping outings. I think that's more to push vaccine take up, though.

France, Italy and elsewhere have had them and they have had reasonable vaccination levels.

I think they would be a preferable choice, before any lockdown here, if NHS burdens grow too high. But they ought to just be used based on evidence that they work well. Certainly mask use and social distancing should be brought back, if things did degrade.

Currently, numbers seem fairly level - albeit much higher than any of us would like.

I have no problem continuing to be boosted if the evidence says it's necessary.

No, he’s just aware that “choice” is not the reality when people are being coerced to take something they don’t want to, either to stay in their job, or in other countries be locked down and segregated from society.

If you look at the responses above, they appear to be freely given, and yet he pivots into some weird thing about totalitarianism.

Just because some people don't want it doesn't mean that there aren't some people who do

The people who don't want it aren't trying to stop those that do, having it. The problem is your lot coercing others into having it. How would you feel about a man telling a woman that she had to have sex with him otherwise she'd lose her job?

I felt forced to get the vaccinations so I could get out to shows and sporting events with friends. I was more than happy to work from home and not have the vaccinations.

I’m not an anti vaxxer but I am against the MHRA and the Government’s handling of pelvic mesh. There’s no point in recording side effects if they aren’t going to take action.

You support the coercion. It seems to me that a large and growing proportion of the British public would live perfectly happily if Nazi Germany had won WW2 and bought their values here. Those values seem to suit them more than a belief in the fundamental importance of liberty.

No I described it as depressing earlier. But I'm not depressed. I'm getting on with life and have been for some time. But I care as much about your health as you care about my civil liberties so we'll see who comes off worse, I'm sure there are plenty of future variants to look forward to.

You do support coercion. You support care workers losing jobs despite the shortage of staff. Whether you’re ok with the segregation in Austria I’m not sure. I hope not. The direction of travel is not pretty.

It's not about lying. It's about whether you are willing to participate in the scheme. For example, Julia Hartley-Brewer is doubled vaccinated but would not eat at any restaurant that demanded a covid pass. The unvaccinated are a pretty small group now so most businesses could ignore us and not suffer financially. Whether or not a vaccine passport scheme works depends on the choices people like you make.

That is a balanced opinion.

As for us, we do not disclose our vaccine status nor do we want to know the status of others..but we wholeheartedly disagree with vaccine passports and the exclusion and coercion of others in any form. It goes against the very principles of our society and freedoms hard won by our grandparents..we are also disgusted by clubs (such as the one we wont name near Heathrow) and employers who voluntarily state vaccinated only.

I have had two jabs. I think it should be up to the individual whether to take part in these vaccination trials/programme, I don't think it should be mandated or vaccine passports or lockdowns for unvaccinated. On the other hand, I don't know what a solution would be, but surely better research educating people rather than coerce/force to have vaccination.

Boris mentioned in his recent appearance that

‘getting 3 jabs will become an important fact and we will have to adjust our concept on what constitutes being vaccinated’

It sounds like he is saying if you don’t have a booster then you are not going to be classed as being vaccinated. Effectively you will be unvaccinated. Let’s watch this space…..

I’ve had a 3rd dose. Not the booster because of a weakened immune system. I won’t be able to get my booster for 6 months.

Does that mean according to Boris that I’m unvaccinated.

I think he was saying that more in the context of international travel rather than domestic activities. But I won’t be surprised if the goalposts shift to include domestic.

I am getting lost here between what is acceptable behaviour in a well organised society and what is coercion.

For instance if I went to rent a car would the rental company asking to see my driving licence be coercion?

If I worked for to a company that has card entry systems on its offices, would requiring me to have an entry card be coercion?

Not sure how you're comparing means words from some isolated individuals to actual government schemes that result in people losing their jobs. I notice that nobody actually wants to answer the question I asked. Just shows that you know the coercion tactics are wrong, you just agree with the ends.

Yes.

If you are not qualified to drive you can crash and kill yourself and others.

When I was with the MOD there was certainly a serious risk of death if you wandered onto restricted property.

Are you saying, in order to get a vaccine passport you need a vaccination that can kill you? Are you aware of the miniscule number of deaths related to the vaccine in Britain? https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.ons.gov.uk/2021/10/04/how-many-people-have-died-as-a-result-of-a-covid-19-vaccine/amp/

On the other hand hundreds die on the road each year. So there is some risk but surely the point is; the Government impose training and test requirements on you if you want to drive to protect you and others from death and injury on the road.

