Has this pandemic brought the best in you?

The reason for this question is this article

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/sep/09/i-found-myself-how-covid-pandemic-brought-out-the-best-in-people

Personally, I brought (after some persuasion - and I was not even a facebook person) my closest group of friends together on a Facebook messenger group and we keep in touch and exchange views, articles etc about the pandemic and everything else in the news. Not all of us are sharing the same views but I think overall it is a positive thing during these challenging times.

I personally don't think the Pandemic has changed me in the slightest.

It has changed my view of some people, people who I thought were intelligent but continue to promote nonsense from Facebook about deadly vaccines, 5G, and Global Resets.

I think it's brought the best and the worst out in me. Depends on how I'm feeling.

I feel like I've made a difference, however small.

Nope I can honestly say there is some people I now just absolutely detest and have cut other totally out of my life.

I would t say that it’s brought the best out in me.

Was starting to get cabin fever working from home and spending far too much time on Fab Forums and Facebook.

Now back to work, apart from being on holiday at present.

It seems that normality has entered our lives again.

Using work phones means no FAB or Facebook for about 10 hours a day, never thought I'd say what a great thing to happen.

Can't say I've noticed or felt any different pre-covid or during the pandemic. And don't expect to feel any different when it all ends eventually, probably in about 4-5 years time.

The best in me - got to know neighbours better, provided help for those vulnerable who can’t get to shops (get them shopping etc), whatsapp group for the street in case anyone needs help.

The worst in me - spent waaay too much time online reading too much, getting angry on social media at the blinkered myopic tribalism, and being completely disappointed and frustrated in the lack of common sense people in the UK display.

This pandemic has revealed my worse fear.

People who hold power who can’t think rationally or be reasoned with. They have their bias and even Science won’t change their mind.

As a unvaccinated individual I look hard at myself to see if I am the unreasonable person I fear (classic projection Check). The truth is there is so much we can’t be sure of and there is a lot of manipulation from all directions and an insane amount of money to be made. Money is power and power corrupts. This seems to have been forgotten By the majority hence Bringing out the worse In people (obedience to corruption). History shows how that can end.

Any big change to the status quo will bring out people's more natural instincts.

For some that is about helping others and pulling together as a group.

For others it will be to lash out and attack.

So some will help neighbours go shopping for food or volunteer time to support their community.

Others will stick razor blades in posters and scream at every one and everything.

Thankfully those with the less community based approach tend to be few in number.

Oh Christ.

How long for the razor blade slashing stage to kick in.

Think normality is kicking back in for us.

Getting a bit bored with the virus forum and looking more into meets, clubs and holiday forums, always a good sign.

Keep away from razors for a few weeks more.

The best in people in some cases, yes, the old guy doing the walking to raise for the NHS was good... But it also showed at the same time how fucking stupid humans are, I mean, there's been pandemics before, there's always some fucking thing circling to take us out and yet, we are not prepared for any of it and if we did start preparing for these events some wing nut would kick off a theory about why we're building more hospitals etc.

It did show however that when humans are all backs against the wall, we really will come together... And start fucking swinging our handbags at each other. If there ever is an alien invasion, they won't have to do much, hopefully they'll like popcorn, it'll come in handy while we fight ourselves into heart attacks over who believes they are here and who doesn't.

Oh, but, it has shown that we have the means of getting clear guidance and information really quickly... Whoops, no, sorry, we had a bunch of floppy haired cunts telling us this then that then this again, no, fucking back to that, whilst all the time they're having an absolute hoot and getting caught shagging the secretary...

The one thing this pandemic has taught me is every cunt is stupid as fuck, but thinks they are the enlightened one because they can spew shit they've read out...

I learned to appreciate what I have and the impact of loneliness. What I can do to help others with the latter around work and other commitments is currently a work in progress x

Let me get this right.

Are you saying posts on these many forums, including the famous, informative and educational virus forum, is not the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Not written by senior regs or consultants, if not, why not?

I'm seriously worried now as I've used most of the information for various clinical trials.

No most people have achieved something or done something they’re proud of. I worked as normal and found my self with the worst stress and anxiety.

It’s changed me radically , my views, my actions, priorities, my work. This is how we survive , learn, develop, adapt.

Just a tiny example I’ve not had COVID or any type of cold/flu because I’m super aware now that bugs live on shared hard surfaces like hand rails on the metro , ATMs, card machines etc and infect you through your own hands touching your face. I knew this before COVID, since primary school, but my behaviour only adapted because of COVID

In my happy place

Now work from home and have very little interaction with people face to face.

No choice in the matter. On a good day it's great. On a low day it's soul destroying.

Social life has vanished.

Being single is bloody hard sometimes.

In my OPINION it's brought out the absolute worst in a great number of people on fab which in my OPINION should have been stopped as this should be a place of escaping reality. There are more than enough social media sites that can be used to be rude and controlling of others.

Just my OPINION, rant over.

Were morals and integrity there before? Didn't greed start in the yuppy years and have just continued? Have things really got worse or are we just seeing it more as lockdown gave us much more time to see it?

I agree steady decline but first lockdiwn gave me faith in community spirit but unfortunately we lost that opportunity to turn the tide. I wish I had emigrated to australia or nz, when younger
