Masks in public, vaccination passes to go to theme parks and eat out. Ten times fewer cases than the UK. No dickheads complaining.

I'm recently back from Bulgaria, no mask wearing, even on trains and buses, seems a lot of resistance to the vaccine. Been on the green list most of the time. I had no problems there.
I'm not arguing about the merits of wearing masks but just putting it out for a balanced viewpoint |

I've been to Greece, Spain and most recently Hungary since the start of the pandemic.
Controls at their airports were taken seriously whereas I just needed to scan my passport to get into the UK with no further checks.
Many European countries are well ahead of us with vaccinations now and as previously stated mask wearing and venue passporting.
Guess some of that explains why we're allowing so many of our population to die of covid in comparison. |

I live in Italy and the first outbreak was so devastating in terms of death rates that public health needs were adopted very quickly and with no complaints, and it’s stayed that way, everyone just gets on with it. |

There has been a lot of unrest in Italy about the current restrictions.
Dickhead are people that see a tiny proportion of what goes on in a country and come back home and use it as ammunition to be arrogant on a swingers forum  |

You are lucky you did not get covid. They are at the very bottom of the vaccination rate in Europe, with around 20% of the adult population .
This situation is likely to bite the Bulgarians very soon.

Late on Tuesday, interim Health Minister Stoicho Katsarov said the situation at hospitals was critical and appealed to Bulgarians to observe the restrictions. Out of 700 intensive care beds across the country, 608 are occupied.
"If these measures do not work, the only option left will be a full lockdown and a halt of economic life," Katsarov said.

He’s not “lucky he didn’t get covid”. That’s a ridiculous exaggeration.

People who are not afraid or are ignorant of the covid dangers would notbbother to test in the first place. Therefore, not a lot of cases of people being tested positive. There may be only 4,500 cases a day but the actual number of people who are positive is a multiple of that. Also, not wearing masks and no social distancing etc can only make things worse.
They were lucky because they were not hit hard by covid like the Italians and the Spaniards. So a lot Bulgarians think covid is no big deal. And this is why so few have been vaccinated. |

I assume your thoughts on being vaccinated is an assumption? My understanding is there are different reasons. |

I do not understand what you are trying to say. You traveled to a country where the majority of the population do not take covid seriously, are not vaccinated and are not taking precautions. Their 20% vaccination rate is telling. I do not even have to compare them to other countries. They are miles behind. Winter is coming and it will not be easy there. |

Been in Budapest recently, it's absolutely great feeling, no signs of stupid masks, life is completely normal, definitely recommended for recharge batteries and take a rest from covid drama |

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I live in Italy, and the vast majority of everyday life here is not in a state of unrest! But of course that doesn’t sell newspapers, so thank you for reading up on things and explaining to me how things are in the country I live in, and imagining that it’s others that are arrogant. |

it's the tests that are causing me the angst. I tend to only go for 3 nights max... so not sure about getting the tests done in time. |

Denmark had the covid pass earlier . It just happened that they had phased it out by the time you got there.
In fact Denmark was the first country in Europe to introduce the covid pass way back in April 2021 this year.
The Danes accepted the pass quickly as it offered a quick path out of lockdown. The pass was also agreed upon across all parliamentary parties, (even the opposition), with the promise that it would only be used for a finite time. So, there was very little opposition from politicians and the public regarding the pass.
They have since phased out the pass last month ( in September ) as a result of high uptake of the vaccine.
Up to 76% of over-12s are fully vaccinated and a third booster is being rolled out.
In Europe, Denmark has the highest percentage of total population who have received full dose vaccination.
Due to the high uptake in vaccination, the Danish health authorities have declared that the virus is "no longer a critical threat to society" due to a low incidence of severe disease and death. They have now downgraded Covid-19 to a no longer "socially critical" disease.
Covid is currently not a serious threat in Denmark because :
1. of The successful vaccine rollout, and experts have pointed to high levels of trust in authorities from the public.
2. There is also a strong sense of social responsibility and accountability in Danish society. Both the politicians and the pubic have cooperated very well in bringing down cases, hospitalisations, and deaths.
So... in a scenario where there is high vaccine uptake, and a high level of social responsibility within society; there is less need for government-imposed restrictions.

We just had a 'freedom' day, had the conservative government throw their masks off in public, whilst infection levels have been climbing as we enter the most dangerous season.  . to be fair I was in Italy last August and found the way they were handling it much better than at home. Everyone was wearing their masks without complaints. They checked my paperwork upon landing and before letting me through. Yet when I flew home to Manchester airport... they didnt check anything except my passport. And we were queuing with a flight that had come back from a country that was meant to be quarantining... they just asked us which flight we had been on. Didnt check x

My sister lives in Milan. She says people just follow the advice and go about their day. Masks in public, vaccination passports small price to pay and her 18 year old is finally out mixing with friends after nearly two years. |

Further checks were not needed to get back into the U.K. as the passenger locator form is linked to your passport. If flagged up as not completed then they do further checks. I queried it when I returned to U.K. recently |

On the whole there's a lot of unrest & objection all over the world, unbelievable how many go against a few simple requests that could help prevent the spread.
Wonder how most of them would feel if they went into surgery at a hospital & the surgeons & nurses were unmasked with no gloves or surgical gowns on!  |

I've been wearing the same masks I wear are work 99% of the time. I leave it on till I have to remove it properly. Then dispose of it.
And to be fair any covering is better than no covering x |

The population although smaller in number will still congregate in towns and cities, very much a like for like in that sense. Take up of masks in major cities in Scotland and Wales has been on the decline, and pretty much will mirror England I would imagine as the time goes by. I do expect numbers to rise significantly as they did in England, and I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see England cases start to stabilise. All guess work but lets see |

I wasn't actually making a point about the type or quality of mask or garment but more the fact of wearing any form of protection. Also the fact with all the other issues in the world, the stink some kick up over wearing a mask is quite pathetic.
Basically end of the day I know there's enough twats out there who no doubt don't give a shit, feel immune & will do as they please regardless. Unfortunately this applies to life in general not just the pandemic. Oh well just keep to your side of the street please!  |

It appears the mainstream media has successfully brainwashed too many people into believing that a piece of material will save them from this killer virus
The science offers little to no evidence of it being the case
And I’ve said it before, but if you can get infected and pass it on after being vaccinated, what is the point of a vaccine passport?? If you aren’t vaccinated don’t put yourself in a position where you feel vulnerable

It all takes a lot of understanding for a simple country boy to take in, I am sure it is a highly infectious virus and if these countries are mixing normally they must be spreading it around. At a local funeral a few weeks ago attended by at least 200, covid cases went wild after a few days it is said at least 70 have had it since, I have spoken to at least 20 who had it as a consequence most would be double jabbed, most were not too poorly a few were. I don't think any were hospitalised and some were quite elderly. One or two have said they are relieved to have had it and got over it. I suppose a wedding or a funeral is slightly different to other mass gatherings in as much as a lot of folks would go around chatting to each other during the event. Most folks have come to the conclusion we have to carry on and hope for the best. |