Similarly they want people to be vaccinated to prevent death and sickness in the country. I hope that clarifies my point.

Yep, people with full licences will crash and die and people with covid vaccination passports will die of covid - but in very small numbers.

I read this too, which also pointed out the booster jab needs to be added to the covid passports

In my case I had 2 jabs Jan and March so I have a passport, however my booster only shows in the app under medication, not on passport even after having it over a month ago

Those pesky cards are very easily remade and forged,so they need to sort the app to show any boosters asap,as they have already stated we lose immunity after 6 months,my passport is now out of date, but officially it's in date so very confusing

Just had my booster today. The nurse suggested that the booster won't show on the NHS app. Not sure how accurate that is?"

it's going to have to as it will be required to be fully vaccinated

"I have had noth vaccines and am waiting for my booster. But at no point have i said anyone else has to have it. I am aware people have the right to choose, just as i have thd right to choose to have it. Doesn't mean I support the covid passport or people being excluded for not having the vaccine

So if a restaurant demanded you prove you were vaccinated, would you comply?

I am getting lost here between what is acceptable behaviour in a well organised society and what is coercion.

For instance if I went to rent a car would the rental company asking to see my driving licence be coercion?

If I worked for to a company that has card entry systems on its offices, would requiring me to have an entry card be coercion?

Do driving licences or office cards present a risk of death to you?

Yes.

If you are not qualified to drive you can crash and kill yourself and others.

When I was with the MOD there was certainly a serious risk of death if you wandered onto restricted property.

So a driving licence doesn't present a death risk to you does it, you literally just argued against yourself

Oh finally you can read English. No 1,645 deaths is not miniscule and that's without getting started on all the other life changing injuries. So it's not like a driving licence, any more bad analogies this forum wants to trot out?

the vaccines are a safe way to reduce risks. I am glad the take up has been so high. Also it seems the scaremongering against vaccines is getting less common now.

"It’s saying in the paper this morning you are going to need your booster for travel

I read this too, which also pointed out the booster jab needs to be added to the covid passports

I had mine 5th oct so near your date, guy above been told when had jab today it won't be on nhs app

They need to sort it out ASAP and get it within our passports and make it show any other further boosters we take

I had to show my 3rd on that card and give a copy,to prove to work,it's not good proof to show to an airline if wanted to go away

I wouldn't go to gibraltar they are on about cancelling crimbo and discouraging people from celebrating and to wear masks even though they have 100% vaccine take up.

Quite the opposite actually. The more people that have the vaccine, the more people have bad side effects, then the higher likelihood you are to know someone first hand with the bad side effects. Furthermore, the more time passes the more likely you are to have been infected yourself. So once you have someone with natural immunity and knows someone with myocarditis, not amount of just eat or brothel vouchers is going to convince them to take the shot.

It might be that it's currently not possible until the app is updated. I'm speculating. Not sure if anyone on here has had their booster and it's showing on their app. Would be interesting to know.

The Nazis actually tried to get the Jews to leave before they did... you know. The problem was that there was a large wealth tax upon exit and not many countries wanted destitute refugees. I can imagine all the good little Nazis sat around saying "well the Jews had the choice to leave and didn't take it, so it can't be that bad here, we're just protecting ourselves from Typhus and their diseases".

I saw 2 pieces on this today, one from an NHS website which showed that there will be 4 boosters and another one from France which should there will be 8 shots.

So they don’t plan on stopping jabbing people any time soon. Not until they have zero immune system or are dead.

More likely Dr Robert Malone, the inventor of mRNA, Dr Peter McCulloch, Dr Sheree Tenpenny, Professor Delores Cahill, Dr Vernon Coleman, Dr David Martin to name but a few.

But you won’t go listening to then, easier to turn on the BBC and watch a paid for puppet scare the living daylights out of you until you go and get some poison injected into you.

If Nazi Germany had won then I would be here, except here would be part of a German empire. You realise they'd just take over the country, not execute everyone in it right? I'd love to know which fundamental aspects of facist ideology you principally disagree with (racism isn't one of them by the way).

No I'm not vaccinated, I have natural immunity so have no need for the vaccine. The risks of taking it are higher than the benefits of any additional protection it would give me. That's just hard science I'm afraid.

There are many that are vaccinated and don’t support it but it makes me wonder why those who are vaccinated and support it can’t see that this is not a good thing to be backing? Sure, be pro-vaccine but being pro-coercion of others, government threats and draconian division of society, is really fucked up in my opinion.

if the covid passport just needed you to have the vaccine then I'd agree with you but you can have the covid pass without having a vaccine, it also works if you have a recent negative rest... be it PCR or lft, or recently recovered from covid.

