You can book online (or call the hotline) without waiting to be offered the booster. Actually, I managed to book my appointment for the booster shot just now (Sunday at 23:00).
Good luck.

“From Monday 8 November 2021 you'll be able to pre-book an appointment for a booster dose if you're eligible and it's been at least 152 days (5 months) since your 2nd dose.
The appointments you'll be offered will still be from 182 days (6 months) after your 2nd dose.” |

It's good news, as many people need to plan transport etc, in advance, so having the booster scheduled beforehand for around the 6 months date is helpful.
If you're over the 6 months date, you can use a walkin centre, which I did on Friday. Ideally, everyone gets a location that's very convenient for them to use. Pre-booking will make the whole system help to achieve this |