OK and what about when they quietly drop the LFT option after a few months of implementing it? Gosh you people are so easy to con

if they do that then I can change my opinion, although I do believe anyone that can medically get the vaccine should do. My 15 year old daughter was straight in for having hers. But that's just my personal opinion. If someone doesnt want to, then it's none of my business.

It's a bit late changing your opinion when it's already rolled out. Goodness haven't you seen enough moving goalposts in the last 19 months to realise it's just a power grab. Hopefully the vaccines become irrelevant in the next year as other treatments look more promising anyway.

"Now that we see other countries introducing Vaccine Passports around the world, do you think they will come to the England, especially now that Wales and Scotland have them?

And in relation to Boosters, just curious, who will have them and who won't.

Israel are now stating that you are unvaccinated if you don't have the booster.

So when does it stop? Or do we just keep taking boosters?"

Yes it will come to England.

Yes we will get boosters as required

not sure how something that saves life is irrelevant but yes there is some new treatments but I'm very glad to have been able to have had my vaccines.

And grateful that my daughter is now somewhat safer. As the risk from covid for her was almost a 50/50 risk of dying before the vaccine

They'll become irrelevant because there will be better options to take. Could be monoclonal antibodies, could be antiviral pills.

Not in Scotland. It’s vaccine only. And will be elsewhere eventually.

You’re right it doesn’t make sense. As healthy unvaccinated people are banned from places, but covid positive vaccinated people can go.

And yet STILL plenty of people can’t see that’s something isn’t right here.

Exactly, being vaccinated is no barrier to catching it or passing it on. Also remember that an infection may not develop until after a week from exposure.

Which makes it perplexing that the govt has removed the necessity to test or self isolate for the fully vaxxed.

Doesn't make sense anyway. What about people who can't have the vaccine due to underlying medical issues. They gonna have to just stay at home?

The vaccine is not a ‘treatment’, so it won’t become irrelevant as a result of antiviral drugs becoming available.

The vaccine will always be part of the toolbox used to combat covid.

I'd heard that the NHS app isn't set up to handle a third vaccination, so how does anyone go about proving they've had the booster?

People have been taking the flu jab every year for decades now, so the covid jab will be no different. People will still take the covid jab every year, as it has proven to be safe for the vast majority.

Antiviral drugs are not a substitute for the vaccine, so they won’t render the vaccine irrelevant.

It’s also amazing how many men with their dicks in their hand as their profile photo on a swingers site who think that people who are hesitant are wrong to be hesitant about a medical experiment but themselves fully trust and believe the paid narrative of the media that is being spoon fed by the same Government that is currently balls deep in corruption and wrong doings that they are convinced that the same Government is telling the complete truth about Covid 19… wake the fuck up!! lol

It's a bit late changing your opinion when it's already rolled out. Goodness haven't you seen enough moving goalposts in the last 19 months to realise it's just a power grab. Hopefully the vaccines become irrelevant in the next year as other treatments look more promising anyway.

“…….. Hopefully the vaccines become irrelevant in the next year as other treatments look more promising anyway….”

The vaccine is not a ‘treatment’, so it won’t become irrelevant as a result of antiviral drugs becoming available.

The vaccine will always be part of the toolbox used to combat covid.

Its protection is short lived and most people don't want to keep getting jabbed every year due to the rampant side effects. Besides I said "hopefully". Some of you have infinite demands for "safety" anyway.

People have been taking the flu jab every year for decades now, so the covid jab will be no different. People will still take the covid jab every year, as it has proven to be safe for the vast majority.

Antiviral drugs are not a substitute for the vaccine, so they won’t render the vaccine irrelevant.

I never met anyone who got myocarditis from the flu shot

myocarditis will not render the covid jab irrelevant.

Every vaccine ( including the flu jab) has side effects - nothing new.

The side effects won’t make it irrelevant.

Call it what you want. The vast majority of people refusing the covid jab had never refused a vaccine in their life before. There's a fucking reason for that. "

Blimey, the sheer ignorance is unfathomable. This was a novel virus - no-one had natural immunity. It will take years for human beings to develop their natural immunity (eg herd immunity) - the vaccines offer a short cut to avoid the consequences of natural selection. Personally, the more I read these comments the more I think, let the unvaccinated fend for themselves. Survival of the fittest can do the rest(eg those who use their brains not their emotions to understand the benefits of the vaccine)

People in the U.K. did not jump on a scale and check their weight, and then use the result to decide whether to go for the vaccine or not.

People have different reasons why they chose to take, or not take the vaccine. Those reasons vary, and you are not in a position to speak for anyone other than yourself.

Bottom line is: the majority of the adult population is vaccinated, and that’s because the majority feel that having the vaccine is relevant to protect themselves.

Well said !! we totally agree… the essence of science is the fact that it can be challenged from any angle to see that it continues to stand up… when all other debate is being censored or removed or denied open debate then we are living in a dictatorship and not a Democracy! "

The science is being censored, but not in the way you are suggesting. We have a vibrant scientific community globally than transcends national governments. If anything the reverse is true, as this government is so scared about the economy, we are not hearing enough in the media about the evolving science around the long term impact of COVID-19. I spoke with a prominent clinical researcher in the US today who said there are some really worrying signs of serious neurological issues, leading to memory loss, brain fog and reduced capacity for decision-making not dissimilar to the neuro impact of early stage dementia associated with the virus impacting previously healthy people. it's this kind of science that is being supressed as governments put money and economy before public health.

"If I've forced anyone to do anything, I'll eat my entire collection of hats

You support the coercion. It seems to me that a large and growing proportion of the British public would live perfectly happily if Nazi Germany had won WW2 and bought their values here. Those values seem to suit them more than a belief in the fundamental importance of liberty.

Nothing is more liberating than having your health. I had my booster today, and instantly feel safer, freer and more liberated to be able to go to a pub, a concert, live my life. Comments comparing to Nazi Germany are so dramatic as bordering on insane - it's like a child having a temper tantrum because they don't like being told what to do! True individual liberty only exists within the context of community.

The current metrics suggest a less than 1% mortality from acute infection and fair enough it’s a relatively low risk of death if you are not obese and athletic.

However the long term risks of infection pose a far greater risk to all ages such as mild

Memory loss, reduced grey matter of the brain and formation of Lewy bodies brain tissue. These are seen as pre cursors of neurological disease later in life in other neurodegenerative conditions. Although it may take years for this to show there are examples of this happening before with viruses.

The Spanish flu resulted in a big surge of Parkinson’s disease in the 1930’s .

So whilst I agree the risk to acute death may seem tempting to say the risk is low in the short term- Covid is a neurotrophic virus and is an insidious little shit of a pathogen.

Just look at the long term outcomes of SARS1 patients that survived- many had neurological issues.

I’d take the vaccine over mild memory loss any day.

Yes, they are unhealthy and didn't have natural immunity and therefore needed it

Blimey, the sheer ignorance is unfathomable. This was a novel virus - no-one had natural immunity. "People who support coercion are obviously vaccinated. If I were vaccinated, I still wouldn’t support coercion.

Gosh you people are so easy to con if they do that then I can change my opinion, although I do believe anyone that can medically get the vaccine should do.

“…….. Hopefully the vaccines become irrelevant in the next year as other treatments look more promising anyway….”

————————————

Really... read this - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6786665/"

Yes really, what is it with the reading comprehension of people on this site

Nah, they took it because it was relevant to protect themselves by reducing their chances from becoming seriously ill from Covid.

What percentage of people in the UK are a healthy weight?

People in the U.K. did not jump on a scale and check their weight, and then use the result to decide whether to go for the vaccine or not.

People have different reasons why they chose to take, or not take the vaccine. Those reasons vary, and you are not in a position to speak for anyone other than yourself.

Bottom line is: the majority of the adult population is vaccinated, and that’s because the majority feel that having the vaccine is relevant to protect themselves. "

Well said !! we totally agree… the essence of science is the fact that it can be challenged from any angle to see that it continues to stand up… when all other debate is being censored or removed or denied open debate then we are living in a dictatorship and not a Democracy!

What alternative universe do you live in!? The government couldn't give two shots about the economy. It fell 9.8% last year ffs. They are busy plundering it, not trying to save it. Most of you have brain fog in 2019, total crap.

More importantly, we should ask where is it going ( evolving). It’s not the mutations ( new variants ) we should be worried about it’s recombination with other coronavirus’s. Covid has already recombined with other sub lineages - we should be doing more to suppress it.

Those questions are interlinked though. A virus entirely found in nature will likely mutate differently to one that already evolved certain characteristics in a lab.

Body weight has nothing to do with the evidence I provided to prove that your statement holds no water.

Everyone should look at Israel who have been light years ahead with the third dose. Fourth consecutive day of zero deaths from Covid.

It’s a three shot course and it works and it’s part of the pathway back to a normal life.

"It’s amazing how so many vaccine hesitant people will believe “Bob from Basildon” on Facebook rather than people who have spent their whole lives studying medicine

Oh, and just for the record I know 3 people that had the jab, 2 now dead within days and one permanently cabbaged and wheelchair bound with brain damage. "

And I know someone who works for TFL, and last year pre-vaccine they lost around 100 members of staff to Covid

Speaking to a critical care nurse and she is caring for some very sick, unvaccinated, 20's to 30's years old, I hope you keep well.

I'd say a driving licence does and depending on where you work, so does an entry code or pass to the workplace can too.

I think you've used poor examples to illustrate your point.

Survival rate is not the same as recovery rate.

Not all that survive go on to make a full recovery, and that applies to all age groups.

Also, there are thousands who survive, but were hospitalised - using up hospital beds and creating longer waiting lists for those seeking other treatment.

That’s correct- that’s the mortality rate- it’s the morbidity rate that is worrying and we may not know it’s true rate for years. I would rather not be a Covid morbidity statistic and get vaccinated.

"It’s amazing how so many vaccine hesitant people will believe “Bob from Basildon” on Facebook rather than people who have spent their whole lives studying medicine"

If you’ve been the victim of medical negligence then maybe you too would be reluctant to believe the government and the medical evidence to show that it’s ‘safe’. The MHRA don’t act on the Yellow Card system and ignore the issues of 1000’s of women.

Yes, happily.

I'd also happily carry an ID card with all my medical, home, family, pay, tax details stored,I'm not that important, just have details like 95% of Joe Public.

My husband has had a stamped vaccine card for years, needs it to enter countries for work.

Never been an issue.

Using recorded covid cases divided by deaths. It's never been 99.7% that was the figure bandied round social media. It's currently about 98.5% and dropping as more younger people catch it and vaccines work and treatments get better. It was less than 90% at the very beginning of the pandemic, that was down to lack of knowledge, lack of asymptomatic testing and older people in the main catching it. It dropped to 97% once more testing was put in place and remained around 97%, dropping slowly, until the vaccines were rolled out properly.

Very true. Our forefathers are probably spinning in their graves right now. The sacrifice they made for us and we’re throwing it away like it means nothing.

You see it everywhere, a lot of people like facism. I'm not saying they like all the acts facist governments did, but the basic idea of facism they do like and they like it more than liberal democracy. "

People are very happy to give up freedoms if it gives them the illusion of safety

Current stats show 1.47% of people have died after catching covid in Uk. If that percentage is put on to the whole population of the Uk (everyone catching it ) 988000 will die from it . Which is the population of Birmingham

That figure is heavily skewed because there was fuck all testing in the first wave. Because the government decided not to follow its own pandemic preparation plans.

We probably agree on more than you think, but draw different inferences. My biggest gripe with the whole thing is the lack of accountability. We pay hundreds of thousands of people well over 6x the average salary to make decisions and yet they are never held accountable for them.

Since I don't have the option to withhold my portion of the taxes, I go with the civil disobedience option instead. It's not just about covid. I've already lived through ~5 'once in a lifetime' crisis that 'nobody saw coming' so conveniently nobody was held accountable. I could never get away with that job performance in my career so I expect more from people in the public sector.

let’s say they missed 2 million people still puts it at 1.2% 800,000 deaths

Vaccine has helped to lower the deaths figure so it will be skewed higher now on the side of survival

Deaths isn't really a good metric for a disease that primarily, not exclusively, affects people nearer the end of their life. Lost life expectancy (calculated at 5 years old) would give a measure that would be better to base public policy on. The difference in total deaths between 2021 and 2020 so far isn't statistically significantly different, meaning the measures have primarily moved deaths, rather than saved them.

144,000 deaths with covid, not from. A lot of people got infected in hospital when they were already ill with something else.

The total deaths at the the start of this year heavily out weigh the deaths at the start of 2020. An extra 37,000 in the first 3 months . Jan to March 5th 2020 106357, Jan to March 5th 2021 143478 . Deaths from April 2021 to now are significantly lower. Which balances out the total for the years. Since the vaccine started to be effective you can see total deaths dropping. And are now averaging just slightly higher per month than the 5 year average

We don't have them in Wales. We have a Covid pass but you can take a lateral flow, register it with the NHS and use that, even if you are not vaccinated.
